uh who didn't cry at that part dude?

anyways, my favorite part of it all i think was that black bug room part "hell-wello scott, everyone has a black bug room, this is yours" and and 123 was awesome, it had the line "destroy all mutants" and "Esme don't let this experience put you off boys." or something like that right. Wolverine killing Jean Grey and being incinerated by the sun. when Cassandra gets trapped in Stuff and has to learn everything all over. Quentin giving Professor X and bump on the noggin' with a baseball bat. and also I really liked Assault on Weapon Plus a lot cause I like Bachalo.

And then all that stuff about how "carrots are not fruit...."

Fucking amazing.

The best part of the black bug room is that the bugs have top hats and capes hanging up on the wall... Fucking genius.

"Hell-wello." I love that, now. I found myself saying that a lot and not remembering where it was from. And then it hit me.

Still have yet to work "boombastic" into conversation, though.

"WHAT?"
"BLUE BALLS!!"

Alright, I just made that up, but I consider it to be apocryphical.

Che Guevara? Really?

Well, yeah. I paused for a mo' there, but I think the iconography on T's was what the poster meant.

Best part:

"Why did I have to fall in love with Scott bloody Summers?"

That line actually blew me away. Just when I'd sort of gotten used to the newer concepts of Grant's run he brings out the old soap opera and proves he can master even that genre better than anyone else.

All the above, plus Siryn's fantasy about Jamie Madrox, the Multiple Man, having sex with himself. Genius.

"Marie says I should let go now. Oops."
Let's face it, the whole fucking run was just the kind of comic you want to roll around naked in, Demi Moore style. This was a dream project for Grant, with his running themes of human evolution and underground organisations. We should all declare ourselves slaves to Grant Morrison's cock, for giving us our monthly eyegasm for so long.

Igor never once gave me an eyegasm. He was a bad man.

"Marie"?

The best thing about New X-Men: Morrison managed to make Scott Summers an interesting and likeable character.

Flyboy wins.

From "You can stop doing that now, Wolverine" through to Jean's long goodbye to her best friend, this was a story about how cool Cyclops is. Heck, Jean saves the world by making Scott happy enough to stay with the X-Men.

(Horrible paraphrases)

Scott: Don't worry. I've survived more aircraft crashes than any other mutant.

Domino: Opinion: Scott Summers has a king-sized bug up his ass.
Logan: ... You can trust that king-sized bug with your life.

Xavier: Everyone remember your formations...
Scott: No formations! Everyone on instinct!

Emma: This whole area is about to become the centre of a new black hole. Why is no-one panicking?
Hank: Don't worry. Scott's very good with the depressed.

Jean: Scott, you always were my favourite super-hero.

Mine too, coincidentally.

You know what? that's true.

There isn't any part of this story that doesn't echo around and stop at Scott. It all culminates in his decision to fight back when Magneto takes Manhttan, then take the reigns at the school after everyhting he believes in and counts on vanishes.

Scott grows up a LOT.

i personally would've loved a 'x-sentinels' limited series penned by senor Morrison. the sheer madness of the bizarre weapon plus synthetic humanoid/sentinels who believe they are humanity's last hope. sort of like a cross between the World from assault on weapon plus and the status quorum from the filth. total silver/sci fi age madness faster than a cum shot

Anyone else notice that running theme of the romance between the Vanishing Redhead and the Superhero in G.M.'s work? I mean, Cliff/Jane, Gideon/Robin, Scott/Jean...
Is Porgie's Signifigant Other, she of the deleted last name, a redhead, by any chance?

The Natural Way
10:51 / 09.06.04
No.

But the guy clearly fancies redheads. And I'm sure there's some kind of cosmic significance (involving 5D squids) in there too.

I thought the bit outside the tunnel where Sam says, "Thank you, sir, but I think I could do more" was really quite good.

Indeed, Grant's wifey is not a redhead.

She does, however, look a lot like Emma Frost...

Bah! I can't find my Riot at Xavier's tpb. But the exchange that cracked me up was something like:

Cuckoo #1: That horrible Quentin Quire is going to get inside our brains...

Cuckoo #2: And he's going to make us take all our clothes OFF!

That and "Destroy! DESTROY!! ....destroy?" and, of course, Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Grant did say that he'd had a reltionship with a redhead, around the start of Invisibles 2.1 IIRC but it went very very badly.

Esme.
"Perheps we'll met again in the new world that's coming, but I doubt it"

And her last dialog with Emma Frost:

"-Oh, Esme... you turned into such a wonderful little femme fatale in the end, didn't you? I'm ever so proud of all my girls. But you...
-Hmm. Hmmnuthnn. Nuthing like you...
-I think i'm most especially proud of you, dear"

Best bit was the way I started shaking after reading the first tpb. That arc and the "danger rooms" reveal had balls of steel. I was fucking blown away. I cared about comics again. Was Beast dead? Was Xavier dead? That and the big fucking apocolypse panel of the mega sentinels. GUMPH.

Everything Tito said annoyed me to tears, mind. What a shitty character.

The best thing about New X Men was the introduction of a fresh and original cast character with a unique yet believable persona, whose demise was incorporated into the plot so that subsequent hacks couldn't cheapen the original idea by reinventing Xo... DOH!

Okay, then the best thing about New X Men must have been its satire on the eternal plot cycle of superheroes comics, told in a way that both reinvigorated and parodied the perpetually resurrected villian while at the same time bringing the circle to a natural ending so that we would never again witness the return of Magn... DOH! DOH!

Well alright, then the best thing about New X Men MUST have been that it drew together all of the disparate versions of Pheonix into a coherent storyline which explained all the previous loose ends and wrapped them into a satisfactory ending with the definitive death of Je... ...no, I daren't even say it, it would only give them bad ideas.

That it's inspired one hundred posts on what the best thing about it was.

That and Scott and Xorn's plot in 'Imperial':

Xorn (Re: Araki): Guru?
Scott: Well, he's helped me through some tough times.

Beast: Scott? You do know I was about to utter the fateful words 'We need a miracle', don't you?

And, of course:

Xorn: He is not mad! Scott is my friend! WHAT IS THIS WORLD OF LIARS?!

Great Quotes: (Damn this series is filled with them, but I'm paraphrasing...)

Beast: "I'm sorry Officer, but all humans look the same to me."

Emma: "Wolverine and Domino are making animal noises in the next room"

Magneto: "I have no use for human interferences, human laws, or human beings!"

Quentin: ...You total see-through moron"

Omega Gang member: "...I'm the inhuman torch."

Wolverine (after Sentinels kill Piggy): *sniff* *sniff* hn...Bacon?

Emma: "I am very cross, Sublime. Very cross indeed! Look at me! I look like a bloody heavyweight boxer!"

Xorneto: "...and life goes on."

Jean: "Don't lie to a telepath, Scott. It's insulting."

Emma: "Jean just got inside my brain and knocked some things down, that's all."

One-eyed kid from special class: Hyuk! Somebody ruined the moment. Who cut one?

Jean (after manifesting the Phoenix): What? What's everyone looking at?

Wolverine (to Angel after killing U-Men): Sorry, darling. I just went red there a second.

But I must say the series two biggest accomplishments was making Scott cool and exposing Magneto for the hypocrite I always felt he was.

Oh...and side note:
Anyone else notice that during the silent issue when Emma is attacked by letters, the word "Penis" is stuck around her mouth. Check it out.

I got a question to everyone, what was your favorite story in the run. Me personally it was Riot at Xaviers!

Grant didn't write a silent issue of X-Men, did he? Did he do a "Nuff Said" issue? I forget.

oh, fuck, of course -- I remember now. The one where they go into Jean's mind, right? Quitely drew the Nuff Said issue and kicked major ass on it, as I recall.

Has it really been THAT long that I'm forgetting things from early on in Grant's run? Getting old...
