Anyone awake on this comet filled eve?

03:03 / 19.11.02
Hey Kegboy! Glad to see a new Late Shift...I was up looking for comets but have returned empty-handed. And now I'm off to bed unfortunately, but I'm sure I'll be back here some other eve. Good night.

Me at work. Bad Day. Harddisk crash. Could lose lots of stuff, important stuff. Especially the Calendar I was making for my KungFu school. I was nearly finished, I could lose it all.

Looks like I just lost everything. They can get into the second hard disk where everthing was stored. I'm fucked.

I soo hate it when the computers fuck up... I have to restart my computer numerous times before it will boot all the way..Im thinking it may be die to my wacom tablet. For now I just have my tablet unplugged and lying on my scanner...oh woe is me... I have a job comming up at the end of the month and I need a working computer and tablet....

the Fool

But my computer wasn't fucked. My work computer and me were getting on marvelously. There was no warning of impending doom...

This is all so sudden, and at the worst possible time. It was my entire design archive!!!

Need to not be at work right now...

Tch. Went to bed way too early last night and now find myself pottering around at an hour normally reserved for finally going to bed. Odd. I think I need more coffee.

The Return Of Rothkoid
04:15 / 19.11.02
Fool; twas a Mac? I had the same thing happen once, maybe. Gimme some specs. You might be able to resurrect it by slaving it to another - I had a disc failure once that fucked the disc to the point that it wouldn't show up at all - but if it was slaved, you could read off it. Couldn't ever get it to boot, even when reformatted and a new system installed, but you could use it as a beefy storage unit.

Hey, there's another t-shirt. Beefy Storage Unit. That's me.

Sigh. I'm at work. Still. And have discovered, alarmingly, that the Monster Magnet album I bought is the "clean" version. So it goes "beep" instead of saying "fuck". Beep that shit. It's going back to Utopia this evening.

Sounds kind of like a Monster Magnet digital watch, Roth. So very sorry.

The Return Of Rothkoid

Oh yes. When the big hand points to 666, digital Dave stops sucking on his virtual bong and tells you it's time to rawk.

Wait. That's much cooler than a G-Shock.

I've exchanged. And now have censorship-free devil-worshipping action. So I'm a little happy.

Good evening, Kegboy. Once again just stopping by to say hello - would love to stay but can barely stay awake. Good night.

And a goodnight to you too gergsnickle! A good night indeed.

Well, I'm around. Hm.

And so am I, though only briefly. How's things, R?

Is it late somewhere? Almost 6 P-to-tha-M here. Desperately casting dozens of new auctions into the eBay waters (heads up, comics fans!) in the hopes of being able to pay rent when the time comes. Wish us luck...

Ariadne
21:05 / 20.11.02
Well, it's 11pm in the UK, but I'm in Las Vegas just now and it's only 3pm. Las Vegas. Bloody hell. It's a strange place, this.

I've never been before and, to be honest, I hope I'm never here again, though it's been great to see it for real. It's every bit as extreme as I expected, maybe more so. Where are you, Deric?

The Strobe
22:29 / 20.11.02
I'm in. And have just got back from seeing The Necks.

Woah. That was a wee bit fucking good. I'm also thirty quid lighter because I bought the new live 4-disc box set, and I'm fucking tired beyond belief.

But yeah. The Necks. Wow. (And the concert's on the radio/web on Sunday if you missed it).

The Return Of Rothkoid

Paleface: can you tape the broadcast? I can trade you the in-studio version they recorded here the other week... what sort of sets did they play? I saw both gigs they did in Sydney, and they were fab; the first set of the first one went for 90 minutes, full of overtone-filled ambient stuff. Good. Was Methylsalicylate there? I told hir about it, but don't know what hir plans were. Glad you enjoyed the gig - my introductory fee and respec' is in the mail, I take it - they put on a good show.

The box-set is good (mine arrived yesterday, serendipitiously) but the packaging is a bit duff. Grr. Still, I think I got it much cheaper than you did, so I'm OK with that.

Chris Abrahams' solo disc is well worth picking up, too. Tony Buck's new drum-only disc is not so essential...

A: I'm OK, I guess. Well, no, I'm not, I'm pretty shithouse, and am still taking things quite badly. (And also am worried that people are beginning to think me a fucking whinger) But I talked to Loomis last night while drunk, so that was a Good Thing. I miss hir a fair bit, now that ze isn't around for beer. Especially NOW, when ze is needed. Gah.

But... VEGAS, BABY! I hope you're overindulging on excess. How's the conf? And how you? Glad you liked The Bear..., too. Mmmm. That's some fine Shakespeare.

I'm in, outside its 23 and sunny. Looks like a perfect spring day. Clear blue skies, happy green trees!

Sort of good news from the land of Fool. My dead hard-disk went to the shop for data extraction. They said they managed to recover 'most' of the data, which is a BIG relief. Probably means I lost some stuff, but that's a helluva lot better than losing the whole archive. And we didn't have to pay for it, they did it as a favour!

I have learned my lesson, I will back up more often now. Promise...

Hello, I'm awake and in the 24 hour computer room at a ridiculous hour. Why? Couldn't answer that one but would like to say that the picture is scrumdidiliumptious.

Saint Keggers
01:41 / 21.11.02
no, its a jpg.
Thanks. I originally was trying to shoot a pair of bluebirds and this sight was too hard to say no to.

Tryphena Absent
01:43 / 21.11.02
That's quite a difference! Definitely not a bluebird!

Saint Keggers
01:47 / 21.11.02
yeah the bluebirds were balancing on the window frame trying to do the nasty while ignoring the simple laws of physics. They flew off when I got near and I chased after them, from window to window trying to get a shot...I only managed to get one pic of one of them but its definitly not a keeper... ce'st la vie.

Am here, up, but drowsy. Prepping for a four-day junket to NYC, which if nothing else means I can eat at my favorite Japanese place for a few nights running.

What flick this time?

Not much exciting. The new Star Trek, Maid In Manhattan (the new JLo flick) and Narc. I've seen the last one already and liked it well enough, so talking to those people will be cool. The rest I could give a shit about, really, though I'm pretty happy to meet Bob Hoskins, who I'll talk to re: Maid In Manhattan. Anyone got questions for JLo?
