Hello, got back this evening from the vet. My cat has some kind of bacteriological UTI, just as I suspected. They gave me some antibiotics and some pain medicine, and I have to bring her back in a week for a follow-up.

So, what’s your brand, pw? I’m betting Regal. I can see you with that classic blue stripe for some reason.

Evening, all. So, I’ve just got off the phone - well, I’ve just put the phone down, anyway - and it hits me how text messaging is, like, a totally odd thing for grown-ups to do. It feels a bit like passing notes to someone under the desk.

Or possibly passing notes, under the desk, to someone.

Or something. Anyway, that thing you did when you were at school. Note-passing.

...

Anyway. Oh, jolly good news that your cat has some medicine now, liger.

Thanks Bedhead, they also said that aside from the infection, she's perfectly healthy

We've probably found a flat today, so long as we get approved by the landlord tomorrow. I'm gonna live with girls. It's a scary prospect.

As we walked away from that flat, we saw a yellow police incident board; Murder. Then I went back to my old flat in Bethnal Green. Both in front and behind my flat here, all different bits have been cordoned off. Gang stabbings, or something, I believe. Multiple stabbings, at least. Will have a looky on BBC website now...

I love London.

Note passing will always be cool.

It's quick and secret, like.

As long as you delete it from your outbox as soon as you've sent it, as I've learned through experience via my sometimes paranoid partner...

As for cancer, agreed Stoatie, but I'm realising ever more as the weeks pass that smoking is turning me into a coughing B-movie nightmare monster.

I visited my uncle in hospital recently and from his ward window I could look down upon the dying smokers with amputated limbs and hacking coughs sitting outside to smoke their last few packs of cigs.

I look at my son and know I don't want to end up there.

Anyone know any good jokes?

Liger - well, yeah, a 'UTI' really doesn’t sound much fun at all, but yay that she’ll be totally super-fit once she’s rid of it. It's *argh, poor cat* in the meantime, but *yay* that the infection is on its way.

Hey, ‘Bop, one solitary incident board doesn’t mean the new flat is in a particularly bad location, necessarily. That might be the only murder they’ve ever had around there. Or it could be the last one for years! - he said, trying to be super-positive.

And no, I don’t know any good jokes. But I’m probably going to sit here clicking ‘refresh’ until Stoatie shares one of his.

Wakey wakey Barbelith. The evening that I had anticipated has not panned out, so instead I have wine and MF DOOM rocking my world. I've started a new regime of emailing DOOM lyrics on a daily basis to a friend, until he admits that it is some of the greatest music ever made.

What's keeping your jaded selves from ending it all in a jumble of oven gloves and pyrex?

Hi. And liger- next time you pass by this thread- glad to hear kitty's gonna be OK.

I got given a bunch of money by a fellow 'lither (who owed me a bunch of money, but I wasn't expecting it so soon) yesterday. So I now have an Xbox 360. It's ACE. Dead Rising could possibly be the best game ever.

cog- Musicwise I'm all about the new Mastodon album today. It's metal without all the bullshit... but not nu-metal either. It's proper metal. Just done really, really well.

It's cog with a geeee. Too late to change it now.

Not so much into the metal myself, but I am into the last Lightning Bolt record. To my unexpert ears it sounds like metal with all the silliness stripped out, and then scrunched up a bit, like crumple zones in a car.

360 yay. I love visiting my mates' 360 having household. Call of Duty (2 or 3??) was excellent fun.

Last Lightning Bolt album? Hypermagic Mountain?

That's TOTALLY metal. It's like Motorhead. Only taller.

I reviewed it for TangoMango's site... I was very drunk, and have little or no memory of actually writing this, but...

If you want noise, but you're getting a little bored of power electronics and want something that goes right back to the roots of Rock and Roll, pulls them out of the ground screaming like mandrakes, mixes them with crack and smokes them in an enormous bong made from the skulls of its enemies, then this is it. Words can't do Hypermagic Mountain justice. Although if they could, they'd be onomatopaeic words. Stuff like "bang", "screech" and "duggadugaURGGGGHHHH!!!"

Just started listening to it again now. Will report impressions as I go.

Took this photo yesterday during a huge 4 hour storm. One bolt was so close I literally danced back inside the flat yelping like a puppy.

God dammit, i can never remember how to link etc

it took me long enough to get it. There were bolts going off every 10 seconds and I think this was photo number 100 near enough.

Lighning Bolt (the music) is going rather well. reminding me of some late 80s/early 90s stuff that Steve Albini was doing or produced. Bitch Magnet, that's the name. Was the LP called Umber?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
20:07 / 13.09.06
Sounds familiar.

A friend of mine, a sound engineer, worked with Albini once. Given that he's the most cynical man I know, when he said he was starstruck it was quite impressive. My friend's a huge Whitehouse fan, too, and he asked Albini about what it was like working with them. He was utterly disappointed. Apparently it was quite dull. That said, he IS very cynical...

Jeez. Track 10 and I've got a headache.

ah, it's calmed down into a sort of droney pulse.

Tomorrow plans anyone? I shall be studying, flat hunting, meeting a new language exchange person and then meeting some friends from out of town later.

I have no idea what you said, but I bet it was cool. Tomorrow for me will probably involve lots of gaming, a spot of writing and going to lilly and TangoMango's house for their daughter's fifth birthday (yeah, I know I hate kids, but I make an exception for that one).

My "children" are programmable clones of myself. Much more loyal than children.

Still can't fix that bed-wetting problem though.

Hello all, it's a suitably thunder'n'lightning lashed night round these parts.
