lykoi, or lukoi depending on which tradition of transcription you cleave to, means "wolves". The singular is lykos/lukos.

canis is the Latin noun for "dog", but there is also canities, canens, canesco and other words which are related to the verb "caneo", which translates approximately as "I am pruinose", "pruinose" being an English word meaning "covered in hoar-frost". So, white or grey, with a sense of frost or of age...

Oh,and to bring it all back home, canis lupus is the taxonomical name for the gray wolf, but it doesn't mean "gray wolf". canis because it belongs to the family canidiae and the genus canis, dog, lupus because it belongs to the species lupus, wolf.

Pruinose is one of the best words ever. No contest. And yes, it doesn't mean grey wolf but it describes a grey wolf, as opposed to a red wolf (canis rufus) or an Ethiopian wolf (buggered if I can remember - begins with "sim"). Mind you, "gray wolf" and "wolf" are pretty much interchangeable, since the Ethiopian wolf looks like a jackal and the red wolf is pretty much extinct.

Very tired. Two last exams (possibly ever) on Weds and Thurs and have begun revising for them, um, a little late. I know texts but answering questions is a nightmare, so am blitzing novel theory and visual culture stuff. It's scary. I'm so tired it hurts. 4.30pm on Thursday, and my finals are over and I'm a free man, but it's all so scary and I'm not convinced by the quality of my answers. Ugh. Sleepy.

Been working for a temp agency for about a year now, most of it in the same assignment. You can type, you can spell or you can fake it, that's really all you need. Depending on where you get assigned, you don't even have to be particularly subordinate, I'm uppity as hell at my assignment.

I don't know who to be more afraid for, you lot or myself.

I got away with putting my circus skills course on my resume. Worked out to my advantage, my boss is an avid juggler. And not in a creepy way, in an actual clubs and beanbags kind of way. Some hiring personages are actually human, I have no idea how many, but quirks on a resume have been known to catch interest.

We-ell, I considered emailing him because I'm quite curious to know what this guy is about but then I decided not to. Unfortunately tonight my neighbour stole the number and sent a text message to him with my initial attached to it. We thought about ten of us might meet and appraise him but naturally nothing will come of it as I am going out with someone. It's very tempting to be all judgemental though... he had sellotape in his car as well and that's really freaky. On the upside if I met him I could tell him loads of great lies!
