Wow!

*stumbles forward waving awkwardly*

Such a welcome! And cookies too - bet they've all gone, though.

*thinks*

Very excited to be member 5001. A bit about me? I'm nearly a geek, was once a designer, have recently written and edited some books, and currently spend too much time thinking about nanotechnology.

Enough to start with... time to go off and have a further root around the laboratory...

Hmmm. Introducing myself? Well, ok. Ill try.

I live in Finland. I have a boring work.
Im into history, books, comics and music(mostly metal, but other styles allso).
And...And...And...
Darn. It so hard to come up with anything without any questions... Ask and thou shall be answered.

And if you havent noticed. Im haunted by faulty spelling programs in my head. Im trying to get them updated, but it might take a while. Please, remain calm. There is no threat to the public.

And now ill sit down and wait for Polka to come and drink bubbly stuff with me.

Um, yes. Hi.

I am currently pretending to be a Frog. And I live in Auswegia, which is a good place to live if you're amphibiously inclined.

I've been waiting for the invite email for a ver. long time, and probably harrassing Olulabelle too much. But you never can tell. I planned to post many things as soon as I had the power, but now I'm all shy and nervous and foot-scuffing self-editing etc.

I'm at university, studying everything, but mostly words. Words and brains.

I like to talk, ramble and rant, tell stories and make people laugh, but I've given it up for rent, at the moment. Occasionally I drink and dance and listen to music, but mostly I just drink and listen to music, as dancing is hard when you're a frog (green tree frog, if you're wondering).

I'd like to think I'm not a great big jerk, but it's getting harder to be sure.

I'm here for the majicks and the Science! and the... actually, most of the forums are why I applied.

It's past my bedtime and I've got uni work to do, so I'm going to be quiet now.

I stepped out of town for a few days and found this great suprise in my email. I apologize for not getting on the ball sooner with the sign-in and intro. I am a student in Pittsburgh, PA at Carnegie Mellon. I study writing, as many of the other new registrants seem to. In addition, I am a freelance editor of a journal, as well as academic papers, which helps with bills. I study theology and linguistics for fun. I drink beer and bourbon, smoke camel filters, and have a strange fetish for humidity. In the end, I am simply looking forward to participation in some of the amazing conversations that I have observed going on here. I look forward to getting to know all of you better in the near future.

Ahhh, lovely Pittsburgh. I spent six months at school there as a nipper, y'know. Does the majestic Monangewhatsit still meet the Aleethingy and the Susquwhooshe? Oh, give me tales of that far-off lost world.

Oh, bless you, cube.

It's the Monongahela meeting the Allegheny to form the Ohio.

Many a summer day as a little swanketeer I spent lazing down the Allegheny in a canoe, watching the deer frolic across the shallows.

A question for I Am Not Shaun Macartney- are you in fact Shaun Macartney? Like, that one?
Hellooo!

I am not Shaun Macartney

Hello, Antichrist Superstoat. I like your secret codename. However it is bad form I think to ask me about my true identity as it might put my family in real jeopardy. I am not Shaun Macartney has many enemies, most notably that funny little obsessive compulsive guy with the stained trousers whose copy of the Star Trek Weekly magazine I used to fuck with.

If you're thinking of the same guy as me, I think he lives nearby. I keep seeing him and feeling incredibly awkward, and seeing him staring at me. I can't remember WHAT exactly I used to do to the poor little bugger, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't nice. I f33r him.

Pittsburgh is still as you might remember it...minus the intense pollution and thick layer of filth muck that used to cover everything in the town. Hell with the lid off no more, the city is sunny with trees and grass and those types of things. And Yuengling, thank god for Yuengling.

Hello,

I suppose this is my introduction. My name is Jacob, I am 19, and I am from Washington, DC, though right now I am attending school in Bloomington, IN. I am studying writing and literature. I am pretty interested in literature/music/art, etc., especially kind of experimental and avant stuff. I am also pretty interested in culture terrorism, that meaning, I suppose, the integration and subversion of the existing social and cultural structure as a means of activism and resistance. I play in a couple of bands, and hopefully will have more time this summer to dedicate to that. Some people that I am pretty fond of are Thomas Pynchon, Virginia Woolf, Jeff Noon, Michael Gira, Nick Cave, Greg Dulli, Leonard Cohen, Wong-Kar Wai, Grant Morrison, and lots of others too.

I always have a hard time writing these sort of things, so I think that I will stop here. I think I would much rather get to know people and have people get to know me through conversation and discussion than trying to spit up summaries of ourselves, so yeah. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
