In a parallel world right now we are all discussing the tragic minor electrical repairs which were carried out by Jean Charles de Menezes and why the armed police didn't take down the electrician they were chasing sooner.

(Sorry, Quantum, not having a go at you and I totally knew what you meant. I just couldn't help rewriting it in the light of the new information...)

Also, how inappropriate is it, given that I have an estate agent coming round to value my house in a minute, to wonder how much the existence of an "Al-Qaeda Bomb Factory" ((C)(TM) The Sun (etc)) on the doorstep will affect property prices?

or as my mate mike put it

In a parallel world right now we are all discussing the tragic deaths of the commuters and why the armed police didn't know that the train in question was an evil decpticon until it transformed, crushing 350 people.

In a parallel world right now we are all discussing the tragic deaths of the Man Utd. soccer team in Munich in 1958 and why armed police didn't execute German electricians in order to prevent it, bastards

Yeah, after he turned out to be an electrician and not a bomber I felt a bit bad.

In various RPGs I used to run the London Underground was always a den of evil infested with dark creatures, and a catchphrase was 'Never travel on the Underground'. Seems innapropriate but somehow apt. as it's now a personal rule.

And they want to build one of the fucking things under Hackney? Never, I say. Never. We've already got all the places you could feasibly want to be shot right here, at street level.

Can't help you Deva, I'm just passing on the link someone gave me, and I'm putting it here because I can't guarentee it's providence (LGF have also posted it and claim it's genuine, but they're a bunch of crazy people, so their claims that it's genuine should also be disregarded). Of course, a la Banksy anyone could do this if they had a marker pen...

All these new security regulations on airlines in the wake of the "thwarted atrocity"... what I want to know is, can I still take snakes on a plane?

Snakes yes.

Bottle of water or other liquid? No. Samuel says so:

Brilliant.

And books are banned as well. If I had to spend eight hours on a plane without any reading materials and being forced to watch mind numbing Hollywood movies I would want to blow myself up.

But without liquids, if one has a thirst how can one slake on a plane?

Statement From BA

Millions are now facing travel misery with hundreds still stranded at major airports, and the chaos looks set to continue for some time to come. Moreover, the situation is being exacerbated by rumour, misinformation, confusion and fear relating to transatlantic air travel, and the fact that accessing the relevant airline/airport websites is almost impossible due to the heavy traffic. In this regard, BA recently issued a statement to the public which may be taken as definitive clarification of the situation:

---------------------------------------------------
PLS FORWARD - STATEMENT ISSUED BY BA, 1600 GMT HRS, 11.08.06:
"I ain't gittin' on no plane, fool!"
