Having defended PJ, I must apologise - he's a wanker, and not necessarily because of the allegations of domestic violence (as far as I know, they're still allegations, although someone may set me straight on that). No, what got my goat was him summing up Alex's behaviour by saying "he's being a woman, basically"...
Alex's whining itself, however, is borderline pathological. Sure, I can see why the others might grate a bit now and then, especially where hygiene and tidiness is concerned, but he does seem to be making a melodrama and a crisis out of a, er, reality tv show. The thing that really annoys me about Alex is that he clearly thinks that he's much more intelligent and sophisticated than the rest of the plebs, and he really isn't: they're actually not a bad lot, and he's not exactly Mr Wit/Charisma/Intellect...
This is also true of Sandy, who's been dragged into the mini-war on Alex's side, but I still think he's basically a decent bloke, and would find more common ground with the others if Alex either mellowed or left.
Johnny, now he's an interesting one for me, because on the surface he's the archetypal lad, wye-aye, etc... But he's not a git, or an idiot, and in fact he's demonstrated far greater maturity than Alex has in handling their conflict (wanting to actually talk it out, trying to start from scratch).
Jade's okay, really, isn't she? Don't know much about geography, but able to mediate between the two camps... Needs to watch out for PJ though...
Oh dear, I'm hooked again. Look out for thoughts on the rest of 'em soon... |
