Has anyone watched Doomsday Sanction yet? Superman fighting DD in an exploding volcano and Bats trying to stop a nuclear weapon like a leatherninja Jack Bauer? Too good.

"I remember those eyes". Too good indeed.

I'm disappointed with the way the series peters out in the second-to-last episode. If you take all the themes and developments built up over the season the only logical outcome was a Kingdom Come-esque standoff... but... that doesn't happen. Instead opting for a bit of Flash Ex Machina to tie everything up.

Agreed Triplets. It was a bit anti-climactic.

I just watched Epilogue today for the first time. And I feel a little icky at how they've reconstructed Terry McGuinness. I almost wanted Bruce to be responsible for the death of Terry's father, in a Ra's Al Ghul puppetmaster kind of way.

Well, that's why I didn't ask for an open discussion of the episode. Catch up with us, Alex!

Just saw "Panic in the Sky" Batman is the shit! I knew he was up to something.

YES!

It's getting to the point where I can't talk about these in any depth without massive spoilers, so I'm just gonna say: wheels within wheels within wheels...

I can't remember the last time a TV show made me sit up and take notice like this: the coda of "Panic in the Sky" made me gasp, hard, and then laugh at the brazen ingenuity of it.

Layered reveals and reversals of a like unseen since the glory days of THE X-FILES—but here it all actually pays off in the end.

Not the best-written show on TV—the dialogue is kind of iffy at the best of times—but absolutely the best-plotted. My hat's off to Dwayne McDuffie.

Maybe a Justice League spoilers thread for people have watched the whole series (and for people who haven't but like being naughty?)

That's okay, you can start spoiling here. Just mark your posts as spoilers and I'll dodge them. It's not fair of me to hog this thread.

"Panic in the Sky" is actually derived from DC history (the name, at least) - there was a small month long Superman storyline with that name back in the mid to late 80s or 90s (either just before or just after Supes died and came back to life).

i bit torrented this entire season recently and watched it over the weekend.

wowza. i aint gonna spoil the last two episodes of the season (for some reason torrents of the entire season have been available for weeks), but 1) Flash sort of rules. This is the best characterization of Wally I've ever seen or read and 2) the final episode is curious and a bit daring for a cartoon.

but the entire season was NICE. Thank god for the story arc of it.

I love that shows like Lost, Alias, and 24 have made TV safe for long story arcs (and no, I haven't forgotten the original arc champion, Babylon 5, but it's less than famous standing didn't help the story arc landscape, even while being beloved by many, including me.)

It's been up on torrent sites, because Canada was like six weeks ahead in airing it.

HOLY SHIT! This is the Flash I’ve been waiting to see since season one! When he ran around the (several times) to take out Luthor/Brainiac my jaw was on the floor. It reminded me of Grant Morrison’s first story arch of JLA when Flash kicked ZÜM’s ass.

I honestly don’t see how next season is going to be better… but I got my fingers crossed.

Oh it's gonna get better.

How's this for bringing back memories?

Meanwhile back at the Hall of Justice...

That does look promising. I love all the Super Friends homages. I just hope they continue with the whole over arching plot threads format that’s worked so well for them these past two seasons and The Flash should be more powerful next season. I mean, you can’t become one with the Speed Force and not learn a thing or two about motion. I think Mark Waid should definitely write an episode and JLU.

Interesting. I wonder which 7 Soldiers though. Grant's or the original with Vigilante and Green Arrow?

Here's to hoping it's Grant's.

Would make sense, they seem to be aiming some of the ...Soldiers books at the youth market, so this would tie in nicely. Be good to see Guardian and Mr Miricle done.

Phex: Dorset Doom

It'll be the original seeing Grant's versions never meet each other.

Tamayyurt
13:39 / 18.07.05
And Vigilante, Green Arrow, Shining Knight, The Star-Spangled Kid and S.T.R.I.P.E. already appear regularly on the show… So my guess it’s going to be the original.

Finally getting to see some of these - in the process of getting the first series', but so far have seen the first 3 of the second Unlimited series. The first two didn't really do much (although it was nice to see Scott Free and Barda, and the little touches are great, Elongated Man turning to watch Fire walk past etc) but the third, the Doomsday Sanction was great. Yeah it was a weak set up for Doomsday being released, but it felt like a show that had history and continuity and character, rather than stand alone episodes of a cartoon series. I'm looking forward to watching the rest (hopefully over the weekend).

This sounds great. I saw a couple of the early episodes and sort of wrote it off,but it sounds like this show gets way better. Which episodes should I download?

17:39 / 19.07.05
I totally know where you're coming from when this was Justice League is was pretty lame, but once they added the Unlimited to the title the bar gets raised. You should get the Justice Lords episode and the Starcrossed stuff... and then everything from seasons 3 and 4 (even the not-so-great filler episodes are fun and add to the over all plot.)

Okay, I checked (the new and crappy) TV Tome and these are the only Justice League episodes you really need before jumping into the fray that is Justice League Unlimited:

Twilight 1 and 2
A Better World 1 and 2
Starcrossed 1, 2, and 3

I still haven't gotten my hands on A Better World and I've been wondering what the whole J Lords hubbub is about. Anybody know any good sources?

Just downloaded and watched "Panic in the Sky" and "Divided We Fall"- Ace stuff. Just great. You ladies and gents were totally on the ball with the love for this series.

However, I'm having issues. I'm new to BitTorrent (haven't had a high-speed connect since '99 and Napster)and I used the site Hieronymus linked to get my stuff, but so far I'm batting .500 on the download quality- "Panic" and "Divided" came through fine, but I also snagged "Flashpoint" and "Question Authority" and they are ALL fucked up- the sound is fine but there is no picture- any suggestions? Are my files corrupted or am I just a moron?

Keep in mind my computer skills are circa 1999 and I am a Mac lifer who has been relegated to his SO's PC because I have no money for a new computer. So treat me with kid gloves, please.

The lack of picture, but having sound suggests a codec issue. Go to free-codecs.com and download the Kazaa Mega Pack. It has no spyware, and everything you need to watch (including MPC, which is my favorite video program). Alternately you can download Video Lan Client (VLC) and watch it there without bothering with codecs, but the programs handling leaves much to be desired for me.

Also note that most of the rips out there (as done by docslax) are from YTV. These episodes were aired incorrectly, there were parts cut, bad audio, and a whole host of other problems that caused the rips to be bad. Download moonsong's rips, which are not only correct (they come from American Cartoon Network) but are also presented in the correct widescreen format.

Now I wait for the police to come pick me up.

X-Himy, thanks bundles. The best bit about the internet is that one has access to people who know tons about things one knows nothing about.

I downloaded the VLC, but couldn't find Kazaa Mega Pack. I did find something called the K-Lite Mega Codec pack. Is that the same deal?

Hopefully I'm about to be neck-deep in Justice League. I fucking love you guys.

This series is fantastic - it's spot on. The intereaction, the slight distance of the big 7 and the interplay between the smaller characters, the relationships and how they evolve. The Question and Huntress are great. Plus. although the fight in Clash was great, The Captain Atom vs Superman fight was equal to it. Superman is one dark bastard in this.

Today is this season's last episode. I heard it was as good as last weeks but still fun. Can anyone who's seen it confirm that?

Just watched the penultimate episode (the final part of the Cadmus story line). This is so good. Quick question though, what is the deal with Blue Beetle not being able to be used? How come Question and Captain Atom are able to be used, but not him if it's some copyright issue with Carlton characters?

Tamayyurt
15:44 / 24.07.05
Actually, I heard DC asked them not to used Blue Beetle cause he’s currently dead in the Comic Universe… I don’t know if I buy that but like you said it can’t be a Carlton character thing cause The Question and Captain Atom are used frequently. I dream of a Blue Beetle/Booster Gold episode.

That would be great, wouldn't it. Fire and Ice, Blue and Gold - and Guy Gardener making an appearance would be a dream - maybe even G'nort... if only.

Just saw the last episode... As a follow up to all this Cadmus madness it was pretty weak. But as a stand-alone episode it was great. Wow. Terry McGinnis, not who we think he is.

sad news, if true, from All the Rage: (mild spoilers)

>> However, the truly BIG news was not mentioned at the panel. The Legion of Superheroes appearance on JLU is no coincidence, and I've been told by reliable sources that a Legion of Superheroes animated series is set to go into production immediately after the completion of JLU. And most of JLU’s creative team will be moving over to the new LoSH series, with one major exception… Bruce Timm. The new LoSH series is being spearheaded by Sam Register, the Vice President of Cartoon Network. Rumor has it that Register feels Timm’s work is “tired and dated” and that the new LoSH series will be done in more of a Teen Titans style of animation rather than the classic Timm style.

There’s more… To further separate the two franchises, a major plot element from JLU is being ignored. In the new season, a JLU member will join the LoSH and stay in the future. But that character will not be appearing in the LoSH series. Instead, another DC “silver age” character will appear regularly. Additionally, there’s talk that Register will not renew Timm’s contract when it expires next year. Why? Well, from what I’ve heard Register is more concerned with creating his own legacy of shows… that he wants to be regarded in the same way as William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The fact that most of you have no idea who he is should tell you how successful that’s been.

If Timm’s tenure at Warner Brothers Animation is in fact, coming to an end, it’s inconceivable that someone with that kind of talent will be unemployed for long. I’m sure DC would welcome Timm with open arms. And if Marvel wanted to make a smart move, they would swoop in and hire Timm to develop their properties into animated series…

But that’s just me thinking out loud…

God bless the consistent undermining of quality entertainment by the egomaniac suits.

So is Register responsible for the Loonatics dreck?
