Let's see - how are people about having a lot of bands play far into the night? If we have Burning Idiot Noise, Hunting Lodge, Morning Bride, Planetman and possibly the Stella Maris Drone Orchestra (my outfit) playing say, 45 minutes to an hour each, with changeovers, that's about 5-6 hours of live music. Which is great, though it depends on people being up for playing at for example 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am and 2am, roughly.

The good thing about Corsica is this is entrely possible to do as they thrive on all-nighters. We've certainly had Kosmische live acts going on well until 2am.

Sorry guys. I can't make 10th March.

OK, thanks for the update Seth.

So, if not the 10th March, would we consider the 16th, given that it is a Friday?

Failing this, given that Corsica is dependent on a) lots of people and b) booking well in advance, how would everyone feel about playing/attending a less central venue?

I can think of a few that are still further underground (though not literally) but less easy to get to as a result?

I'm sure we can trust you to come up with a suitable replacement. Whatever you prefer. Anytime in March is suitable for us.

16th March is good for me.

Hello there, would love to attend my first Barbegig and see what the life and soul of these forums is really like. From my experience going to Mr Dickon Edwards monthly extravaganza and the Glamourama events am I to expect something similar?
Is it Glitz, Glam and pomp or just a straight forward gig?
Cheers, Kevin.

To an extent, that depends on us as Barbelith and how we would like to contribute to the night...

Bugger. Our singer can't do 16th March.

Given that it's becoming difficult to get a night sorted to all include all the bands - especially the three initially planne dfor - I think we'll have to shelve Corsica as a venue for now. I propose putting on a smaller gig with less bands at a different venue, seeing how that goes as a first run, and then doing a bigger night if it all works out.

Another venue is being investigated. It will be on a Saturday night, but when is yet to be determined. Help and non-musical participation still more than welcome.

Perhaps if people posted when they can do it would make things easier?

Yes, that would help quite a lot, especially as tours and so forth are now getting underway.

As I've said, anytime is good. Sooner we know the better.

Having said that, can't do the 16th of March now.

For what it's worth, the people involved in The Traveling Far-Right Crocodile Bunker Show will ideally be available to perform their very short, Nico and Bavarian Oompah Band-influenced, set whenever's convenient.

The singer's capricious, to say the very least, but we're hoping to talk him into covering 'Janitor Of Lunacy' and/or 'I'll Be Your Mirror', as well as performing the long, experimental piece that he's currently been up for days writing, his arms like pin cusions, his eyes ... so dark, which is called '1933, 1945,' and deals with much the kind of issues one would expect, I guess.

Just so everyone knows, this isn't going to happen in March or April now as things have got a too little busy with other matters. I'll return to planning and scheming things after Easter. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

It is, and I was thinking about this last night. My current thoughts are veering towards just doing a test run at a smaller, easier to manage venue with Morning Bride, Hunting Lodge and Burning Idiot Noise + BarbeDJs. Nothing fancy at first, then we can see how it goes and take things further from there.

How does that sound to people, especially the bands concerned?

Sounds pretty much like what I thought it was going to be. A gig. A Barbe Gig. Lovely. I.m sure the rest of Burning Idiot Noise will be fine to do it.

You know, you should just book the venue regardless. once that is done, everything else will fall into place, as there will be increasingly less time for procrastination and with a bit of pressure on, suddenly people will start getting things done..

Yep just booking the venue and going for it is a very good idea - it will work out believe me.

Otherwise it may never happen. Just take a look back through this thread and check out all the prospective dates that have since past.

Um... Cheeky as heck, but if any more acts are needed, could I possibly put forward my acoustic two-piece Mechanical Sunrise. We're a sort-of alt folk outfit and would love to play, plus we're incredibly easy to set-up and soundcheck (two mics, two DIs, job done.)

Also, someone mentioned a practise barbe-gig... Now it's not London based, but where I live in fair Tunbridge Wells we have a great local venue called The Forum. it's one of the more famous 'toilet circuit' venues and has a capacity of around 200 (and a lovely atmosphere.) I'm good friends with the guys that run it, and could easily sort out a night there. As I say, it's in Tunny Wells, so travel may be a problem (though it's only a 45 minute train ride from Charring Cross). Anyway, thought i'd chuck it out there in case anyone wanted to bite.

The Forum is where I played my first gig with Hunting Lodge three years ago! No one really knew what to make of us.

I didn't back then either. Not sure I do now...
