Rum balls are made of thus: make a chocolate ganache equal parts rum, cream, and lotsa high quality chocolate. Soft enough to harden, but not too hard as to be unusuable. When you have frozen the ganache--and because ganache has is partly cream, you will not find this improbable and not too solid--take an ice cream scoop and carve large curls of chocolate into "balls." Works best if you have cool hands. When you have carved most of the semi-frozen chocolate into balls placed onto a cookie sheet with nonstick parchment or foil, then roll balls into mixture of crushed wafers and rum. Refrigerate.
