Bah, get posting, I say.

In light of recent events you would have thought people might at least attempt to get involved.

I am so lost. I was innocently searching on ebay for a Momma Cass-shaped candle (don't ask why), and the next thing I know . . . you get the picture.

Hello/salaam/shalom/aaaalreeeet...

I've been lurking for about two years but haven't registered through laziness. Now that I'm a member of course, I'm going to get even less work done, but I've really enjoyed & learned from some of the stuff I've read here, so I hope participating will be as good.

Re: Getting involved.

Still learning. Talk too much here, get too little done there. Talk enough in other places, anyway.

Later.

I joined a couple of months back, thanks to knowing a particular Barbeloid IRL. Posted a few times- enjoyed the ensuing conversations muchly. Then I disappeared- stopped lurking as well as posting. It just felt too good. I have a busy life and a job I love and (let's face it) a tendency to throw myself a little too much into things. I suddenly saw a future of sitting hunched over my laptop 24 hours a day Barbelithing. I knew I'd be back... when I felt I could trust myself to not drown in the chocolate sauce of Barbelith, wonderful though that would be. There's something in what the last poster said about having to be there once you get caught up in a conversation. Maybe it's my committment-phobia rearing its head again, that bastard pops up everywhere. It's definitely not fear of ass candling. I think ass candling will save the world. Anyway, still delighted to be here, and pleased to see efforts are being made to invite more newbies.

As your first task as a new Barbelith member you must find the newbies thread....check!
Then go to posting etiquette....check! Eek! It's just email or website links???

General mucking about over I promise, please don't use the ass candles on me! But I am serious about the etiquette stuff.

Anyway this post was just to say Hi! as a new member to the underground. I'm 25 and in the london area, currently looking for a new job after realising that the childhood dream job is a complete nightmare.
I have been reading Barbelith threads for the last few months and glad to have to chance to actually write on here. And I'm looking forward to it!

Cool, it appears my months of observing your routines have paid off and I've managed to sneak in.
So greetings all. Thanks for letting me in.
I'm in my thirties live in London, work for a charity and dabble in Chaos or Eclectic magic.

I received an invitation, so to be polite I clicked on the accompanying link and it went all hazy. After a ponder, with some dubious scritching of the noggin thrown in for good measure, I determined I was somewhere in my early thirties and of the piratical persuasion. Aarrgh Matey! I was somewhat thrown at the landlocked situation of my boat (somewhere in darkest Northumberland at the first glance), and the fact that the ship's cat had just dragged in a struggling child, all grubby about the ears. Then I remembered, sighed a glad sigh, sent the urchin back to bed, and sat back with a steaming mug of chocolate ready for a good old trawl through the posts.

Oh, and hello.

er...hello.

Having looked carefully at the thread title, I take it I'm meant to reveal myself now. So I have. Look upon the glory that is me.

In brief, I'm an attempted writer/artist/musician from somewhere in the region of fair Engelonde, and found this rather lovely place via (of all things) the lego Alan Moore. Which is a sentence I never thought I'd type. I like gin, fine comics, and being tickled on the back of the neck. Been reading the boards for a bit, and tickled pink at finally being allowed to join.

I make art that looks like this, and music that sounds like this. (The latter link is to my Mperia account - it's not there because I'm spamming, merely as somewhere to store my music online. If you actually want to own any of the mp3s, then please PM me or something. And then see a doctor.)

Well, I seem positively boring to some of these new members. Art...music?! The closest I get to being creative in the slightest is short stories and the such. Very short stories.

With illustrations.

Anyway. It's a pleasure to be here after reading for close to a year. I'm in my late teens, Irish and quite fond of Science and Comics, so I'll presumeably be "hanging out" there, during my stay at Barbelith.

Oh, I wouldn't be they're just candles shaped like arses.

Ass candles and faceknives on the other hand...
Now get out there and start posting nonsense for people to shoot down like the rest of us do!

Habari gani.

I hail from the far lands of The Library, an infinite storage warehouse that has had every idea recorded within its walls. I must track down certain rare books, in the form of good cheesecake. And a donut here or there.

I do anything and everything for fun - I don't do anything that I don't see as positive for me (although that varies: I find studying the Rwandan Genocide exciting, but being forced to go to Vegas with the parental units a bit poor).

And that is me. I like magic, too, but I haven't gotten too far past Vodou for now.

Ah, um, hello.
I've been lurking for a while, but have somehow managed to finagle my way into obtaining an account.
I'm currently doing all I can to escape an accidental career as an editor of boring stuff, and sneak my way back into the warm and slightly dusty embrace of academia.
For the past couple of years I've been trying, and failing, to write my second novel, and consuming too much rum as a consolation.

I remember the days when I was one of a select number of newbies. (Last month.) We were the hallowed few. Now they're everywhere and they have better names than me and stuff.

Fort Barbelith.

New person knocks at big creaky door asking for sanctuary.
En masse Barbelith looks at each other, eyes wide.

Half of Barbelith puts on the saftey chain, the other half either run and hide or start loading their guns.

Barbelith opens creaky door a teeny bit, peers through the door at new person, holds out a hand for papers and shuts door again.

Barbelith examines papers in minute detail, confers, then in one swift movement opens door and yanks new person in by the arm.

New person falls breathlessly through the door and regails everyone with tales of the epic and perillous journey they have undertaken to get to Fort Barbelith.

Half of Barbelith listens whilst the other half surreptitiously rifles through the new person's pockets for interesting things like chocolate.

Hello there.

I feel like I'm stepping into another reality altogether. Up until now everybody on the board has seemed fictional to me - therefore I am now fictional myself. Feels like receiving an invitation to Hogwarts.

I live in London, work in the Arts (hah) and don't get out much. I'll probably be posting quite frequently as soon as I get used to the idea.

Glad to be here!

Smoothly, I heart you and will start stalking you now (in a friendly way, honest).

I feel like I'm stepping into another reality altogether

I know, I know! It's crazymad... What's that film where a load of kids get sucked into a game or something, and it's all real?... Jumamji? Yeah, it's like Jumanji!

I will go and hang my head in shame.

Jumanji was an awesome movie. The cartoon wasn't half-bad either. But it lost a lot of fun when I actually played the game and I wasn't really sucked into a jungle.

Pooky Is Just My Pornstar Name
01:03 / 19.03.05
I joined the ol'lith many moons ago. But lazy ass procastinator that I am, I didn't start posting until fairly recently. Like many other Barbelith members, I found Barbelith by way of an interest in Grant Morrison. I started reading Grant's New X-Men comic, was intrigued by the stories and the wild imagination of the author, did a search on google, and found Barbelith. It came as a pleasant surprise to find a message board populated with articulate intelligent posters, people that could discuss comics, politics, religion and anything and everything else with an open mind and with witty insight. Though I may not post a lot (it's either feast or famine with me; either I post little and/or sporadically, or I post like a spammer on speed), I do lurk a lot.

As for my fictionsuit name...it's not the most witty or original name, true, but it probably does represent my head-space at the moment. Pooky = sweet and a softie. However, that doesn't mean that I don't have a dark side. I'm generally pretty easy going, but piss me off, and I start thinking up ways in which I can cut off your jingley jangley dangley bits. I suppose if the lith allowed for avatars, mine would be a cute teddy bear, with a bouquet of flowers in one hand, and a dagger in the other . However, I must admit that I'm completely enchanted by this pic:

and if I could, would choose it for an avatar. Come on, admit it, the racoon on a flying carpet is so joycore. Plus that s/m harness gives it a sexy kinky twist too...

Er...not that I am into beastiality or anything, y'know. Just trying to be witty here. Uh, I think I'll go now...

Glad you liked the pic, guys. The image is actually the cover of a comic book, The Grimoire by Speakeasy Comics. IMO, The Grimoire is the find of the month, it's a lot of fun, very joycore, and suitable for all ages. For more on the comic and preview pages, go to: Grimoire.
