Do you really believe that's how it is, or are you describing your aspirations for the thread?
Not sure. I just like the idea of making new narratives out of old. I remember being shown a book once where the "author" had taken an old Victorian novel (I think) and scribbled, doodled, blanked out whole paragraphs (etc), and left certain words which formed a new story. It was a good idea, I thought.
Plus, it's all just harmless fun, no?
There are many threads on Barbelith which I don't "get" or which don't interest me, and I just ignore them. I guess there has to be a certain level of quality control on Barbelith to keep standards high, but we can all take ourselves a little seriously at times (not that I'm accusing anyone in particular of this in respect of this example).
For example, I started this thread last night and I bet the "silliness" of it drives many of you "up the wall", but there's more behind its conception that a infantile brain (I promise).
