Well, this is something I was thinking about the other day. I think in all art, you get points just for trying. Like there's all this terrible stuff, and it's popular, just because they actually made the effort to put it out there.
Just as there's all these amazingly talented people who are cripplingly neurotic that always just fall short of actually getting their dream project together.
This is why we have Kasabian, say. Or Razorlight. With their stock moves and poses that are like a photocopy of something they once saw when they were 12, all artifice and hanging lyrics on things that sound like they might be interesting or important, but when you get down to the actual content it's just about how he smoked a cigarette, went out, came home - said America once or twice - and hoped that somebody would just appropriate some important political meaning to that while he looks at himself in the mirror and perfects looking delicately wasted because it's just too hard to care.
Um, what was I saying? |
