Hi velvetvandal, yes, I think the humans are to be pets. I read your theory of Cylon caste but I don't see much evidence of it. I think the models were obviously created equal. When the Cylons design for a purpose they produce things as different as the models, the raiders and the centurions. I might be wrong though. I imagine the twelve models were supposed to be the eigenstates - sort of pure forms - of their genetic potential. They were intended to be mixed through breeding to produce the complete variety of possible Cylons. Unfortunately they found couldn't reproduce. The centurions are just machines.
But the models are not simply machines and I think Brother Cavill lies when he opens his mouth. There was obviously a split in the Cylons following the events shown in Downloaded. We know that the original idea was to wipe out the humans as they were potentially too dangerous to be let live, the new view was that they were lovable and could be controlled. It is possible that Cavill represents a third way, but it's far more likely that he belongs to the original ideology and is seeking to use the humans against this new group in some way. I'm willing to wait and see though.
I've just read Our Lady's post and in that case I'm probably wrong and the original ideology also changed, presumably to that presented by Cavill, or something similar - at any rate isolationist. |
