I'm watching I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. I feel like I live in a Special Needs world and real life only seems to affirm it.
That's still on? For real? I thought that was over ages ago.

Second season. So fucking tedious that I have changed over to the Scottish parliamentary elections in some desperate measure to save my brain.

00:42 / 02.05.03
Wow... a second season, I mean, just... wow. Wow. Who's on it?

Oh god, I don't know- a TV chef, coupla soap actors. The usual sad has-been, wannabe's. Ah, re-run's of Charlie's Angels and a woman with no eyebrows. I've got to turn this hell-box off.

Yes, happier things... (Grey Goo analogy very apt, by the way - one suspects that dear old Chazza might have a great deal of sympathy with some of the stuff that's been seen here lately as well... actually, perhaps we could just send the offending parties to Poundbury?)

The ivory towers are... surprisingly not full of panicking finalists. Quite yet. I'm having teething problems (trying to stuff a hundred pamphlet's worth of analysis into the word limit is proving harder than I suspected - I'm doing that thing where you so don't want to write up that you go and do more research, which is wholly counter-productive and is pissing my supervisor off no end...)

I'm in town tomorrow though and will be for the weekend - X Men 2 tomorrow, but otherwise flexible. Are you doing the play?

i dont know if the u.k version is just as bad as the american one...god that was just unwatchable. Laws, people. These are the types of things that need to be eliminated!

Greeeetings, Children of the Night.

I know what y'mean about the 'simpletons', Haus. On the one hand, it's useful to have an influx of more right-wing political viewpoints, as it forces a more thorough re-examination of one's own position; on the other, the particular arguing style compels but frustrates. I agree it's repetitive in the extreme: today, when typing my response to a fairly typical 'so what's your alternative? are you saying we should eat babies!!!???!!!' riposte, I was struck by a peculiar deja vu and wondered - for a brief, paranoid moment - whether Leap was in fact partly computer-generated, a slightly more sophisticated ELIZA...

Not sure about the pay - I have a vague feeling that I am meant to be doign something else, but can't remember what. Very strange. May try to make it tomorrow or Saturday, tho' - do you have plans for Friday eve, as a fallback? Would be good to see your face..

Anna - Scottish Parliamentary elections sound reasonably gripping, The only possible hope for "I'm a D-List Celebrity..." is if Daniella Westbrook's artificial septum has to be used as an improvised pontoon. *That* would be entertainment...

SPE are boring. The world is boring. I may go to Tesco's to alleviate boredom, frustration, irritation, angst and the image of Daniella Westbrook's septum from my mind. Also forgot how wrong Farrah Fawcett was.

I'm getting repetitive as well - most of my posts go 'representation... liberties... taxation not theft...'. Perhaps I should just let it take me over and start writing pamphlet prose myself:

An Impartial VINDICATION of our Lives, Liberties and Properties, as Maintained by the REPRESENTATIVES of the NATION; in answer to the late seditious Animadversions of the Winchester Utopian. In a Letter to a Friend. Oxford: publish'd for the Author, 2003.

Haus, yes, it would be good to see your face too (and the secret beard behi... perhaps I ought to go to bed...) I'm not free tomorrow evening, but perhaps Saturday? There's this thingy, but in Vicarage if wet, I suspect...

ONLY NICE THINGS
01:07 / 02.05.03
Quite so - I and a gallimorfrey of seditious DEVIANTS were thinking of gounf to the recording of Call My Bluff at the BBC studios earlier also, as a potential laugh...

01:12 / 02.05.03
Well, I'm still up. And I'm ignoring itchy fingers. Woo. But then, am at work, sooo...

I do get paid today, though. Although this is small recompense for the odd twenty-five grand that I'm in debt.

Bah.

18:45 / 02.05.03
So who's kicking about then, I'm here at work doing a giant upgrade until 8 furkin am!!

only 3pm here, and i fear that my department is going to shortly be downsized...

hey.

i'm here, and feeling like i have been slighted.
i realise that it is posible that was not included, but am i really a simpleton to you, haus?

is there actually a need for special needs barbelith?
has anyone asked for it?

i would like people to be less angered by a lack of education, but i dont want a haven or bastion of stupidity; as you so rightly say there are plenty of those.

sorry to be all grumpy in a light thread, but i'm concerned that you are setting up a divide in your mind between the Able To and the Not Able To that needn't be there. as i think i said before, its a lot like when your mate wont let you have a go of his playstation because he thinks you are to crap and gets annoyed watching you play.

sure, you might be able to see his point, but it's a bit mean spirited.

Still here but getting tired now haven't done a night shift in years, just wanted the most recent Angel though - only one more to go!

Never been up with you American before though, well maybe a couple of times back in the days when I net access at home but I was mostly drunk.

I feel like I'm talking to myself - I might have cabin fever.

Just home from my 'leaving do' in a Cuban bar in Paddington. Texted you, Bear, before reading this, to see if you fancied heedin' oot tae oor local in Vauxhall - but I see you're tied up with upgrades and other technical gubbins. Ah weel.

Going to see 'X-2' tomorrow night. Yay!

(Oh, and Toksik? Dunno about Haus, but I wasn't thinking of you at all with the 'simpletons' thing...)

Char Aina
22:40 / 02.05.03
i'm with you, but i dont think i will do too much talking.

just think of me as the kid in the corner talking to himself.

Bear
22:45 / 02.05.03
Oh yeah I see the text now, would have been up for a drink for sure but fraid I'm sitting here listening to Classic Rock - X-men 2 eh, guess I'm going to go on Monday or maybe I could download it now, aha!

Hello toksik!

What's the posting limit on Barbelith?

Does someone want to explain to me who exactly Zoe Passmore is?

Harking back to this thread's start, I'd probably be a Gryffindor...not intelligent or dedicated enough to be a Ravenclaw. Not nice enough or thick enough to be a Hufflepuff. I don't think I'd be a Slytherin...I just get the sense that I'd get on really badly with all the other Slytherins. Gryffindor by default, then. And because its where all the other weirdos live.

Whatever I was, I know I'd try and seduce Snape. But wouldn't we all.

i dunno about haus either, but if you say that in public, can't he sue?

toksik: I suspect that you weren't the focus of that exchange. I could be wrong, but...

Ganesh: Leaving do?

I watched X2 last night. It was fun, and I especially liked the changey woman. Ian Mckellen came a close second place in his plastic prison. Why do I always want the bad guys to win?

that
22:58 / 02.05.03
Because they'd be more fun in bed?

I resent that. I think...

Yeah, a belated leaving do: at the start of April, I 'rotated' from one post in the training scheme to my next (Liaison Psychiatry). I'd been in the previous placement a full year, so it was quite a heartfelt parting.

Looking forward to sexy x-ey men tomorrow. This week's 'QX' (free gay scene magazine) includes shots of Cyclops and Iceman larging it in Heaven (the London gay mega-club rather than the metaphysical endpoint), looking distinctly pie-eyed.

Char Aina
23:05 / 02.05.03
yeah, i wasnt concerned that i was the topic this time, more that i was in the general group that the hand was being waved at.

saw x2 last night and really liked it
we are down to like 15people here at work and currently 8 of them arent actually doing anything, but there isnt any business either, so i suppose thats ok

im really bored, and in a zaphod beeblebrox moment am now trying to get my computer to help me have sex with the girl sitting next to me...oh hi amanda, why are you reading my screen? Im so screwed...

Baz Auckland
23:26 / 02.05.03
Did it work?

AMANDA: SLEEP WITH ELIJAH! TRUST US!

that
23:29 / 02.05.03
Gah. I want someone to sleep with me. Someone I actually know and want to fuck, preferably.

Char Aina
23:32 / 02.05.03
xmen2 will be wicked, but its the hulk thats getting me wetting me.

i like the idea of tripping xmen; do you think cyclops gets more powerful on E?

in other news i was just recently asked by the Girl Of My Dreams to go travelling...

unrequited love of her has already been deciding much of the course of my life.
just sharing, s'all.

Char Aina
23:40 / 02.05.03
i personally was thinking recently that i would love to have sex with a 'lither, but i think i would only be doing it for the sake of it.

plus, i'm sure s/he would write all about it and i would then just be inundated with offers i could never expect to take up.

i couldnt break those hearts, you know?

has that happened before much?

Ganesh
23:42 / 02.05.03
Go travelling with her, or just travelling?

Char Aina
23:54 / 02.05.03
hah!
yes, well that would certainly put a different spin on it!

"piss off, far away, as far as possible. in fact, go travelling for a
few years. please."

no, she wants me to go away with her for at least two weeks interrailing and the like. the 'rub' is that we are still good friends, and she might want a platonic friend to keep her safe, not a fuckbuddy/hewhore.

prague was mentioned, but i think it will be a bit more southern/western europe at first.

Bear
00:48 / 03.05.03
Only 5 hours to go, guy at work just opened up some vodka which is possibly the worst idea ever, but when someone offers you don't like to say no...

Looks like toksik is still around eh toky, you don't mind me calling you toky do you?!!

Char Aina
01:03 / 03.05.03
call me what you like.

my handles an insult, and my real name's not much better.

where do you work?
i reckon that might sway me on how bad an idea that is...

that and whether its crystal.
