I for one am not good enough.
I have no way of forming a magickal link, no connection with the sniper or his victims. The best I could do is whip up a general protection of the area. That might reduce violence in the region but it probably wouldn't stop someone as determined as this killer. It might even backfire and encourage {him, her, it, them} to expand the range.

Hmm... perhaps a map sigil made from the locations of killings and a overlay of another sigil to stop him from adding any locations?

Sorry, bad wording. "Sth valuable to say" in the sense that he could be some kind of crazy magician who saw changes coming and decided to take part on the whole process (an idea which was being entertained by myself and others in the thread). I'm afraid of tarbaby syndrome the thing you fight is the thing you attract. I don't want to be instant karma, judge or executioner. On the other hand some protection work to prevent the deaths of the comparatively innocent victims might be a good idea. Then our karma, if you believe in it, is only affected by our preventing of violence.

Hmm... It's not known conclusively if the Death Card found was definitely left by the sniper. As to "Satanic Panic" backlash from the incident, I'd give it a few weeks before waiting for either shoe to drop. I find the idea of using metaphysics against the sniper intriguing, however. It brings to mind a quote from Casteneda's first book: "Real sorcerers don't kill people, they make people kill themselves". The fact that no objects have been obtained to connect a magickal worker to the sniper may indeed be a problem in the case of taking direct magickal action against him. However, the idea of using the energy connected with the sites of the shooting could be key, if just very, very filthy to work with... this only would work for a magician in DC though.

Ok. I know nothing to very little about "magick" and what I'm gathering from these posts is that some of you don't want to enter the fray due to fear of attracting bad karma or working in the equivalent of a metaphysical cesspool. I hear you. I liked the idea of creating a protection sigil so why not just do that? Or if you want to go one better, try conjure up something to calm down the millions of residents who are biting their nails just crossing the street. The more level heads there are out there, the easier it is for the law to do it's job.
The rest of you who feel a little more comfortable with dipping your hands in the psychic muck why not hit him with everything you've got? Make his gun backfire. Give him a sense of empathy to make him turn himself in. Make him run into a drinking and driving roadblock. Hell give him a cold, I don't know.

Someone give me some idea of what a layman can do in the magickal realm because like I said before I don't know shit about magick or its methods and I want give it a go as well.

The news says that the sniper strikes roughly every two days taking the weekends off. Monday night was the when the last victim was shot so tonight's not looking so hot to be a resident of the DC area. Can a collected force of Barbeloids working on different fronts provide a resoloution to this mess?

Well... I made a simple servitor in DC on Wednesday to give a crisis of conscience and an overabundance of empathy to anyone looking down the barrel of a rifle. It's feeding quite well off of the media frenzy hereabouts.
