I ended up asking my twitter and got a load of responses. The Beguiling is the one people suggest, which is actually one I've heard of, so that's probably a vote in its favour. Unless it's one of the ones you've already tried.

Er... actually, that was heroic fail. It's Montreal, not Toronoto.

I know, albeit obliquely, someone who is good friends with a comic shop worker in Montreal. I suppose I can ask in a roundabout way.

Kieron--letting you know that I went into my local comics retailer today and he had 2 & 3 waiting for me! Yay!!!

MattShepherd here -- posting on Kali's account as my 'puter is experiencing CATASTROPHIC FAIL -- just wanted to say that the Beguiling is above and beyond, 1000% the best comics shop in Toronto; supportive of indie books and brilliant for longer than I've been able to read comics. So not epic fail at all, just geographically a bit beyond reach.

The LCS is a cubbyhole in the back of a local board game store, run by a game but somewhat forgetful Francophone, but Kali's firm insistence that Phonogram must be had won the day. Quality wins!

Hurrah! There's a happy ending to this tale of woe. Except I have a brutal hangover, so there's a bittersweetness underlying it. Man!

this thread is about the only sign of live on barbelith these days. is there somewhere else we can take it?

loving the latest issue more with each read. especially kid with knifes take on rue brittania, it reads like the hollywood treatment. very very droll.

Just finished 2 & 3. I am intrigued by the small pieces with Indie Dave. They're ethereal yet somehow very spooky.

Kieron - any sign of a reprint, mate? I'm jonesing something awful over here.

I admit, I was really pleased with how the Kwk Rue Britannia turned out. When writing it I was thinking it wouldn't be funny, but when I got the art back, I found myself wondering "Why on earth did you spend 6 issues telling this when it works much better in 4 pages".

Ice Cream: Which issues you looking for? Last I heard, there's copies of them all out there. If you're London based, Gosh and FP have 'em all.

Kieron, I'm in Glasgow, but apparently the London FP bought them all up and there were none left for the provinces. It's just issue 3 I'm missing, though and I'm sure it'll work its way northwards at some point.

Bloody London.

Don't FP do internal distribution any more, in terms of being able to get London to send issues up? When an Ex of mine worked there, I believe they did. I do know Traveling Man does.

"Why on earth did you spend 6 issues telling this when it works much better in 4 pages"

well, thats the old prog vs punk dichotomy i suppose. although i don't suppose it would have been as good in 4 pages if you hadn't done the triple lp with roger dean artwork version first.

You can't gaze into the Abyss. But you can take the piss.

New issue out next week, btw. Also, T-shirts at San Diego.

Still no third issue, but the fourth's lovely, lovely, lovely.

"I didn't know Kohl was epileptic" had me snorting on the walk home. I admit that I did once refer to a ...larger girl wearing a Public Enemy hoodie with the words "Big Target", but I'm not quite as cutting as Seth.

A Phonogram (Spotify) playlist is a hard thing to get right, by the way - although I think I had Atomic on there already.

I get it! It's funny, because she's fat! And she has a target on her! And she should know better, because she's so fat that it would be really easy to shoot her! So she should know better than to be fat and to wear something with a target on, because of the aforementioned!

Oh, man. I have ONLY NICE THINGS to say about your comedy stylings, Ice Cream.

Believe me, I'm not proud of saying it - I only meant I understand Seth's bitchiness.

Sheesh. Okay, I'll just apologise for something I did hmm... 14 years ago (I think).

I'm so sorry! I didn't want to make you feel bad! It's hard to keep straight people in comics (who don't have feelings) and people in the world (who do). I'm getting a lot of therapy to try to tell them apart,.

Back ontopic - hopefully I'll get this today. Exciting!

(threadrot) Clearly I have feelings, they're just bad ones. Perhaps I should seek therapy. (/threadrot)

Ontopic - it is very exciting - you will enjoy it immensely, ONLY NICE THINGS.

Every week since the fourth issue came out, I have asked at my comic shop if they have gotten it in. They have continued to fail to procure it.

I suspect they secretly hate me.

The first three, however, I have managed to acquire, and have enjoyed immensely.

I am pleased to learn that since I ordered Phonogram #3 from my local comic shop here in Quebec, I wandered in yesterday and was immediately handed Phonogram #4.

Somebody's keeping track for me. SCORE!

After I read it, I had a dream later that night that Kieron and I were hanging out in a diner. He had a vinyl single in his lap because he was waiting on a girl to show up; she did, but with her girlfriend in tow. Kieron was obviously not expecting that and broke the single in half. I offered to buy him drinks later that night.

Weird weird dream.

That wasn't a dream. That was a phonogram plot, I fear.

seems like the right thread to note that noel just left oasis, shame he didn't split them up after definitely maybe and they could have enjoyed the same unfounded adulation the stone roses did rather than just wallowing in money and MOR guitar rock for 16 years.

loving issue 4 btw, and looking forward to 5. thanks.

Liking the cover a lot, much as I do the luxurious black cotton number I ordered and received from Khepri last week.

We're aiming to get the trade out for Christmas. Seems appropriate, somehow.

Issue 5 out yet? Going to Montreal this weekend and want to know if I should keep the peepers peeled for it.
