Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
06:41 / 28.10.08
Mostly watching PUSHING DAISIES. Also, my dad's visiting for a couple days this week with his girlfriend. It's odd.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:48 / 01.11.08
O science~! Working at the library on Halloween Friday Night is so unbelievably dull...no chocolate left...only ennui.

Saint Keggers
01:59 / 01.11.08
Is it the little halloween bag sized mini ennui?

This Sunday
02:01 / 01.11.08
Due to my supreme inability to say no to anyone, I somehow said no to everyone for tonight, and am thus hanging out at home, on my own, with bourbon and chocolate and Romero zombie flicks.

Saint Keggers

"with bourbon and chocolate and Romero zombie flicks. "

*sigh* that sounds so very very nice.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:05 / 01.11.08
That sounds amazing, actually. I want bourbon and chocolate. Actually, I want all my blood squeezed out and replaced with bourbon and chocolate.

For the record, my ennui is highly-priced and snack-sized; it will be available at significant discount tomorrow morning. Check your grocery store.

Mulling / preparing / dreaming of Nanowrimo. I have booked off Monday through Saturday this coming week, so I have to get through two days of shitty, boring work before I can devote myself exclusively to creation.

This Sunday
02:06 / 01.11.08
I thought about making a drinking game of it, but:

Drink when there's a zombie - smashed quickly.

Drink when there's a political moment - smashed quicky.

Drink when there's dialogue doing double-duty - smashed..

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:07 / 01.11.08
Possibly going to watch the latest Indiana Jones movie tonight, or a plethora of old school 30s/40s sci-fi B-movies that the Accomplice downloaded.

Also, I discovered that someone wrote a book called "Salmonella Men on Planet Porno."

Saint Keggers
02:08 / 01.11.08
Drink when a zombie moans and/or groans in a foreign language.

Don't know if its a foreign language? For shame! Drink up!

Saint Keggers
02:09 / 01.11.08
Please for the love of all that is good and right in the world do not watch that movie. It will go back in tiem and ruion all previous Indiana Jones movies.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:09 / 01.11.08
Drink whenever main cast member dies and becomes a zombie. Drink whenever there's a shotgun on screen. Drink whenever main characters lock themselves into an increasingly small space and still pretend like they're going to make it.

Salmonella Men on Planet Porno

It was only a matter of time.

Oh, and you may want to check out the new Warren Ellis, Aetheric Mechanics if you get a chance. I like that he turned my irritation into bait on me. The sting worked well.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:12 / 01.11.08
Oh, I have no illusions that it is anything but high-budget shit, but it'll give us something to direct our hatred of modern society towards.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:13 / 01.11.08
Aetheric Mechanics was quite lovely, even if it's just AU Sherlock Holmes steampunk fanfiction. I would have started a thread on it in the Comics but I didn't feel like sitting through a chorus of SHUT UP, ELLIS. I'm quite fond of the art and I was thinking of investigating the artist's other works.

Which irritation did he invert, Dec?

Saint Keggers
02:14 / 01.11.08
SHUT UP, ELLIS!!

Saint Keggers
02:14 / 01.11.08
(sorry, couldnt help myself.!)

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:14 / 01.11.08
That's the one.

This Sunday
02:19 / 01.11.08
The it's Zenda/Holmes fanfic! irritation. Which it is in story, and is the point, so that's alright, then.

And I did find the end brutallly romantic, for a bullet in the face.

Reminded me a lot that Blue somethingorother he did, the mass murderer in the matrix thing. Gave me hope for the next issue of Planetary, more than a lot of recent work of his has.

And, yeah, I was avoiding mentioning it in Comics, for that exact reason (Damn you, Keggers! Damn you! ^_^).

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:24 / 01.11.08
Ah yes, Zenda.

It was interesting in that, unlike a lot of recent comic book metafiction (Morrison's, in particular), the Ellis metafiction didn't make me want to claw my own eyes out because of the repetition. And, yes, the emotional climax is sort of breathtaking simply because that's exactly the sort of romantic epiphany Holmes would have, and it did surprise me.

Ellis is very much a fifty-fifty person with me. I looked at the trade for Doktor Sleepless today and nearly bought it, but I still don't know if I want to read it or not.

This Sunday
02:30 / 01.11.08
DS was fifty/fifty for me. Some of the actual story doesn't really interest me, some does. The lectures and ruminations, though, those I dig - the part that probably annoys most people.

Saint Keggers
02:30 / 01.11.08
How can you tell Im not a comics person? I've just looked at the Ellis blibliography and I havent read single thing on there.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:31 / 01.11.08
Dear Science, but I'm going to need a drink when I get off work. Garçon? A little wine, s'il-vous plait?

Saint Keggers
02:32 / 01.11.08
Thats a great idea...wine. Im going to pour myself some wine. You guys are geniuses!

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:36 / 01.11.08
I love the ruminations and lectures, you're not alone. Aetheric just proved to me that he's at his best doing totally random genre Apparat books.

Kegs-- the Apparat things are the best. He did a bunch of one-shot pulp stories based on an alternate comics history where superheroes never became prominent and other genres flourished. It was a really neat idea and he worked with some great artists.

This Sunday
02:37 / 01.11.08
I'm surprised we've gone two pages into one of these, and no one's mentioned cheeses I've never eaten yet.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:39 / 01.11.08
Well, I had a really lovely boccocini salad the other day. Boccocini's worth living for, if it's proper deli stuff.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:39 / 01.11.08
Also, PUSHING DAISIES stuck in my head the idea of a pear pie with gruyere baked into the crust.

Saint Keggers
02:42 / 01.11.08
I have bags of pears sitting in the porch. And a pear crisp in the fridge. pears are awesome.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:44 / 01.11.08
WANT PEAR CRISP~!

Saint Keggers
02:46 / 01.11.08
I dont think it mails well.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:48 / 01.11.08
Damn.

This Sunday
02:50 / 01.11.08
I should check out this season of Pushing Daisies, before the show goes away, but the main character annoys me so much, it's hard to focus on everyone else, who're quite good.

Saint Keggers
02:52 / 01.11.08
Watching PD reminds me of watching Lemoney Snicket... except far far too happy and self aware.

Saint Keggers
05:37 / 01.11.08
Well.

Alright then..

G'night chaps, until the next!

Papess
01:20 / 06.11.08
Good Evening my lovelies. I am up still, doing laundry, making lunches and writing Nanowrimo. I am so behind.

Anyone out there?
