Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:07 / 20.07.07
Glad you're enjoying it.

The island in question is Vancouver Island, and is a lovely place to visit but is probably in a parallel universe. You know, rum-ganache-filled eggs and the like. For every rumball there will be a ghost rumball, and some strange information passed between them.

Papess
03:11 / 20.07.07
I was just there last summer. Lovely island, indeed. I will have to go back there again. It is exceptionally lovely...and to think I missed the chocolate rum eggs!

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:13 / 20.07.07
I actually banned myself from having any sushi this week (normally I have it 3-4 times a week) for the sake of escaping culinary ruts. I had Jamaican on Tuesday, bad pub food last night (followed by the lovely cheesecake at an Italian restaurant while the Yiddish Columbia State Orchestra covered an instrumental-only version of Roy Orbison's "Crying"), Vegan Buddhist Chinese food for lunch, and then made the salmon tonight.

This Sunday
03:13 / 20.07.07
Those are really cute. I'm still better with chopsticks than I am a fork and knife (nevermind cut-and-switch), but I may need to buy a set, for research purposes. I'm thinking I'd really like my hair to look like a combination of the boy and girl chopstick-holders, if it could be done without giant baldy spots.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:14 / 20.07.07
You were here last summer? Where did you go? Victoria? If you come again, and you're in Victoria, the Thrifty's grocery stores all have the rumball egg things.

RumBall Recipe

Papess
03:15 / 20.07.07
Dammit! I am getting too hungry! It is after midnight, and it is not time to eat. arrgh.

Papess
03:17 / 20.07.07
Yep, Victoria and Sooke, Papers.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:17 / 20.07.07
I may be forced to eat mint chocolate ice cream at this rate.

Saint Keggers
03:18 / 20.07.07
I got out the Doritos

This Sunday
03:18 / 20.07.07
MO, 'after midnight' means it's time for After Midnight Snacks. That's how these things work. Also, you can get a jumpstart on breakfast, or have a second or third dinner.

I hope food-thread is making even those currently eating hungry. Otherwise, we don't love our food enough. Even the rum-based chocolatey ones.

Papess
03:21 / 20.07.07
Cut and switch? That makes me cringe. Sorry. I have some weird thing about dining ettiquette and table manners. Yeah, just a pet peeve.

Carry on.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:23 / 20.07.07
I won't have you implying that I wouldn't fight and die in a war for those chocolate rum confections. I won't have it.

Medulla - where are you usually-abouts? Did you go to the Sooke potholes?

Papess
03:24 / 20.07.07
SO true, DN. And after midnight snacks require little to no dining etiquette.

This Sunday
03:26 / 20.07.07
Papers, since I'm now indulging in (non-milk) creme de menthe and chocolate ice cream, solely on inspiration from you posting the words 'chocolate', 'ice', and 'cream' (in different posts, even), clearly you love your desserty things beyond question.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
03:26 / 20.07.07
Irrelevant as I am in current conversation, I just gorged meself on pizza.

Rum balls are delicious but dangerous.

Saint Keggers
03:28 / 20.07.07
ugh... do I open another bottle of wine... I only have four to last until the next batch is ready.. 3-4 weeks.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:30 / 20.07.07
Kali - just smear chocolate all over the pizza and you're good to go with the current conversation.

I wish I had some amarula to go with the ice cream, although I don't think I could pour it on the mint chocolate - amarula + mint chocolate would probably taste horrible.

Saint Keggers
03:31 / 20.07.07
I misread that as "I wish I had some arugula to go with the ice cream"

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:34 / 20.07.07
Arugula would be terrible, although arugula ice cream borders on the surreal to the point where it might cross over into fabulous.

Amarula, of course, is a liquor for intoxicating elephants with. And then sending them in the direction of neighbouring villages.

Papess
03:34 / 20.07.07
No pothole, just crab catch"n"release and garden parties.

Venger, you may not make it anyway.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:37 / 20.07.07
Ah, garden parties. Truly, I live in a promised land of many, many garden parties. And picnics. With big, majestic wheels of cammembert and brie, direct from up-island.

Papess
03:38 / 20.07.07
I adore arugula. I have an arugula plant. It actually grows for me and gives me tiny peppery leaves for my salad. yummy. Arugula ice cream? You know, I could get into that. And coriander ice cream, too. ON wafers with parmasean or asiago...yeah, oh yeah.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:39 / 20.07.07
There was a company - Island Creek - which has since shut-down, but back in the day it produced lavender ice cream, chai ice cream, etcera. I'm fairly certain they had a coriander flavour as well. Typically, it cost most of your upper torso to buy a small carton.

Papess
03:40 / 20.07.07
Parmasean and asiago for the arugula. Chevre for the corriander.

Uh oh. Cheese territory.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:42 / 20.07.07
A slice of warm brie covered by a spoonful of Branston Pickle, on top of a piece of baguette.

Papess
03:42 / 20.07.07
I have heard of them, Papers.
You all realise, I am now going to have to make this. My dear friend told me I should get into culinary arts. Hmm, and marketing!

This Sunday
03:43 / 20.07.07
Venger, if you're destined to run out, might as well run out in a swell of wine-suffused pleasure.

I just read the ingredients on that ice cream, and... they have to put them in order of how much there is, right? Apparently there's more creme de menthe in there than, well, a lot of stuff.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:45 / 20.07.07
This is a good conversation to have while writing. Also, while ripping Nina Simone tracks and prepping them for iPod dumping. And avoiding the dishes.

Now I need to write a description of an art deco elevator.

Papess
03:46 / 20.07.07
Now you are just being cruel, Papers! I must have a snack!

Saint Keggers
03:48 / 20.07.07
Speaking of cheeses, I want some Gbejniet.

This Sunday
03:49 / 20.07.07
I remember, a handful of years ago when I was in upstate New York, I noticed there was a lot of chai ice cream available, at virtually every grocery or convenience store. Cheaply. I could never figure out why there, of all places. On revisiting, I found the golden moment had passed.

It was nice while it lasted, though.

So far, I've found nowhere to have just regular, proper mint icecream (vaguely pinkish, white ice cream without chocolate or anything else, just the mint) except around the Christmas season. If Vancouver has such, as well as having these rumballs, I may have to move there. Or import vast sums as cheaply as possible.

Papess
03:49 / 20.07.07
That is exactly what I a thinking, Venger. I just happen to have some.

Saint Keggers
03:50 / 20.07.07
Sigh. I REALLY must find some place that sells it.

Papess
03:51 / 20.07.07
It is gorgeous, DN. If I didn't fear it falling into the ocean so much, I would move there.
