Actually, having had a closer look at the threads in question, I found them rather amusing and well-crafted. I don't have much interest in role-playing games myself, but I know that a lot of people on Barbelith do, after all. And Flux, once he seemed to get a handle on why peopel might be upset, apologised very graciously, although I don't think he particularly had anything to apologise for myself apart from possibly his tone in this thread.
So, here was me all about to apologise in turn for crashing thread #496 within thread #496, rather than casting about for a thread such as this one first. And then I saw the hilarious credits to the rather fun finale.
As far as I can tell, it's phallic symbols a go-go. Because whoever didn't applaud how clever and funny the boys were being is clearly a cock.
Oddly, this coincides with another of the happy band commenting elsewhere:
The funny little pot shot comments always escalate because no one ever wants to let some other asshole have the last word.
It's all rather a shame. I very much want to get along with the boys - some of them I know and love IRL, and others I have respected and admired on this and other boards, but at the moment I just seem to end up feeling like an overtired childminder. |
