Nice brand new shiny thread for those involved in The Shifter project. How are we doing? Any more stories finished? Any news on your website, Moriarty?

Jenny in a slightly punkier look for her incarnation in a tale of admirable disobedience scripted by Impulsivelad:

Oi, you tart, I thought you were my bitch. What about my new Jenny script, then?

That's ace, that is. I really like the way the different versions of Jenny Everywhere are becoming more and more distinct.

About a month ago I finished the script for the second half of 'Damn Fine Hostile Takeover', a story in two parts of 10 pages each, and Nelson Evergreen has nailed most of the first half. In fact, we were recently discussing posting a preview page up, so here it is - page 4 of part 1. Apologies for the spelling mistake, which comes of me transcribing pop lyrics phonetically and will be corrected in the final version (allegedly).

I came up with a vague outline for another Shifter story, but it's largely reliant upon big, grand visuals, splashpages of carnage and madness etc., and since my style of drawing is necessarily minimal in the extreme, I thought I'd just wait until Paul Pope offers to draw it..

Oops, sorry Lentil. I never saw your last post on the Collective Comics Project thread.

Gosh, it's hard being dumped. And being the last to know.

*sniff*

Well, hope you and Impulsivelad will be... *sniffle*... very... *sob*... HAPPY!

(runs out of thread, weeping)

(PS, I can't see your pic for some reason - can you post a link to it?)

BTW, that looks pretty fly, Fly. Can't wait to read the whole thing. Nelson's quite the whizz on those crowd scenes, innee?

Who knew school would be this hard?

I am unable to do a single thing in support of the Shifter project until at least the beginning of May. If I move to Ireland for the summer, I may not even be able to work on much then. My brother, who was going to help me with the website, is also occupied by schoolwork and wil be moving to Vancouver in the spring. I'm going to look around for someone to take his place and hopefully get something set up in the summer.

I was asked by Perse if it was alright for her to put a story on her Queer Granny site. That's not up to me. Each individual story is the property of the respective creators. Like Nelson and Flyboy have done, you can always post them on your own website for now. You may not even want to put it up on the Jenny Everywhere site when it gets finished. Your choice.

Keep on Truckin'.

Shit, Sax, i didn't know you hadn't seen that post of mine from way back - sorry if I shocked you! And after I went to all the trouble of letting you down in a sensitive, touchy-feely way too.

Yeah, basically imp sent me a script mere days before you posted on the other thread. You know I'd be happy to draw every Jenny script ever were it not for work life drinking fishcakes.

On the plus side, that page is as good as ever. Fave words: "couscous espresso". Fave line: bradley's chin. Good to see the Everywhere Entourage (sorry) back again.

Something to think about: do we want to put this into paper form soonish, like, this year? And if so, shall we accept that ish#1 is going to feature a, shall we say, more intimate* group of collaborators?

Any visual artists want a crack at the script I originally sent to Levon? It's probably way too wordy for the pages as I set 'em up.
Involves Mayan ruins and a very badly wounded fundamentalist.

LOL, look, it's the hot dog guy...

I'm perfectly happy to post anyone's Shifter comic on the QG site --probably similar to how I did Kegboy's Mages-- and/or link to Shifter comics on other sites. I'd be even more excited to feature ish#1 in its paper form in QG Comics & Zines, and I would even get off my butt & set up the distro... how many stories do you need to make up a proper issue?

Sax- Bitch, quit calling my house and leaving obscene messages! He's mine now! MIIIIIINE!

(We really should get more than two artist on this project! It's turning into Blood Sport!)

Fly- That looks fantastic.

Saxy - I might be able to do it - I'm no Nelson or Lentil, but I can sort of draw. It might not come out looking much like a comic comic, so depends what you're after. But I do fancy a shot at this sort of thing, and could do with a project. Up to you. Can't PM you any examples unfortunately as I don't have any online or any facilities for getting them there, but...

Nelson Evergreen's art is BEAUTIFUL!! It's very Paul Pope-ish (which is a compliment in my book!).

Imp, when will we see your new Jenny Everywhere tale hinted at by the pinup post above?

KCC - You're on. I'll PM you with some ideas and see what you think.

Love Nelson's art. I'm working with aother Lither on a comic called Zebra, which is a VALIS ref for all you Dickheads out there. The theme is variations on reality and we currently have four projects in development. I thought it would be a lark at first, but it's coming up VERY nicely. BUT, I would love it if I could get a good logo designed. The idea of Zebra is 'the creator hiding in the details,' but the idea of using a zebra's head sounds good as well. Could anyone help?

There's no money in it, but it's free publicity at MOCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, a big old indy fest) New York in June and I'll send a few copies yer way too.

Ta and keep up the Shifter thang.

Darn it, I used that very same PKD reference in a comics months ago.
(pretends to sulk)
Good luck on that one though, it sounds cool.

Oh and, brief Newsflash - I think Jenny may well be making a guest appearence in my ongoing comic pretty soon. Assuming nobody objects.

I have a script I really ought to sit down and write. It'll take me a couple of hours, which I could well have some time next week. When it's done, I'll let you all know.

I'm been a lurker on the Jenny threads but I want to point out that Peresphone has posted a Jenny Everywhere story that I finished last year but couldn't make available to the Barbelith public. You can find the story - MRS. ZIRMA - in the comics and zines section of her website queergranny.com.

Or you could use the address below.

Welcome aboard, dlotemp. That's a damn fine addition to the Jenny body of work. Very one-shot Invisibles, but then you probably already knew that.

Gosh, there's a lot of stuff getting done now. Just need to finish my script for Kit-Cat Club.

dlotemp - just loked at page 1, will check the rest out when i'm not at work. Looking good though!

And I must say: respect for just turning out a story with the minimum of fuss. It took the rest of us the best part of a year and a 9-page thread to get our shit done!

Welsome aboard, indeed.

Btw, Sax, KCC, I'm so into the idea of you two working together (and not just cos it assuages my guilt!). Really looking forward to seeing a Kit-Cat version of our Jen.

oooooohhh, grant, I am so sorry for having fallen behind on your lovely, lovely Jenny Everywhere in the Mayan ruins script! Have moved, settled and barring from spending as much of my time on demo's and following the news, I shall try to impose a strict order on myself.

Thank you all for you pleasant comments and appreciation.

Also, thanks to all who have gone before and are still working on Jenny Everywhere stories. I've been grooving to all of them.

Vive le Everywhere!

PS - there's a discussion thread over in COMICS specifically about Mrs. Zirma for those of you interested. >>Blantant self-promotion finished.<<

Just been having a read of the original collaboration thread, and trying out some Jennies in prep for Sax's mighty script - and I can't get her right as Moriarty and Nelson have shown her - she looks more like Lentil's, only with added 'Another Country' - will this be all right? Erk...

(When I try a Nelson-pattern Jenny she just comes out looking like my sister and that's all wrong)

My personal panic over - have solved 'Another Country' problem, thk God.

02:49 / 23.03.03
I don't actually know what "another country" is, but KCC, you've nailed my secret Shifter shame - I was about halfway through MBV when I noticed that moriarty's original description said "she appears to be Asian or Native American"

... umm, as you can see, I still haven't corrected that.

Tamayyurt
14:14 / 23.03.03
Oh who cares! I love the idea that she looks different in different universes and that the only bit of continuity in these stories are her goggles. It adds to the strangeness and emphasizes the fact that she's really shifting, kinda like in Quantum Leap.
