Okay, I know he's blind. But were you a sightless lawyer with enhanced senses and a nice line in gymnastics, would you really wear this this get-up in the 21st Century:

Why is it that as superhero comics are attempting to inject a bit of realism by moving away from dressing their characters up like circus strongmen any more, movies feel the need to ask mainstream audiences to believe that just because you have a grudge against criminal elements of society you have to wear silly gear?

well, given the choice between watching Ben Afleck strut around in spandex or strut around in leather, I'll take the leather. I just don't think the spandex would flatter him.

Personally, I think it's nice that they're at least keeping the outfit red, and giving him the little horns.....

That looks like a porn Batman movie. 'Bend over Batwards' perhaps.

I like it, meself. Apart from the mask, I don't reckon it looks a great deal more fancy than one of those one-piece things that bikers wear.

Ray fengsforthememory: That looks like a Batman Porn movie.

It *so* does...
You can *sense* it's gonna stink, can't you?

I keep thinking it needs one of those orange gag-balls in its mouth.

Mystery Gypt
18:39 / 17.05.02
true about the gag-ball -- but if they went *totally* fetish on this stuff, it would probably look a lot less silly.

at this point, electra's costume will make or break it (i mean, yeah it's already broken, but if she looks great it won't be a total loss)

I don't think he *knows* its red...

Having worn something very similar to Torture Garden in the relatively recent past, I'm in no position to criticise. Besides, I like it...

I don't know but it looks like they just took a bathing cap and stretched it over his face...The head looks wrong.

Micheal Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin??? WTF????

Jack Fear
20:41 / 19.05.02
Why WTF? Because he's a black negro African-American gentleman of color?

Saint Keggers
20:59 / 19.05.02
yes

I think it looks OK, actually - although in this pic the eyes & horns are hard to see, and we can't even see the DD emblem (which I hear is on the breast pocket area).

Captain Zoom
00:16 / 20.05.02
Actually, at this point, I can't imagine anyone but Michael Clark Duncan pulling off the Kingpin. Who else is going to rival the power he conveys?

And Affleck looks quite nice in the leather, I think....

Zoom.

heh, head looks large and melonie
i think the mask should cover his nose, it just looks silly
and man, i cant wait for 2 hours of ben aflek staring blankly into space with his perma-smirk
oh, wait, i could just watch any other film he has been in...

My $.02: I actually really like the costume. I don't think it looks goofy or campy at all. As for the film, I got a feeling it's going to be.....

Colin Farrell as Bullseye, though? Mmmm...

deja_vroom
12:06 / 27.05.02
On the other hand... I will regret for saying this but... with Bullseye and his awkward abilities (the general public won't be expecting someone who is deadly with styrofoam cups, right? right??), with Elektra trying to kill DD by night and in love with MM by day... a good writer could come up with a real good action movie, with twists and turns, good scenes exploring DD's abilities and so on... It's not gonna happen, I know, but now the idea of a Daredevil movie doesn't look as stupid as I thought before...

The Natural Way
12:43 / 27.05.02
Actually, from what I've heard, early reports suggest DD may be a very good action flick w/ super-kinetic, violent fight scenes. Violence is good. I love violence. Let's all have a fight.

Cyuh, you lot, whining about silliness. You sound like a bunch of anglican bishops ("Of course, we're not meant to believe that Superman really flew, not in a literal sense. No, leaping over a tall building in a single bound is a metaphor for overcoming a big pile of administrative duties. AND he did it all in a double breasted navy-blue suit.")

Okay then, what should Daredevil wear?

I remember when the first pictures of the X-Men outfits leaked out there was much pointing and chuckling and utterances of "this film is going to be terrible, look at those stupid leather costumes."

And I thought that film turned out to be rather good.

I'm not saying that I think that Daredevil is going to be great just yet, but I am saying that one murky photo of the costume ain't really enough to decide that it's going to be crap, either...

Matthew Fluxington

I don't see what the problem with the costume is - it looks just like the one Daredevil wears in the comics. I think some people have a real difficulty imagining what those superhero costumes are made out of, because the artists always draw them ignoring that they are made of material, it's not painted flesh.

I think the reason the Daredevil movie won't be very good has a lot more to do with Daredevil and his supporting cast not being very compelling characters - there have been some good stories written about Daredevil, but I think it has more to do with the skill of those people who wrote them than the strength of the source material.

I think Daredevil is a very second-rate character.

As I understand it... Corey Yeun will be fight cordinator...

He's done alot of Jet Li's greatest stuff... Fist of Legend, Black Mask, as well as his more recient Hollywood attempts... The One, Kiss of The Dragon...

So I suspect there will be some solid Ass Kicking... (I hope I hope)

Saint Keggers

I dont know, I sort of tired of American flicks using hong-kong style fighting sequences just because they can. Like that stupid The Musketeer.

As for the costume, I think it looks great except for the damn mask...something's just wrong about it. But its still better than the Daredevil costume from the Incredible Hulk tv-movie.

CameronStewart
14:39 / 31.05.02
The thing about the mask that looks odd to me is that the sculpted eyes look a bit too far apart, giving him a vaguely alien appearance.

Could just be the photo, though.

Mr Tricks
21:39 / 31.05.02
I agree that HK fight styles are absurd when used in a context like Musketeer...

However, what "superhero" can you think of that would be better suited to the HK fight style??? Iron Fist? Master of Kungfu? Batman!?!

the electra outfit is terrible
ok, leather over whatever it is in the comic, fine, but keep the look, wheres the red ribbon things and all that???
and if she talks while trying to kill him, and also when she is trying to get into his pants, shouldnt his super senses tell him its the same voice?
hell, his blind ass should be able to tell they smell the same...

Mr Tricks
19:59 / 05.06.02
