I always thought that wine did taste like Ribena when I was a kid, and then I found it didn't and was sad.

Now a nice bottle of Balvenie whisky, flavoured in Port barrels would go down a treat right now.

Is there a name for those plastic wall organiser things with lots of pockets? Transparent. Like for storing shoes, only not.

I've ben trying to get one for weeks now, and can't find one anywhere.

See, nowadays, I’m upset to find that Ribina doesn’t taste like wine. Ribina is such a disappointment now that I’m a grown-up. They should make a special winey-flavoured version of ribina. Put it in a Red Bull-shaped can, call it 'Vinotonic' 'performance' drink, make a zillion dollars.

Oooh. And I came to barbelith thinking I’ll haveabitofalateshift, then I thought, “it’s a Saturday night, surely everyone should all be out dancing right now.” But look! here you are, shifting away! Sorta glad to see I’m not the only one staying in and dancing. Er, although I am kinda assuming that you’re dancing to those CDs, cog. They might be of whalesong or 'Hugh Frazer reads a Hercule Poirot adventure' for all I know. That’d be a challenge. Although it might be rewarding. I don’t know.

Anyway, glad you're all here. Hello!

No dancing here. Very chilled atmospheric noodling going on.

I taped the V festival on Thursday (only interested in Morrissey’s performance of course) but my freeview is quite temperamental and I recorded it without the sound. Today I bought Morrissey’s “enhanced” new single but I can’t figure out how to watch the video. I want to watch Morrissey and listen to him at the same time. And feel him. That would be nice...

One can do an ‘interpretive’ dance to chilled atmospheric noodling! If one has the energy, that is. Although it’s not the usual thing to do, certainly.

It scares me.

It scares me too! Cog, dude, you’re scaring me. It’s like the phantom zone. The superman-the-movie phantom zone. All you've got to do now is just launch me into space, and hear me screeeaam for all eternity, man.

You can't meta-universe the whole of the Barbelith late shift and then go to bed! What kind of outrageous behaviour is that?

Oh, goodnight cog. All worn out, sleep well. And the booze hasn’t even started flowing at Bed Towers, too. I am guzzling up any and all lateshiftish boozy talk instead.

Good evening, my lovelies.

I have to say, I'm on the other side of the red wine/ Ribena debate. I find red wine dissapointing, because it doesn't taste like Ribena. But then I am still a child, really.

What happens when you turn 20? I'm scared. Although I'd be perfectly happy if I started appreciating red wine.

This evening, I am contempating whether the Highland Council would employ a circus artist in residence- or more precicely, two. They welcome applications from all sectors of the arts, by October 2nd. Now, we don't finish college until next August. I wonder if we can convince them to employ two newbies who aren't even available yet.

Was that shameless plugging I heard? Oh yes. I spanked up our first wee crappy website today. I bring you So & So Circus Theatre.

Hello everybody!
I saw Frankie Muniz (Malcon in The Middle) t the pub last night. Weird.

Oh my. It's GeeBee! *waves* And yay for So & So! What would Highland circus-artists-in-residence do. exactly? Would you travel the highlands with a big tent? Also: oooh, you really should start a thread in Creation asking for circus posters. Circus posters being ace, and all. If you wanted to, like. But circus posters are ace. Yay circus.

Heh, I would think it very unlikely that there are many. Angel does a little static trapeze, and Keggers knows a costume designer for Cirque du Soleil I think... but I reckon that's the extent of it.

The other artists-in-residence up here hold classes in community centres and do week-long workshops etc. It would still (probably) give us time to do performing work, but we would be, obviously, in the Highlands. Umm... and there's not too much performing work up here. Could nip down to Edinburgh for stuff. I think, really, it's an opportunity for once we're a bit more established. Might put in a proposal to them just for the hell of it. There aren't many opportunities for me to be both doing circus and being up North.

How is the life of the Bed?

The older I get the more expensive $7.50 a pint seems. Thankfully my house once again smells like a brewery and there will be another attempt at pear wine next month and chokecherry wine and right now Im making apple wine and in a few weeks I start making beer.
Yet, strangely Im drinking coffee now.

ps. Hi GeeBee long time no see.

Gingerbop, I think you definitely should put in a proposal, there can't be many circus acts like yours.

I think your red wine taste will develop, mine did round about twenty two or three.

Saint Keggers
22:32 / 26.08.06
yeah, same here. I used to be a white whine drinker then suddenly it was all about the red. Mmmmm red wine.

Oh yes, definitely put in the proposal, GB. Aside from anything else, it’s good experience for you, but apart from that you really should give them the opportunity to give you the residency. It's the nice thing to do.

And Keg, Keg, Keg: was seeing Frankie Whoosit a good thing, or a bad thing, or just a common-or-garden weird thing? Was it seeing to talk to, or just oh, hey, look-style seeing across the room? Were they a disappointment in person, or shorter-than-you-expected, or were they Outrageously Drunk in public, or what? Who were they with? Do you like Malcolm In The Middle? I’ve never seen it. etc. I am all-agog now.

Aaannd my life’s been feeling unexpectedly flat and grey this week, all week long, with a faint ruby-red glimmer of hope that’s been keeping me going. Because I’ve been enduring the utter HORROR that is a totally wine-free week. I think I realised this was a stupid plan about Thursday-ish, but somehow I’ve toughed it out. But now Sunday is here and the drought is over. Oh, hurrah for Sunday.

Fine, ta. Just had friends around and ought to sleep but thanks to heavy afternoon snoozage, don't want it. More booze, I think. I'm spending my time trying to find my copy of The Music Show from last year that has me dressed as V. No joy. Hmmm..

Oh, well then I won’t ask you how the afternoon drama on Radio 4 finished, cube. I was lying there listening to it, and the next thing I know Ned Sherrin’s doing his opening monologue and I have to get up. Saturday afternoon snoozage - any afternoon snoozage, in fact - there’s nothing like it, but it does kinda tend to spoil afternoon plays. Silly plays.

Did you ask him if he was old enough to be drinking?

I got ID'd buying whisky today. I'm 24 and going gray so I wasn't sure if I should be flattered or insulted. I tend to side with the former in those situations though.

Bed Head, can you show us something pretty? I like it when that happens.
