Reflect: I've read a few summeries of the final and they all seem to be the same. I agree with you, I want it to lead us off track, but I'm not very optimistic about it.

Everyone seen the latest piece of Buffy news flying around the net? Flick the Slayer?

Spoilers?

FORMER Neighbours starlet Holly Vallance is being lined up to take over the role of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The Aussie beauty is said to have been singled out by the show's US makers as the ideal replacement for Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Sarah said no to a seventh year as the unlikely teenage vampire killer.

Ratings for the once-popular TV programme have dropped recently.

But producers believe Holly has just what it takes to inject new life into the cult series, which also stars heart- throb David Boreanaz as Angel.

Stunning Holly, 19, who played Flick Scully in Neighbours, went on to pop success and had a No1 hit with Kiss, Kiss last year.

She is now looking for a new acting role.

A source said : "Holly has been approached and is interested. She would be perfect for the role - she's sexy and energetic.

"This would be a perfect way for her to break into Hollywood."

But Holly's record company WEA London Records appeared in the dark over her new job.

A spokesman said : "We are waiting to hear from the people who make Buffy.

"I do not know anything about Holly taking over."

Um, sounds interesting, but also VERY VERY suspect and circumspect. The BUFFY series is CANCELLED, over, kaput. Anything new would be a spinoff.

Keep in mind that supposedly reliable sources said David Boreanaz had been signed to star as Superman a month or so back.

But thanks for posting it - I'm always up for the rumor mill fun!

I've found out that the article if from The Daily Star (UK Tabloid) which isn't the most reliable source! But I guess anything is possible.

SMG didn't go to the wrap-up party, filming Scooby-Doo 2 they say but it does sound like more likely that there's been some hostility on the set.

And also from Sci-Fi Wire (while we're rumor-mongering):

While it's still unclear if "Angel" will even be back for a fifth season on The WB, it seems to be even more unclear on who in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" cast will be making the move over there.

During the recent wrap party for the "Buffy" series at the Fox studio sets, Sci-Fi Wire had a chance to catch up with some of the cast and crew.

Co-creator Joss Whedon said he'd like to see more than one person make the switch over to "Angel," even if it's temporary.

"We're still finding out who's where and what's what and making sure the show comes back," Whedon said. "But as far as I'm concerned, everybody should stop by. Next year, we have an entirely new thing planned, which
I'm really excited about. And we'll also be seeing some 'Buffy' characters on it."

Of course, the question becomes exactly who will be making the move. The latest rumors have Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) and James Marsters (Spike) making the British invasion of the show.

"We're trying to work it out," Marsters said. "There's goodwill and a real want for that to work out. There are constraints involved. And so it's not a lock. But I think that we're all going to make a good effort to try to make that happen in some way. Time and money, man. Time and
money."

Whedon said he was "pretty confident" that the show wouldbe picked up for the next season.

"Let me put it this way," he said. "'Angel' will be around. I just don't know where."

Some reports have UPN interested in the series, although it's no longer contractually obligated to pick up the series if The WB should decide to cancel it. Another report had the Fox network very interested in grabbing the show.

In a related story to the end of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," TV Guide is reporting that Simon & Schuster has announced it will release its final "Buffy" novel on May 20.

The Coldplay song is the episode with the magick jacket, Him I think it's called, bout episode 6 right?

At least I'm pretty sure that's the song, it's played when Dawn catches Buffy on the desk with the guy she likes.

Cheerio Buffy eh? Nobody ever said she had to be in charge, chuck her out, get lost, piss off etc.

Who wouldn't rather by led by Faith anyway

Nothing much really happened though it's getting near the end and I reckon they need to start moving things along man!

Anyone got plans for the last episode, I met up with some Buffy people at the weekend and they were talking about people flying across to LA to watch the last episode together - yikes.

Will you cry when it's over?

Bear: Buffy is more my type. I rather get led by her.

Yea, I'm getting together with a friend who won't make fun of my bawling through the whole episode. All the other Buffy fans I know are guys and I'm not letting them near me that night. I'm on the verge of crying through most of epiosdes now, so I'll be a mess during the finale. I will admit I'm a pansy. Anyway, we're making a production out of it. Getting some pasta stuffed with smoked salmon, cake and party favors.

Xander trying to keep making jokes, just... sad... Spike and Andrew on the Motorcycle, too damn funny... the cops going crazy weirded me out!.. and everyone deciding Buffy is wrong, well, if Buffy DID lead them in to the Vinyard then the First and Caleb could end them all at once together, by not following Buffy any longer the rest have basically saved themselves by not playing into their hands as Buffy seems to be doing, that's my take... and the inscription, "it's not ment for you, it's for her " or something like that? anyone recken' what that means?

oh i forgot to add after 7yrs (and 2 slightly different cuts) of the Theme, it's nice to see Nerf Herder play the BRONZE, then again, i've been into them way longer than Buffy...

Bear
08:27 / 30.04.03
It was nice to actually just see the BRONZE again!

impulsivelad - yeah I see them early Joss sends them to me for my approval before the get screened

Wow all the hardcore Buffy fans are going mad about the episode, they get really emotional about it all! They think it's horrible the way everyone ganged up on Buffy (past few weeks though they've been complaining about Buffys attitude) It's all true though, nobody ever said Buffy had to be the leader just because she's the Slayer, I'm sure it will all end with her being the hero though, guess it has to although it would be nice if she just didn't come back for the last 3 and Andrew saved the world!

As for the whole "It's not for thee" thing (are we still using SPOILERS) it's a weapon that can be used on the first I believe.

Another lil bit of gossip -

Buffy to Show First Lesbian Sex Scene on Network TV

Next week, in the third-to-last episode of the series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer will become the first network TV series to show a lesbian sex scene.

Over its seven-year run, Buffy has pushed the envelope in terms of of lesbian representation on television in many ways, but not on the physical-affection front. Although lesbian witch Willow (played by Alyson Hannigan) and her first girlfriend Tara (played by Amber Benson) were together for two and a half years, the sexual aspects of their relationship were subtextual rather than textual, especially in the beginning.

Whole article here -

this site

Possibly just trying to grap some ratings but I think it's more to do with the fact they have nothing to lose as mention in the article...

Tamayyurt
16:16 / 30.04.03
Well, seeing as how is the final three and everyone is already watching I don't think it's a rating thing.

You know, I hate that the Joss-verse seems to be slightly fag-a-phobe. They show lesbian stuff (however textual or subtextual) all the time but they always pussy out when it comes to people like Andrew and Lorne. What's up with that shit?

Bear
14:10 / 06.05.03
Very true about the Andrew/Lorne thing, but it's probably because lesbians are cool right, well at least according to tonight episode, what the furk is going on? Who wrote that episode? Was it a 13 year old fan fiction writer? (No offence to any 13 year old fanfic writers of course) but what the hell, everyone's having sex we get a bouncy buffy jumping around all matrix style which I doubt their going to explain.

Blah maybe it wasn't that bad it's just that it's nearly finished and I was expecting a huge build up to the last episode.

And a bomb with a timer for fucks sake, why? Why do people put timers on bombs anyway, why would you want to give the person 10 seconds to run off?

The Willow and Kennedy scene was pretty hot though although they really don't work as a couple for me or the might if there was more time spent on them.

Anyway only 2 more to go and the last Angel tomorrow night!

Spoilers for 3rd to last.

Well now I'm just depressed. What does it say when the most plausible couple is an ex-demon and the kid in the eye-patch? And kite string? Tongue piercings are all well and good, but 'let me be your kite string'?!! I made my fiance promise not to MST3K it before the episode started, but by the second commercial break, I told him to go ahead. While I'm whining, why isn't the holy weapon of power ever a little bit rusty? Why is it hot pink titanium? (I know, it was red... I'll shut up. I'm taking this way too personally. I need me a life.)

The holy weapon was great, actually. It's a weapon/plot that Joss Whedon originally introduced in the comic book, Fray, about a futuristic slayer named Melaka Fray. It was given to her by a watcher-like figure [In the future, the Watchers are nothing more than lunatics, because the Slayer line had been non-existent for centuries.] He explained that the axe [with a stake on the end] was the traditional weapon of the Slayer, passed from generation to generation, but that it had been lost for centuries. My sister and I have been waiting for them to tie Buffy and Fray together forever, specifically with the axe. We originally thought it was going to be brought in when Wood gave Buffy a bag from his mother.

If you're a fan of Buffy and you haven't read Fray, it is worth it. The series suffered major, major problems with releasing the final two issues [It was something over a year between issues 6 and 7]. Issue 8 [the final issue] is supposed to be out in June. It's written by Joss Whedon and illustrated by Karl Moline.

To be honest, I think the was the first really good episode since Conversations With Dead People.....

God damn..... Buffy and Spike done right.... end it now, b/c I'm suffice with that, and that's all I needed to know. =) And I liked the kite thing.... well, not really but listen to Kennedy half the time... she WOULD say something like that BS, it's in character without a doubt.

possible end of show spoilers here! beware!

cool! i am glad someone else noticed that the weapon from last night's ep was the same one from fray. i see that fray has the weapon in issue #6, but i can't find where she gets it. in which issue does that happen?

and according to issue #3:

"it was some hundreds of years ago, in the twenty first century. there was a battle. a slayer, possibly with some mystical allies, faced an apocalyptic army of demons. and when it was done...they were gone. all demons, all magicks(sic), banished from this earthly dimension. we do not know if she lived. but, the demons being gone, she was the last to be called".

and in the same frame as this text is a girl in shadow, not clear if it is buffy, holding the same weapon we saw at the end of last night's episode.

so, did joss reveal the end of the series over a year ago in a comic book?

and how will that play out if he stays true to what he has written in fray? all magic banished from the world? would that mean angel, spike, etc. would dissapear? and if the buffy-verse and the angel-verse are the same, how would the ending proposed in fray affect "Angel"?

Tamayyurt
14:23 / 07.05.03
Not dissapear just become human, which is what's supposed to happen to Angel when he stops the end of the world. Still, it's all gonna be pretty lame if they're reduced to stopping bank robbers on Angel.

Tamayyurt
14:26 / 07.05.03
Oh wait a min. never mind, there will still be magikal evil in other dimensions I think that's what they might end up doing next season on Angel, in conjunction with Wolfram & Heart, an interdimensional police force. Damn, that does sound fucking lame.

Wow, this was the first Buffy episode in a long time that I actually felt good about after watching, even with the cheezy cliffhanger.

So anyone else get the impression the weapon was a bit like the Sword In The Stone? Only in this case Excalubir is being chizeled out by eyeless minions of evil...

Also, a Gold Star for this line:

Spike: NO.

Buffy: You've always had a hard time accepting that word.

Ow! Rape humor! Nice one

anna_101
15:38 / 07.05.03
yeah the other line that made me giggle in that scene:

Buffy: NO.

Spike: You mean 'no' as in 'eventually'?

hee.

also, would have like to see giles get laid. don't know with who. and maybe him not getting any is another indication that he is actually evil giles.

andrew getting tingly over a picture of warren would have also been good for a laugh. and boy did this ep need laughs.

I would like the end of Buffy to coincide with the explanation in Fray, but I'm not sure it will work out for a number of reasons. One, obviously is the continuation of Angel [any final word on whether or not that series is cancelled, I know it was 'on the bubble']. The other is the argument over whether Faith or Buffy is "technically" the Slayer, and which will be the final one. [Rumors that Whedon is considering a spin-off based on Faith would suggest that all will not end as suggested in Fray, but that rumor may also be an intentional false lead. Every magazine/trade/paper has at one time or another attributed to the fact that one Buffy cast member or another will move over to Angel, or get a spin-off, etc... when Joss has said [SPOILER!] that people will die. They could all be intentional mis-leads.]

Dunno. If all the demons are banished at the end, would that affect vampires with souls? That might be a loophole. Then again, its not like Angel hasn't done enough dimention hopping to get his ass back anyway, is it? I suspect they may be able to yet run that ending and work around it to continue Angel somehow.

thw 21st century is a long time, so there is no reason buffy needs to be the one to banish evil, it could be a slaying in 2060 for all we know, now that buffy found the weapon, it can be passed down properly to the one who is going to save the world from evil
