The zine yet again needs your submissions to keep itself going. We're particularly looking for articles for the Music and Art sections, but good stuff on anything going on in the world at the moment would be very much appreciated. So don't loll around, but DO SOMETHING CREATIVE AND PRODUCTIVE TODAY, before I have to start writing three articles a week on Buffy.

I've been racking my brains for things to write about for the music section.

I guess I just got nothing much to say.

Doesn't matter. Write down any old crap and I'll stick it up there.

Er. I mean - COME ON OLD CHAP - there must be something you'd like to talk about - from the gender-bending deviance of Bowie to the subversive Big Black? SURELY? Do you not have a SINGLE paean to Britney in your heart?

Umm, depending on how "And now a word from our sponsors" in FTVT goes, I could try to throw something together about comercials, but I don't really know how interesting it'd be. And hell, I'll write an article on Buffy.

Tom, I am planning to write a review of "Choke" for the Zine when i finally get it and would also like to write a little something about whether Liberty can be considered an intrinsic good.

But after the exams.

Being a newcomer to barbelith i will not propose myself to an article (too soon for that!!) but I will propose a theme that could be inserted in the art section: the image and it's ownership on the web. Even being too an ethics discussion there are in art, important issues related with it. What do you think?

All of this sounds great, but it's no good if I don't receive it! Please, people! PLEASE, writing isn't hard - it's kind of fun, and lots of people will read what you have said!

That's the scary bit darling. But will do.

Have a look under 'Books'under topic: 'Anyone read any of these?'. I made the new topic then immediately remembered about this thread. Apologies.

Ideally 500-1000 words - but I'll take longer if that's all you can manage. I think they're a bit long at the moment...

Did you get my e-mail, Mr C? Any feedback? Suggestions where to cut, or what to add, or how to end it? I'm still a bit stuck...

I plan to experiment on myself, making video cassettes which are just hours of comercials, try to find the quintessence of making people want things. That's the current plan, so please object now.

Maz, The Codes of Advertising.

Unless, of course, you don't want your thinkng framed first. The experiment you are about to embark upon is no fun. (i'll get around to expanding on this in yr thread, promise)

Tom, has anyone volunteered to do "The Runes in a nutshell" article? If not I'll write it for you, though it will be about two weeks before I can get it done. What's the word limit on the articles by the way?

Tom, are you still thinking 500-1000 words? None of the articles even come close so far. Do you want very broad summaries within that limit, or the long-ass attempts to address everything?

Tom Coates
08:15 / 02.07.01
All the current articles do tend to be a bit longer than that. I don't know what to say really. 500-1000 words is a nice and easy to read size for an online article, and it's not intimidating, so people can feel they can write them, but it might be that the subject matters we have chosen are just too involved for that length and that 1000-2000 words is more appropriate.
