No ...
call him WALKEN the dog! After Christopher of that ilk.

Then he'll be the coolest dog ever.

HNNNNNGKGKG!!!

No, you have to name one of those little bug-eyed dogs after Christopher Walken. It's only proper.

and he has to be able to fit your daddy's watch up his ass...

.. and dance!

(of course, not simultaneously. though wouldn't that be something)

Call him Deefer, then he'll be Deefer Dog.

(Also, if you get a cat down the line you can call that Seefer.)

For some reason, the first name that came to mind when I read the thread title was 'Context.' So um, you would basically be naming him after a cosmic ray that passed through the neuron in my brain at that instant that holds the word 'Context.' Which is kind of cool.

Barrington is good. Barrence is good too. What about Dr. Jeremy Parsons?

Spaniel
13:23 / 16.05.05
Barrence is indeed great.

Spaniel
13:24 / 16.05.05
As is Doctor Jeremy Parsons, but only if you use the full name.

A friend of mine had a cat called Martin Jarvis. He also had another, which he'd adopted, called Don't Make Yourself Too Comfortable.

Excellent names.

My friend had a dog called Brodine Bathsheba.

My parents have 2 rams called Jose (Ho-zay) and Bugle, which I rather like. They have a policy of not naming stuff that is going to get eaten, though they decided to keep a pig that was originally going to be, well, not kept. She has therefore kept her number and is known as Seven of Nine, although my parents don't even know of the existence of Star Trek Voyager.

My first dog's name was Jim.

I think you should call this one grant.

After me.

After viewing the pic the first thing that sprang to mind was the children's cartoon series 'D'Artagnan and the Three Muskahounds'. So I suggest Porthos.

No one's on board with Russell Jones, eh? Little Baby Jesus? Osiris? ODB? Anyone? Anyone? Awwww, fergeddit.

Tryphena Absent
15:35 / 16.05.05
Yes but surely he had so many names because Russell rhymes with brussell and no one likes sprouts.

ibis the being
15:41 / 16.05.05
Speak for yourself woman, I love brussells sprouts. With butter.

HCE

Barbara.

Spaniel
17:34 / 16.05.05
Is another good name. Especially for a boy.

Char Aina
17:59 / 16.05.05
if i had a dog i might name him diomedes.
faithful and fearless, its a name to live up to.

plus it could be shortened to dio, if being the namesake of one who made a god bleed isnt a nails enough legacy.

Oh shit! You should name it ODB!

Get another one and name it Ghost-face killa...

Christ on a cracker.

Shrug

No name it after a poster, that way you can cause confusion with posts like lessay (and since he did suggest it himself) "Grant ate all my shoes again" and "Grant kept me awake all night howling in the basement" or "Grant peed on the carpet so I shoved his nose in it". (sorry grant)

Triplets
19:47 / 16.05.05
Old Doggy Bastard!

Shrug
19:48 / 16.05.05
Sounds too much like Old Dodgy Bastard, which could cause confusion if shouted in your local park.

ibis the being
20:39 / 16.05.05
"Old Dodgy Bastard! Quit humping your friends right this minute!"

Shrug
20:41 / 16.05.05
-"Is your puppy safe around children"
-"Oh yes Old Dodgy Bastard just loves kids"

whatever name you choose, you'll still need to train the little blighter.

you'll be needing a secret code word so the dog defends you when nasty people come to the door...

... i always liked best 'look mummy, a puppy'

grrrrrrrrrr

Well, I like little kids, so maybe I'll use something like, "Ooh, is he a purebred?" or "You know I used to have a cocker spaniel...."

or, 'does it bite?'

Astrojax 69, 'Syndrome' is wrong and bad. Syndrome is not really evil, he's just sad because Mr Incredible won't let him be his sidekick.

And I'm not even going there with the other interpretation.

The best dog names I ever heard were really sensible people names. I have a friend who named her dogs 'Dave' and 'Steve'. And the other day we heard one in the park called 'Simon.' Which just rocks.

I've just read that back and Dave is so cool.

Oh, please call it Dave.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

There's a woman who lives around this area somewhere who has a dog called Dave. Apparently he's her husband's dog, and she finds it highly embarrassing. The first time I met them I had to point out that it was, in fact, the coolest dog name ever, even though there was somebody ELSE a few years back round here whose dog was also called Dave.

William Sack
10:36 / 17.05.05
Yes, our next-door-neighbours have a cat called Dave too.

Ibis, I actually think that Russell is a great name. Even better would be Ruthell (as though you're saying Russell but with a lisp.) Your pup is gorgeous by the way. My sister has a cocker and it's a lovely little dog. They can get all sorts of crap in their ears though, so you have to be careful with grooming.

Oh, please call it Dave.

The name Dave did come up in discussion (which probably points to its popularity as a pet name), but one of our friends is named Dave. And though he's, you know, a friend - he's not exactly a desirable pet namesake. What with the anger management issues.

Your pup is gorgeous by the way. My sister has a cocker and it's a lovely little dog. They can get all sorts of crap in their ears though, so you have to be careful with grooming.

Aw, thanks. He is awfully cute. I can't wait to get him home. Yeah, I know about the ears... I've had so much trouble with my own ears (oddly enough) that I think we'll be a well-matched, though prematurely deaf, pair. I actually look forward to grooming and fussing, which probably means I chose the right breed of dog.
