I am having the dumbest night of my life, I think. I meant to have a quiet night in, but then for implausible reasons was offered some speed, and am unable to refuse drugs. But no one I knew took any, so now it is 3.30 am, I am awake, in my office at uni, killing time until I manage to crack a yawn.

Normally I would make sure I had sleeping pills before I took speed. This was just so unexpected...

Also, the insane licensing laws in the state in which I live make it impossible to buy take-away alcohol after midnight. And I'm not drunk enough to hang out in a pub by myself...

Why not order some food too? Then no one will think anything of it.

I don't know why so many people have trouble showing up at a pub or bar without another to accompany them. It happens all the time here in Canada...and I am not just talking about myself, either.
