I second Moominstoat's warning about track length, having performed what was possibly the most amateurish strip ever to The End by The Doors and myself and fellow would-be artists then having a somewhat less than professional drunken debate about whether we should remain on stage as we were for the next godknows how many minutes of the song. (We decided not to.)

I think there should be a separate category for the choice of music if it wasn't you yourself doing the stripping... I'd like to nominate 'Milkshake and Honey' by Sleater-Kinney for that.

Anything by Einsturzende Neubauten

Headcleaner? Haus der Lüge? My brain hurts.

I'd probably go "Radioaktivitat" by Kraftwerk. Or perhaps some Philip Glass... wait - is this supposed to be a realistic thread?

Yowsa.

Heh. You've got that right, sister

Cop Killer
19:42 / 29.03.02
I cannot believe that Motley Crue has not been mentioned, because they are the best stripper music, bar none. "Looks That Kill" would be my choice, cuz that's me to a tee...not really, and I don't think anyone would actually pay to see me strip, not taking my clothes off could probably make me money though...

afghan Whigs' "Neglekted" would be good too...

I always forget what it's called but there's a song by Sarah Mclachlan from the City of Angels soundtrack and I think that would be my choice because it's just kinky enough... bad film though.

"Cry Little Sister" by Gerard McMann. My friend once told me she saw a stripper perform to that song and now everytime I hear it, all I can think of is stripping. Mmmm hmmm.

Haus about we all give each other a big lovely huggle?
23:06 / 31.03.02
If you're doing Bowie, Flyboy, why fuck around with glam rock? Just go straight for "Warszawa"...

Increasingly tempted also by Delia Derbyshire's "Zee-hi Zee-wi oo-oo", but it's a bit short. I's barely have time to get my cufflinks off...

"We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" - Jermaine Jackson (?)

"House of the Rising Sun" - for Haus, obviously. But he has to start off in full fencing gear and finish by wiggling his booty at the crowd.

It would also be satisfying to see David Mellor roundly beaten, wrapped in long swatches of silk, and forced to dance to the theme from Twin Peaks, gulping for air with strangled sobs as he slowly unveils his bruised and battered body, his eyes streaming with tears behind his mangled spectacles, the right lens cracked and shattered, a thin rivulet of blood running from his nose.

God, I hate Bank Holidays. I'm really bored.

Do what I do, Saxy- sleep through them.

You've Got The Power" I have no idea who did it ..but its the theme to the Transformers movie

"The Touch", by Stan Bush, I think you'll find. Which could work.

Has anyone seen "Keys to Tulsa"? There's a strip-club scene in there with quite a good accompaniment...

I go with Garbage. Especially some of the unreleased songs off their singles like "Trip My Wire" or "1# Crush."

And I would really also take it off to "Living Dead Girl" by Rob Zombie, but it would probably be much more effective if I had scarier tattoos.

Rizla:

"anything by The Fall"

Heh, although a shortened version of 'Hip Priest' (the one they used in the spooky chase scene in 'Silence of the Lambs') might just work - teasy bits during the quiet sections and then an explosion of clothes and flesh flying in the sudden loud bit.

I used to know a stripper who always stripped to Danzig and Velvet Underground.

Dammit Barry, 'used to' is not good enough. Find her for me. Assuming the stripper is a she, of course.

Danzig. Oooh. I have to go & lie down now.

If you're ever in Toronto, you can catch her live about once a month. (She had to give up stripping due a clause in the record contract)

And that's a lot more than she usually wears.

On one occasion I saw her wearing only electrical tape.

Frankly I didn't think a thong could look that way but seems as usual I was wrong.

Definately Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King". The idea of a series of strippers disrobing as they chase a nubile Peer Gynt about stage is just soooooo tempting.

My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult: The International Sin Set

It frightens me how quickly I came to that decision. Almost as if my subconscious has been planning it all along. Come to think of it, I have been missing a lot of sleep lately, and my legs are in great shape. Hmm... The first rule of Strip Club is, you do not talk about Strip Club.

'Dirty Dancing' by Oobie or 'Yeah!' by Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris - any of Lil Jon's more rnb-ish tracks, really.
'Slow Jamz' by Twista, Kanye West and Jamie Foxx.
'Crash and Burn' by Busted (for the Eddie Furlong in Detroit Rock City effect).
'The Skins' by Scissor Sisters.

But having recenty had my first burlesque lesson, the songs I will soon by stripping to are 'Shake ya ass' by Mystikal and 'Got your money' by ODB.

Also, I really like the idea of Matthew, or anyone really, stripping to Contort Yourself.

"Believe" by Gus Gus has always seemed to be incredibly sexy to me. Falsetto vocals, sharp breakbeats, and a BURLY bass line.

"Take 5" by Dave Brubeck should just about cover my inability to move in time with any music. If unavailable, I would disrobe to "How much is that Doggy in the Window?" sung by Lena Zavaroni. Fuck knows why.

What a cool thread. Good call on the revive.

I pick Sukiyaki, original japanese version. It has that old-school burlesque-y bump thing going one. Like Marilyn Monroe or sumpin.

I dig that all these older threads of goodness are coming back up.

These days, I think I'd strip to something by Poe. Probably "Hey Pretty." I don't think I have quite the energetic oomph for "Suffragette City" these days, but I'm pretty sure I can still do sultry.

Neil Hannan does a cover of "There is a Light that Never Goes Out" (on "The Smiths is Dead") which is a joy - he sings it like a Vegas lounge number (when he sings "To die by your side) you can tell he's winking and pointing at someone in the front row). Which would be good for full-on burlesque with ostrich feather fans.

"Child Brides" by the Auteurs for the more meditative moments.

I was considering Mindless Self-Indulgence's "Faggot" but to find the title, I had to read the lyrics from the rest of the album, and now I'm not sure if they're enormously homophobic or stuffed up their own irony. But "Dig me now, fuck me later/ and sing it to the tune of faggot, faggot, faggot..." is a good line to which to undress.
