Not one of these, please.

----

There was a pirate queen named Charlotte Badger?

How can you resist?

how about altering that to Malarky?

Not if Stoatie wants to be reminded of Jamie Oliver on a daily basis.

Tho, if we're going Pink Dots how about Milky Way, or just Milky?

I still want a dog named THOR.

Not if Stoatie wants to be reminded of Jamie Oliver on a daily basis.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone (though I have no idea - thankfully I'm certain - of the connection between J. Oliver and Malarky).

Tho, if we're going Pink Dots how about Milky Way, or just Milky?

That brings horrible memories of The Fast Show to mind, an I'm sure even worse to Stoatie's.

I still want a dog named THOR.

Jon Mikl Thor's character in Edge Of Hell was called Triton - how about that, Stoat? It's also a moon of Neptune and of course a novel by Samuel R. Delaney. Which leads us neatly to Dhalgren.

Stoatie must have a piratical dog!

All dogs are pirates. That being said, I'm quite fond of "Copplepot". You could never name a kitten that, but I think it might work for a puppy.

Tango-Mango, did you mean The Mary Whitehouse Experience's "Milky, milky man"? Just wonderin'.

Yes, that's the fella, pw; I forgot he was from the MWE. Apologies to The Fast Show, which never did quite exhibit the level of horror which was David Baddiel. I would still hate to have the milky-milky man brought to mind every time I heard the Stoatie-hound called by name though..

Agreed.

So, Stoatie, any closer to a name yet? Looking forward to seeing some photos.

Thinking along metal lines again... how about (Countess) Bathory?

Or from the Industrial camp - Salamandrina?

Go Goth - go for Lucretia?

Punky(ish) - M(is)s Creosote?

And what of Diamanda? Eh?

"STELLA!!!!!" would be fun to shout in the park... unfortunately it would remind me of horrid beer.

I'm liking Scribble at the moment, actually...

(Sorry not to respond earlier- we've been having a bit of a sleep because it's been quite an exciting day for both of us!)

Yeah! New puppy! I am completely dog-obsessed, will try to reign it in if possible.

It's so hard to name other people's pets without a pic. Where's the photo dammit?

My camera's knackered, and I can't get my phone to talk to my pc!

Any Stokey 'lithers with cameras, come round and take piccies!

Otherwise my ex is coming over on Saturday to meet the puppy, and I've made her promise to bring her camera, so at the weekend there will be pictures, if not before.

I've established her provenance, too- collie/lab cross, with a bit of Hungarian puli in there.

Take a pic with yr phone, text it to me and I'll get it online in a jiffy...

21:31 / 17.01.06
OOh, careful with the collie crosses, they're clever. There's nothing more dangerous than a clever dog. Except a dog that can throw razor blades from a waggy tail, perhaps.
And bird flu.
Anyway, it's even more risky when when they worm their way in with that lab charm.
Still, they wuffle beautifully. And snork.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
21:36 / 17.01.06
Yep. Stoatie will remember well the cleverness of both his beloved Biscuits, and our own Rosie; both Collie crosses, and while the former was lovely and chilled out (except with big sticks), the latter was a little bit loopy. But she could walk on her back legs and other fun tricks.

So is the new puppy officially a Hackney Black Dog, Stoatie?

Take a pic with yr phone

Or you could try this

Or summat simlier.

I guess she is!

(Just discovered that she likes being swung around in the bag, too. Hope she doesn't keep demanding that once she gets big. I'll have to buy a giant robot just to cope with dog-swinging duties).

Tryphena Absent
22:36 / 17.01.06
Call her Godfrey after Godfrey from Dad's Army. I'll never forget the episode where Mainwaring was all nasty because he was a conscientious objector and then discovered that he had a medal for being a medical guy.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
22:39 / 17.01.06
That would be cool, were it not for the fact that there was a really creepy guy at our work a while back who one of my friends dubbed Godfrey, after the selfsame Dad's Army guy.

Tryphena Absent

Godfrey wasn't creepy, he was like a fluffy rabbit! I am appalled.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Hey, I didn't say creepy guy was like Godfrey.

I think I described him as like a "noncey Dennis Nielsen". Not to his face, mind. I feared him.

I'm watching Rock'n'Roll High School.

Sheena (as in "...is a punk rocker") seems fairly good, too.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
01:24 / 18.01.06
Actually, that's it. Watching Rock'n'Roll High School has provided me with an epiphany of sorts.

She's Sheena.

And Sheena IS a punk rocker, make no mistake.

Ariadne

Sheena is good, I approve. Now I'm just dying to see a photo!

07:03 / 18.01.06
Sheena noooooo. Do you really want the soundtrack to your poor pups life to be:

My baby takes the morning train,
he works from 9 'to 5 and then,
he takes another home again
to find me waiting for him

Sheena Easton, that's right baby

Lilly Nowhere Late
07:04 / 18.01.06
Not to be snide, but I do wish your epiphanies didn't wake up my household at 4am. Relevant tho they may be...
Idea: Bring Sheena to my shop today, I'll take needed photo. Sachabelle will be there but I can meet you on the sidewalk(pavement) if you're worried about vaccine quarantine.
Like Ibis, I'm trying to reign in my dog obsessiveness; do forgive me if I stray. Ordered you a book which is important and it's supposed to arrive today.

Not to be snide, but I do wish your epiphanies didn't wake up my household at 4am.

Thinking about it now that I'm awake, part of the cause of that was having a silly ringtone attached to Stoatie's number which goes off even if it's only a text message instead of a nice quiet beep (which admittedly will still go on beeping until it's answered, but probably not as irritatingly as "Jesus Christ Superstar" in polyphonic MIDI glory at 4am). So that bit's my own silly fault. Sorry, Lilly N & Sacha-B.

Anyway, back to the dog-naming.

I've already suggested to Stoatie that he actually call her Xena [is a] Punk Warrior Queen (or Princess?) so as to avoid the whole Sheena Easton association, at least in writing. It sounds similar enough, but there's no confusion with that gottverdammt 9-5 morning commuting malarky.

So, will there be a puppy-naming ceremony? Something to wet the little dog's head?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
08:33 / 18.01.06
Oops... apologies. I always turn off my phone when I go to bed, and I forget other people don't... I thought it'd be waiting for you in the morning.

Xena's also good, and has a Bruce Campbell connection too- but anyone for whom "9 to 5" is higher up in their inner pop-culture pool than the Ramones really needs to get that sorted out.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
08:44 / 18.01.06
There's also Ramona, of course, as a late suggestion.

[I always wondered if Ms. Easton's real name was Sheena, or if she adopted it in honour/exploitation of the Ramones. It seems it is her actual name.]

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
08:47 / 18.01.06
Ramona was one of the first names I thought of, actually- kind of Ramones plus Bowie's "1: Outside".

Mon Oncle Ignatius
08:51 / 18.01.06
And of course the Ramones song "Sweet Little Ramona".

I have the camera with me for this evening by the way, but let me know if you take (Sh/X)e(e)na* to see LN first.

Or something Barbelith related? Scandal. Short version of her full name: Ass Candle.

Just took her up to see Lilly and Anna at work- they got a couple of piccies. And she had a great time playing with Sasha, too.

I have a picture in my phone! Very cute indeed... but as I'm at work, getting the pic online might be tricky. I'll see if there just happens to be a Bluetooth adapter lying around anywhere.
