Well, my area is completely encased in ice, which is being slowly covered in snow, so I'm not going anywhere, and I have no life. Anyone up?

Well I am up Mazarine, but since you don't know me, I am probably no help at all...

But whilst I'm here: I have no snow, no ice, just boring English weather. And actually it appears, no life either! LOL!

I also have no life. Just spent the last couple of hours - get this - cataloguing compact discs. Had a sudden 'Shit! What happens if there's a fire, or a break-in? Argh!' moment. Also decided that it was a good opportunity to get some kind of order into things.

I'm bored with it now, though, so I'm going to bed. Night night.

Yeah, I'm just loafing around, spending a little time with my fish, working on my fanfiction, fighting the hicups. Friday, huh?

Mazarine, how many fish have you?

I'm loathe to start this, because I am sure it will be a call for debate, but my cure for hiccups (which has never failed) is as follows: get someone to hold a glass up to your lips so you can drink it, whilst you put your fingers in your ears. Sounds thick, I know, but it works.

They went away for now. I've got one and my fiance has one, fighting fish, so they have to stay seperate.

Hey SeanMcGFoC, I've never heard of them before...what kind of music are they?

paw
03:27 / 05.04.03
they bring out their albums on the warp label, generally grouped under the genre known as 'intelligent dance music' IDM - beats and bleeps but very beautiful and unusual sounding in my opinion- so much so that i'm up at 6.30am downloading. i recommend their EP 'Garbage' if you want to hear some of their stuff

Saint Keggers
03:44 / 05.04.03
I'll go look for some mp3's of theirs to download when I have the time.
Im usually not into the whole dance music scene...(a metalhead from way back.)

Well, I'm here. Whoop dee doo. My flatmate's girlfriend has STILL got her car parked in my space. So the friends of mine from Canberra who've driven out here have gone into the comic con without me, while I wait so I can get the pass and move the car so it doesn't get ticketed.

Yes. You are rightly envious of my rich existence.

Huggles for Maz, too.

Damn it's early but I want a conversation. Saturday night and I'm sitting in the computer room pretending to do work. Yuk. I'd go out but I'm in the mood for clubbing and my friends are going to some indie night that I'd be up for except I need *gasp* hard, dance music.

Whatcha doin?????

I am here now! Work wasn't great and I honestly think that I really, really need to think less about Anna Stothard. What should it matter that she had a column in The Observer when she was 16, and that her first book was published this month, at one year older then me.

At least her column sounds like it was written by a good little Catholic with big curly blonde hair who's 20 but still goes to the under-18's youth group. It really, really does.

Anna Stothard is from the same 'incredibly talented and originally precocious and only put on Earth to depress the hell out of others' school as Julie Burchill. I find the only reasonable option is to take on board the advice No matter what you do, there will always be someone better at it than you and not get stressed about it.

19:39 / 05.04.03
Yeh, I get that. And I get how I'm, you know, 18. And still have school nites to get drunk in far away cities in, should anyone in their 30s be reading this, but still... Just how the fuck do you get columns in the first place anyway??

Saint Keggers
19:43 / 05.04.03
sleep with the editor or just keep sending stuff in untill someone decides to publish something you wrote.

Shrug
19:44 / 05.04.03
Yeah you can't constantly measure yourself against people who seem to be the exemption to the rule. Normally you go through rejection after rejection before you get a book published, don't you?

Tryphena Absent

She's not very good, hardly worth getting het up about. Amazing that she should be so readily employed when there are so many better qualified just gasping for a chance.

_pin
19:54 / 05.04.03
That's just it! I'm not very good AND I SWEAR. See? I'm already better then her. Plus, I've modestly decided that I'm worth getting het up about. Which also puts me ahead of her.

And! And! I'm going grey and my hair's falling out. In raw, quantifiable, scientific terms, I'm way more precocious then her.

Olulabelle
19:55 / 05.04.03
Everyday you can pick up a paper or a book and think quite justifiably, 'I could do so much better than this'. Maybe the point is that not many people really bother to try.

Hmm, you could always go and live in Malaysia where the quality of written English journalism is so bad they'd kill for you, and then transplant yourself back here with a CV full of published work.....

I don't know whether to eat bread or chocolate, or melt the chocolate and pour it onto my bread...

Olulabelle

Help: Which costs less; Merlot or Rioja? Therefore being less likely to result in me being shouted at by my housemate if I drink it?

Ellis says:
20:00 / 05.04.03
Drink both.

Saint Keggers
20:02 / 05.04.03
Yes, drink both. Then go into a drunken rant that there's no wine in the house.

Olulabelle
20:05 / 05.04.03
I've chosen the Rioja to start with because oddly it looks cheaper...

Bread with chocolate? Is that good? Is it a bit like eating chocolate spread on toast? (I'm talking before Nutella here, in the white plastic tubs that you used to get.)

Saint Keggers
20:06 / 05.04.03
When in doubt just use your fingers.

Tryphena Absent
20:06 / 05.04.03
Merlot is so much nicer than rioja it's not even funny. Drink the Merlot, Merlot, Merlot deserves capitalisation.

Melt the chocolate and pour it on to the bread.

Pah, anyone can do better than Anna (but which Anna am I talking about. Hmmm?)

Ellis says:
20:07 / 05.04.03
Well |I decided to just have them both on their own. And then have quavers for dessert.

Saint Keggers
20:07 / 05.04.03
whats a quaver?
