What on earth does that legend at the bottom say? Call me an old perv, but to me it looks very much like "vulva eggs".

Ew.

Edited to slap forehead and say that I now realise it says "barbe tees". But it still looks like "vulva eggs".

...which would look great in a tee, of course. Picture this: Uncle Sam pointing at the viewer, instead of saying "uncle Sam needs you!" He would be whouting "Vulva Eggs!"

Hey - could we put Fool's bear icons in place of the small triangles in Persephone's design, and also switch the rightmost pole-person around so she's facing the others, almost as if they're knocking her down?

I thought it said "vague eggs", but Whiskey's version smashes that with a lead pipe.

i have no suggestions, as i am half way through my fucking dissertation about dubya and his love of fetuses (a lame excuse i know). just wanted to let you all know i dig it.

There you go: piccy of a smiling Dubya, wit ha speech bubble saying "I love Fetuses". Or even "I [heart] Fetuses". Or "I [heat] vulva eggs". Rock!

I like the idea of putting the bears. I would still like the bears and granny to be visually linked, but that can be done with color if not shape.

See the thing about the pole thingys is, they're supposed to be yelling at poor granny. If you turn one of them around, then it looks like that one's on granny's side & I want granny to look all alone and against the world.

Do people generally prefer the purple-black-buff color scheme over the pink-black-grey scheme? If I'm printing individual irons, it doesn't matter; they can be made to order, practically. But if I'm taking this out to be printed, we have to choose one.

Fool-- I'll PM you with my email address, if you don't mind sharing your bear graphic with me.

Just ideas, off the top of my head: The colour scheme is great as it stands. I don't know how you'd link Granny and the bears: are bear graphics with pink triangle bellies too fiddly? Also, is it possible to anthropomorphise Granny a little- by cutting a wedge into the triangle like a sad mouth, or giving Granny some sort of detailing in white, like a shirt collar. Because the rectangles have mouths and hair and poor Granny doesn't have anything.

I know! How about if I give granny a little mouth, too? [Oh. Duh. You already said that, I was reading too fast. Well I guess I must have read that, only it went straight to my subconscious & did not pass GO.]

I wasn't thinking about doing bears with pink triangle bellies... I was going to use the two Fool bears, the two little heads, and just color them the same color as granny. (Argh, picture would be worth 1000 words here.)

That's not hair by the way, they're crowns. Logo of Hallmark is a crown...

Which color do you like? The grey background or the sort of wheaty one?

Yeah, just making the bears purple is much better than my idea- wayyy too fiddly! I only thought of a triangle belly motif because of the icky hearts on the original kiss-kiss bears' overalls.

Will take a crash course, or I can send it to someone with good-fu.

Ooh! Ooh! I see a sad mouth wedge, and a couple of white circles (one large, one small) to suggest her hair done up in a bun.

Whose design was, um... Spooky Nana? Do I have the name right, or right enough that someone remembers what I'm talking about? I seem to remember she wore the kind of bun that I'm thinking of.

Morlock/1: Is the image on your hard-drive, or is it still out there in bad scary reality?

If it's not on your hard-drive, scan the image. Some print shops will do this for you if you don't have a scanner.

Once you've got the image saved on disk, you can upload it onto your website. If you don't have a website, either get one of those crappy Geocities things from Yahoo, or ask a friend nicely to upload it onto their website. (You won't be able to post the image directly from Geocities, but you can post a link so people will be able to see your design.) You can also send the image by email as an attatchment.

MC, thanks for the info. Image on disk (bitmap, perhaps not the best choice), and I've actually got some web-space out there somewhere, but never got round to using it. Should be able to figure it all out, but don't know how long that'll take.

Was just wondering if someone wanted to lend some web-wall until I got sorted.

Alrighty... now the one thing is, you're probably going to say, what the hell is that snowball thing floating behind granny's head; and the answer is her bun, or, the signifier of her granniness. I'm just going to say, I was saying what the hell the whole time I was doing this... but when I took it away, I missed it *intensely* ...so I left it in.

[Edited to say, the bun shows up a lot better in print than it does on screen here.]

Morlock, I'll PM you my email & you can send me your image to post. Though in the long run it'll be easier for you to set up your own free space, b/c if you're doing revisions you'll want to be throwing images on the web on a fairly rapid cycle. Mordant got a lead on a better free space here today.

That just rules, Oh Bride of Hades! The detaling on Queer Granny is grand. I like the top one better- the flat background gives the piece a nice retro feel.

I keep thinking of that old WB cartoon short, "The Dot and The Line"- it's like a 21st century version. Damn, I wish I could do stuff like that!

First, how are people with this last design? Not the orangey-sunburst one, that one I was just fooling around. The second-to-last one, I mean.

Next, there are a couple of ways I could go with t-shirt production, last night I actually worked out a mini <ahem> business plan and wrote a longish post that's parked on my laptop for the mo... but in short:

a) if only a few people want shirts, say three, I'll do the iron-ons and iron the shirts & we can barter or I'll sell them at cost,

b) if more than a few people want shirts, say six to eighteen, I'd probably rather do the iron-ons and send them to folks to iron on their own shirts, or

c) if lots of people want shirts, say more than eighteen, I'd look into getting them printed by my t-shirt vendor.

And, IMPORTANT, all of the above would be contingent upon everyone who collaborated on the design (grant, Mordant, Kit-Cat, gridley, todd, Fool, doubting thomas, and me) coming to an agreement about ownership issues (this the subject of my longish post. If we are actually ready to talk about this, I will post what I wrote.)

However, the demand's the thing at the moment... how many people actually want a queer granny shirt? Serious replies only, please.

1) I definitely want one.

2) I think just doing the iron-on's is fine. That way there's no worry about who wants what color and who wants what size.

3) As to ownership issues, I figure Grant said it, and Persephone did the work. And that pretty much settles that. (Unless, you think this will really make some money, then maybe we should make the honorable Tom Coates the owner?)

(edited to change now to no)

I certainly have no claims on the design, Persephone. It's pretty awesome.

Q. How 'bout stickers rather than /in addition to t-shirts? I think it would make a cool sticker.

And "Queer Granny" is a great name for a design company.

Hell, I just want a shirt. Or two.

And once the shirts are done, *definitely* send pictures to the Advocate.
