Also, anyone fancy going with me to the Dirty Water Club this Friday....? I hear them White Hills are pretty good;

FRIDAY 28 SEPTEMBER

WHITE HILLS
Heavy space rock mixes up just the right amounts of psychedelia with
hypnotic grooves to make up an intoxicating other-worldly madness.

DØGNTANK
Those of you who love High Rise-style freakouts ought to grab Døgntank's
album of MC5/Montrose-styled hard rock.

THE KITS
The Kits push the limits set by their predecessors - which include the
likes of The Saints, The Von Bondies, The Hells and International (Noise)
Conspiracy.

White Hills are ace- saw them supporting Copey last year, and they fucking ruled.

Cool. I hope "just the right amount of psychedelia" = LOTS.

but why with Michael Gira

Same booking agent, apparently.

Oh well. Bordeoms wouldn't be Boredoms without half the audience going "I'm here for the support. Who are they? japs, you say? Jolly good."

Mon Oncle Ignatius
08:08 / 27.09.07
If I make it along, I'll be saying "Wowsa - Angels Of Light and Boredoms! Woohoo!", I'm sure. Judging by the most recent AoL album, it should be a storming set in its own right.

Oh yeah, did I plug this here yet?:

O Yuki Conjugate and Sunseastar at The Drones Club on Saturday 29 September.

All Acting Regiment
12:34 / 04.10.07
I'm off to see Vitalic and co at the Warehouse Project. Plenty other super stuff also.

There's a one-off headlining show at Corsica Studios on Tuesday 16 October, with Bobby Conn (who is touring in support of The Cribs), supported by They Came From The Stars, I Saw Them. I think I'll be DJing too, if anyone's up for a bit of glam action.

I'm about to grab a few tickets for System of a Down's Serj Tankian at the Astoria, but there are two kinds of tickets on offer.

Does anyone know what the difference is between 'UNRESERVED (Age Restrictions Apply)' and 'STANDING'? I thought the Astoria was all standing (with the exception of a few seats upstairs, which I didn't think you could book.)

Can anyone shed any light?

Ex-ticketmaster employee to the rescue!

'Unreserved' usually refers to the seating area - you will be guaranteed a seat, but it will be a matter of first-come-first-served where you end up sat. In the case of the ticket being listed as Unreserved/Standing', there will be a mixture of seats and standing, with standing usually at the rear. If you don't get there early, you have to stand at the back. If you do, you get to choose a nice seat at the front. These tickets are normally in the circle/balcony of a venue.

Unless you have difficulty standing for long periods, or dislike being stood around dancing people (and people will usually stand and dance in the seated sections of 'proper' gigs anyway), i'd recommend standing.

That said, 'age restrictions apply' usually refers to the standing section (kids are usually wanted in the seated area by venues). My guess is that they meant to put that tab on both areas, but forgot.

Maybe you should ring See?

Damn. Started out all bold there, and now.. now..

Yup, I'm at Boredoms. Look for a well dressed dude with big sideburns. No not him. The reeeally well dressed one. That's me.

20:47 / 25.10.07
Yeah, it sold out on me before I fixed up, too. Which is a shame, cos I missed them last time 'round, too, and an excuse to remeet Bandini should be found sooner rather then later...

Mon Oncle Ignatius
22:18 / 25.10.07
Well, lucky old me just got given a spare ticket for Boredoms (or V∞redoms, to be more accurate, but then I think I'm going to see Countdown live or something if I misread my own typing quickly enough) tomorrow AND I'll be along to Angels of Light (again) on Saturday too.

I'll see y'all there, either night.

Y'know, if it weren't for the fact that you're blagging me into Angels of Light on Saturday, I'd kill you.

Good point, actually - is seating free or assigned?

Seating has been a polite old free-for-all at previous gigs I've been to at the Union Chapel.

Einstürzende Neubauten - 22nd May 2008, The Forum, London.

It seems like a long time away, but I just bought a ticket anyway.

I'm also thinking of going to Hinoeuma the Malediction at Slimelight, London on 23rd and 24th November 2007, to see: Peter Sotos, Der Blutharsch, Spectre, COSTES, Naevus, Sutcliffe Jügend, Bloodyminded, Macelleria Mobile di Mezzanotte.

12:36 / 05.11.07
That's great about EN playing in May next year; I'm very unlikely to go to the Hinouema night, as anything involving Peter S*t*s and/or Ber Bl*th*rsch (the starring out is because I don't really want to get them added to the Google archive associated with Barbelith) is going to be extremely dodgy, especially given DB's very dubious politics.

My own plug here is for tomorrow night at the Luminaire on Kilburn High Road in west London, where I'll be DJing and also contributing to the general noisiness from Art-errorist Jean-Hervé Peron of Faust, with sunseastar and a selection of chainsaws, cement mixers and other medium weight plant machinery.

To lurch rudely from one end of the musical spectrum to the other, it seems I'm going to see Milky Wimpshake at The Windmill this Saturday...

...because OMG it's just been agreed that my band are making their debut appearence as the opening act.

Foolish as it may sound, I've never played in public before and am kinda scared... I'm the bloody singer on over half the songs we're doing, and until a couple of months ago I'd never even attempted singing in private. Gulp!

Oh well, gotta dive in sometime! Somewhat preposterously, I believe the gig is near sold-out, so potential rubberneckers will mercifully have to wait until we get a bit better.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
13:34 / 07.11.07
I won't be able to make it on Saturday, Rizla, but that sounds like it will be a lot of fun. Being on stage is cool, once you get into it in my experience (though that's with the caveat that I think I've only sung - in the loosest possible sense of the word - once at the front of a group, and I was more than a little drunk and incoherent at the time).

Good luck!
