cheney was in my town yesterday- he met with a select few republican business leaders, though it was being called a 'town hall' meeting. welcome to the town hall of the future.

i was also disappointed that thought the meeting was at the local harley-davidson dealership, he didnt ride a harley.

Good evening. Can't promise I'll be here for long, but while I'm here you explain what the hell could be described as a burlesque activity in Stoke-Newington...

evening, grey area

the (rather) plain answer is cabaret on church street. flexed my google-fu but can't find a link to post.

Gotcha. Cabaret is indeed burlesque (and am I alone in thinking that the word 'burlesque' doesn't get nearly as much airtime as it should these days?). So did you get called in for some kind of emergency, or did you just get stuck?

stuck, stuck, stuck...

same shifts saturday and sunday too.

yeah burlesque, i aught to add that to barbelilith's "words of wonder" thread. so grey area what you up to?

Dialled in from home to check e-mails and see how the E-bay auctions are going. Stone-broke until the end of the month so I need these things to go well. Right now, it seems I will earn the princely sum of...one pound. Well shit.

I'm here, counting down the hours till my week off- going to see Bubba-ho-Tep today, too... should be cool.

Baz Auckland
23:28 / 10.10.04
Oh, it is... not a classic, but worth a watch of course. Sunday's the last day of the week for you then?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Yup... Monday morning is where it's at!

23:30 / 10.10.04
Any other plans for the week?

(and hey, it's a bit early (but I'm already packing as we type), but would you happen to have room on your couch around the second week of January?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
23:32 / 10.10.04
I don't see why not! (Well, except we don't have a couch, but some kind of mattress could probably be arranged!)

How about a blow-up mattress? Those things rock! Although they do sometimes deflate during the night and you wake up balanced on your elbow.

Hello everyone, by the way!

I am counting the days until Berlin.... (sigh). The Tinsmith in the Pioneer Village where I work is a crazy 75 year old cockney from Bethnal Green. I was able to proudly say that I lived in Hackney for half a year. His reply was "Did ya? Waa. Why the 'ell were 'ou in 'ackney then?"

Baz Auckland
23:37 / 10.10.04
...blow-up anything is fun really.. chairs, beds, pets... (and hello! How are you?)

I quite like sleeping on floors oddly enough. I prefer really uncomfortable beds as I'm just used to them. If presented with a barely nice matress, I go into shock and end up sleeping for days...

He was right to say that ... except Hackney's in North London. Or more to the point, it occupies a strange netherworld betwixt North and East London. N Londoners say it's in the East, E Londoners say it's in the North.

Hackney's like an illegitimate child that nobody really wants. Aww.

Doncha go dissin my hood, mothjerfuckeer. (Huge amount of typos in that last word, but it looks nicely Dutch, or at the very least Afrikaans, so I'm leaving it.)

Ooh bareful Baz, I was off camping a lot recently and slept on hard ground and I think it contributed to me pulling a back muscle couple of weeks ago.

The upside was that I spent at work completely stoned on painkillers and finally understood why people get addicted to them. But I'm not addicted myself ICANHANDLEIT!!!

Brigade du jour
23:41 / 10.10.04
Stoatie, I thought you lived in Stoke Newington? Make your bleedin' mind up, mate!

Anyway, you can always take the piss out of me cos I used to live in Barking, if you like.

Baz Auckland
23:41 / 10.10.04
I still have a tourist "Discover Hackney!" map... everyone seems to find it quite amusing... Poor borough...

Where do you live Baz?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Stoke Newington's part of Hackney, innit! That's why Hackney Council want to kill my car. Bastards.

Baz Auckland
23:43 / 10.10.04
Stoke Newington's a part of Hackney I think... I remember getting my wisdom teeth out, and since I had a problem swallowing pills back then, the dentist gave me a bottle of liquid Tylenol 3....

...oooh that was nice. Painkillers w/codine in a lovely convenient container. Although I did tend to burn myself a lot a work over the next few days...

Baz Auckland
23:45 / 10.10.04
I'm in Toronto for about 90 more days... then Berlin! Ha! My father told me last week that "First you have to take Manhattan"...(sigh)

Why's Hackney trying to kill the Bagbuss-mobile?

Brigade du jour
23:45 / 10.10.04
Stoke Newington's part of Hackney? Even that nice church where I went for a wee through the railings on the way to your 30th birthday party?

Actually I probably shouldn't have admitted to that, I may get in trouble with God.

No tax disc... not that I have to pay tax, anyway, what with it being tax-exempt and all... I just have to get round to taking it for an MOT.

Baz Auckland
23:47 / 10.10.04
Tsk, tsk... where about in London are you?

Oh never mind
