1912 Farnsworth-Miller Ruleset. No Victoria shunts, please.

Well, in honour of the Olympic connection, I'll move us right along to Kensington (Olympia).

Methinks a little trundle round to,

Sloane Square

I'm sure that I don't need to remind you all that the next player in nid (or semi-) will be open to a devastating en passant shunting unless we intersect Jubilee next move. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Our Lady Has Left the Building

How dare you start this without telling me?

South Kensington. Inna ear. Hard.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
13:18 / 11.09.04
Never one to resist an Empire Strikes Back acronym, I'm taking a chuffer (which I believe is still allowed in Buxton's), and calling

Harrow On The Hill.

Our Lady Has Left the Building
14:24 / 11.09.04
Ouch. Right, Chalk Farm!

Ha, you're not typing, you're not typing, you're not typing any more....

I believe Rayners Lane means that I'm not only typing, but also singing along. With a 500-strong gospel chorus on backing vocals. Anna juggler onna bicycle!

But my mooching on over to Wood Green means that I have a gospel chorus, juggler on bike, and several highly trained and lavishly decorated elephants.

Lookee here, were playing Buxton, not the Cholmondeley Wandering Variety Circus rulset.

Bayswater will put played to your song and dancery.

Sheesh, just for all of that I'm invoking rule 4 and on top of that I'm taking this train out of service. Now will you all kindly change platform and wait for the next available service.

And get rid of that frigging elephant.

Benny the Ball

I have no idea what all this means, but it reads like a chapter from 'The Man Who Was Thursday'.

Ummmm, Finchley Central?

Our Lady Has Left the Building

Ooooh, fresh bloooooood...

Chalfont and Latimers

Jack Vincennes
19:19 / 13.09.04
I wondered whether it was all a bluff, Our Lady, and if Benny does in fact have awesome Mornington Crescent skills which are only to be unleashed at a later date. Only time will tell.

Seven Sisters.

Lady, Vince WTF?

Bayswater to Finchley Central with no elephant is not the move of a rank amateur. Can't you spot a reverse line slip when you see one?

Nice move Benny, especially under rule 4.

Looks like it's time to up the game a little.

Grange Hill or le Hill Grange as they call it in Paris.

Bromley-By-Bow.

And there is no reason to make Mordant get rid of the elephant. I have examined it, and it falls well within the specifications, animal, transportation by rail for the use of, that are listed in Appendix 7. A fine specimen of Elephas Subterrae it is too. Mighty fine.

pointless and uncalled for
10:35 / 14.09.04
Buxton's Basic clause three of the almalgamated addenda clearly states that no animal exceeding the average weight by mean of an Edam shall be used either as an adjunct to travel, a means of sustenance or as boastful decoration.

She should have gone for either the ring-tailed lemur or the meercats. They're on BOGOF as as well.

Anyhow, I shall see your Bromley-by-Bow and raise a Canada Water.

Wild finagles are now in play and there are reports of wandering catfish on the Northern Line. I'm holding Lady Flowers personally responsible for that one.

Grey Area
10:57 / 14.09.04
Damn these wild finagles! They leave me no choice but to land on Parsons Green (parsons...finagles...oo-err missus!).

Can't we just let her keep the elephant? Make an exception? The Big Bumper Book of Boy's Own Rules for Everything does allow for exceptions to be made if enough people go 'rhubarb rhubarb' in support. It's such a cute elephant.

The Yellowhammer Compendium (1959 edition) states quite clearly that elephants are permitted provided that the elephant remains tranquil and is sufficiently well-decorated.

Walthamstow, and be damned to your elephant-bashing.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
09:07 / 17.09.04
In solidarity with Mordant and her pleasant pachyderm, I shall forgo the killer move I was about to play and execute a left slow-hander to Ealing Broadway.

09:45 / 17.09.04
Fair enough, keep the elephant if you must but it better not crap in the doorway. Now if you want me I'll be in the next carriage along.

Now in recognition of Talk Like A Pirate Day I'm going to steer the munificent menagerie to Gallions Reach.

BTW, if we ever play Cholmondeley Wandering Variety Circus ruleset I'm going to show you what gaudy animal antics is all about.

Happily, omitting option 2 allows me the leapfrog (initial vowels) from Uxbridge to Ickenham.

I hate to do this, but the current nasty turn the game seems to be taking leaves me no option-

Victoria

Believe me, if so much weren't at stake I'd have gladly passed this one.

Grey Area
08:02 / 20.09.04
Nasty turns? I'll give you a nasty turn...I did some research, and it turns out the ruleset allows for trans-national linkage using Lubokov's Dimensional Drift Theory. So, in a drastic turn of events, I take you to Berlin's Dingelstädter Straße. Get yourself out of that one.

(A map of the Berlin tram system can be found here)

GA, you discovered my cunning ploy just one move too soon. Alas it shall come as no suprise when I enter a move of Islington on the Toronto subway.

Almost enough to create a rift in the space time continuum.

Grey Area
15:02 / 20.09.04
You nearly had me cornered for a second there, but I see way out, landing us on the platform of Ochiai-Minami-Nagasaki, a tiny station on Tokyo's metro network. Watch out for the guys in the white gloves, they shove back.

Benny the Ball
17:09 / 20.09.04
Ha ha, I see the trap you're setting. You expect a cry of Zoo station, or worse still, Gare du Nord!

Eat my Namestri Miru (only three moves away from a return to Turnham Green)

Jack Vincennes
17:13 / 20.09.04
Hmmmn. In that case, I'll have to respond with Partick on the Glasgow Underground. Option 3 has some very stern words about overabundance of syllables in station names.

Grey Area
10:04 / 21.09.04
Few syllables? In that case I power up my Lubokov Generator and flip us back to Freiheit station in Berlin. Out of deference to the feelings of Mordant's elephant (who's taking this dimensional flipping quite well I have to say) I will avoid Berlin Zoo for now.

...has anyone ever thought of doing a Jenny Everywhere story about a transdimensional game of Mornington Crescent?

pointless and uncalled for
10:54 / 21.09.04
Not sure about that one but it might prove most interesting.

However, as we now have an pachyderm that has travelled across three continents, it seems we are now resident at Elephant and Castle

Can someone explain why the transdimensional hyperdrive has smoek coming out of it's ears.

I'd approach that thingy with caution if I were you.

Grey Area
13:07 / 21.09.04
Caution? Nonsense! A good kick is all that thing needs to sort it out...(Kicks smoking device. Once the smoke and sparks of the resulting explosion clear, it appears that the entire game party, including elephant, has been moved to platform 2 of Shirokanedai).

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Oh, so it's like that, is it?

Well, a quick fictional spin will bring us chuffing neatly into Perdido Street Station.

Ooo, look...a Heisenberg Singularity. Just to the left of that wastebin. Let's jump in and see where it leads.

...ah. Hornchurch. Not the most exotic of destinations, but at least we're back in 'ol Blighty.
