As Mr. TANK! has said in the past:
Justice Yeldham. One of the best live shows I've seen. A one-man noise act who shrieks into laptop processed panes of glass before smashing it with his face and ending up bleeding and lacerated with shards sticking out his neck. Can't really argue with that on any level.

most excited I've been for a while about spending £3

Yeah, I just found out about the Guitar Wolf date last week. I'm assuming they have a new Bass-Wolf now..? : (

So I'm a little out of practice, but...

ROCK A ROLL!!!!!!!!

I will be there. I might have to wear shades, and possibly comb my hair ostentatiously.

Holly Golightly 1 June at the Buffalo Bar in London at a Stool Pigeon Night with Guillotines and the Black Time. Her new album You Can't Buy A Gun When You're Crying is as good as she's ever been, in a country style. Sadly, it also clashes with Tony Conrad...

Don't have time to check the rest of the thread, and it's likely that anyone reading it won't be interested (as the thread seems dominated by the alternilicious amongst you), but Robyn is playing Camden Dingwalls on Thursday June 14th, 2007. Think she's still touring off her fantastic self-titled album from 2005, which was re-released in the UK this year with an amended tracklisting.

I think I'm going to have to visit London for that Guitar Wolf gig.

Seth
15:03 / 28.05.07
Robyn would be a great show, a shame that it's come at van tax/repair time.

However, that doesn't mean that I'll be missing Guitar Wolf. They need to be crossed off my must-see-before-I-die list.

15:04 / 28.05.07
I encourage anyone who claims to enjoy live music to check out that Justice Yeldham show that RichT mentions upthread. Wimps and posers leave the room.

Robyn is more alternalicious than [insert band you like here]! I think I'm up for that gig, I just have to pay some bills and other things first before I decide if I can afford tickets.

Anybody else going to see Tony Conrad et al. on Friday?

I'm going to turn up early to get a good seat / catch everyone on the bill, so I'm trying to figure out a good way in which I can use the intervening two hours in central London after leaving work to similtaneously a)get food and b)get into an appropriate headspace to enjoy four hours of majestic, church-bound droning.

A big cake full of weed would be just the ticket I suspect. Failing that: pub.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
13:55 / 30.05.07
Fortunately the Angel at St Giles is handily right next door. Punch "cheap booze" into the satnav in central London and you'll always get the Angel.

Ah, I wisht I was going now... I'll check to see if there are any tickets available.

Anyone coming to see Faust with members of Nurse With Wound on Sunday at Corsica Studios in Elephant? Charles Hayward is playing as well, plus Kosmische DJs (well, me and two others!)

Mike Modular
17:51 / 30.05.07
Aye, I'll be there on Sunday. It'll also be my birthday, so perhaps you could spin me some celebratory motorik, please...

Shitting Christ, that was good. It went so far beyond the novelty 'he's playing a piece of glass with a contact mic on', he was playing it as an instrument- there was a huge variety out sounds out of the thing.

Photos and video will follow- check flickr for 'gluerooms'

Forgot to mention: Monday 2nd July at Koko - Isis plus Boris and Oxbow. I've never actually heard Isis, but Boris are becoming firm dooomy favourites (especially the album with Kurihara), so that could be essential.

It's the day before Guitar Wolf, and two days before Morning Bride play in Chelmsford, so it could be a very busy gig week.

Isis are boooring, but the thought of seeing Boris again makes my knees tremble... are they doing any other dates?

Oxbow make my knees tremble for altogether different reasons.

Not an upcoming gig as such, but Chris Corsano is playing with Bjork on Later tonight on BBC2 in the UK, which should be interesting. It gets repeated at some point too, I believe.

Palimpsest was lovely last year and I'm planning on going again. And that was my introduction to Mr. Corsano... and now he's playing with bjork (and I have no TV). Looked up Kemialliset Ystavat last night and I was impressed.

More electronics and sitar drones from Raagnagrok, who play on Friday 8 June (tonight!) at The Windmill, 22 Blenheim Gardens, Brixton, London SW2 5BZ. A Resonance FM benefit gig with, amongst others, the truly amazing synth'n'thereminics of the Man From Uranus. Action from 7.30pm. Entry about £5.

But I'll be at the Morning Bride show in Leytonstone instead. Which is a shame, because both the 'Grok and MFU are excellent live acts.

As I was banging on about him a month or so back on the 'classical music' thread:

Saturday 16 June 8.30 – 9.45pm

fORCH

Mark Knoop piano
Carl Rosman clarinet

Shoreditch Church
A £18 B £12 C £9
D £5 unreserved and restricted view

Richard Barrett is like no-one else. An artistic fearlessness coupled
with a formidable intellect results in his music being of an almost
nuclear intensity that is unforgettable. His brand new clarinet and
piano work precedes the first performance in the UK by his new
ensemble fORCH. This is a concert that is right at the very edge of
current musical performance.

Richard Barrett
Flechtwerk world premiere
Richard Barrett & fORCH
fOKT IV

www.spitalfieldsfestival.org.uk/forch.htm

there's also a piano + electronics concert on before that by Philip Mead which should also be good.

Alan Vega from the legendary Suicide will play afree gig on Saturday at The Roundhouse (in the Freedom Studio wherever that might be).

I'll almost definitely be there. Vega can be amazing when he plays with Suicide, and I've not seen him do his solo act before - from what I gather he was really quite good at the recent Dirty three ATP.

THE ROUNDHOUSE FREEDOM STUDIO
CHALK FARM ROAD
CAMDEN

Doors 8pm
FREE GIG

Alan Vega, best known as the voice of New York punk pioneers "Suicide" makes
a super rare London solo apperance with a FREE gig to celebrate the release
of his new album "Station " (Mute/BlastFirst).

HTRK (Hate Rock) just released their first mini album "Nostalgia" on Fire Records. Sedated death-disco, propelled by slinky drum machines and seductive bass, french kissed by guitar squalled twisted pop melodies, all overlaid by intoned female vocals.

(Oh dear - their album is pretty good though).
