Oh, my heart, my heart. The shock. How shall I ever recover.

I hope you had the speakers on too :-)

Yes I had speakers. I had vast, collosal speakers of spiritual joy, which I had only that moment finished crafting from purest Vibratarium.

They shattered under the pure horror of your trite practical joke.

My neighbours--a sheltered community for the retired and medically surprised, who I had enlisted in my magickal endevour--were so horribly fucked by your link that they have imploded into a small but hostile jellyfishlike creature that calls itself Molly J. Herculese (sic).

All that is left of the carefully prepared creature of beauty and light that we dreamed of--that some of us died for--is a shivered remnant that can't even spell.

It calls you Daddy. Deal with it.

Because of you, the hopes of a generation are fucked. Because of you. Fucked by a shockwave file. Cheap. Shoddy. You.

My apologies, Mordant - it is a fairly cheap joke, but one which seemed to fit the thread, being fairly obvious.

I have set up a trust fund for the jelly-like creature's eventual recovery and re-admission into the realms of the enlightened and pleasantly serene. I trust the Vibratrarium isn't too difficult to replace.

Sorry.

Stoatie, I see what you mean. I guess most of them are jokes (I can't be arsed to view them all). But of course, some might contain genuine emotions, in which case I ask myself who filmed them, and did they know? If all participants filmed their own clips and "sent it in" to the site themselves, I guess it's either "fun" (i.e. mass joke) or "therapy" for them (like Jerry Springer's supposed to be).

But I've got to admit, I feel the potential for, and smell more than a whiff of "happy-slapping" about that site. i.e. make someone cry, film it, label it with something banal, then sit back and get some perverse sense of schadenfreude out of it. I wonder exactly what the joke is and how many people are in on it? But then again, I'm tired and unable to kip, so maybe I'm thinking about this site a little too intently? Hmmm.... Ignore me; I do.

Fantastic!

And there was me thinking the lack of demand would lead to me never seeing my dreamed-of veggie black pudding substitute...

Larry Carlson's shit is awesome. I've met him a few times and he's a genuinely nice cat and consumate weirdo. He was supposed to give me a DVD of some of his video art, but as we were both quite stoned at the time I'm not surprised I never got it. I do have the album he made with Pixel Velez, "Virtual Om"; it's fab to zone out to. I've found that pulling up his site at a party creates clusters of staring, gently drooling people.

I think it's the sex+animals stuff being so, well, basic that the industry/science speak seems all the more stilted, artificial, obvious and weird. And that makes it funny.
