We haven't had a round of this for quite a while, so...

Bank

Kit-Cat Club
08:56 / 28.11.02
Hmmm.

Kennington...

The Strobe
09:58 / 28.11.02
Hmn. Been a while since I've played Greenberg variant, but I'm sure I'll get up to speed again soon.

Pimlico.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
11:15 / 28.11.02
1886? GodDAMN! Yes! I was champion at school!

Turnpike Lane.

Tezcatlipoca
12:39 / 28.11.02
You were a champion? And they didn't teach you the Snodgrass rule of always listing your move in bold type? Pah! I accuse you of actually being an 1889 champion, Stoatie...

Oh, and, er.. Kings Cross

Kit-Cat Club
17:50 / 28.11.02
I reckon that's a double-bluff. I think Tez is really trying to pull off the Bleeding Heart Yard opening with the Worplesdon variant, and frankly that's just not on. So.

Euston Square

Oh, and are we using the disused stations subset in appendix C?

Our Lady of The Two Towers
19:09 / 28.11.02
Seeing as the firemens strike has closed all deep underground stations I'm passing two and going to Archway...

Tezcatlipoca
20:24 / 28.11.02
Hmmmm...well, since Miss Club has called my bluff, I suppose I'll have to play the Richelieu manoeuvre (as used in the French variant Mornington Croissant), and move to

Picadilly

Our Lady of The Two Towers
22:31 / 28.11.02
(BiP is crossdressing)There's of course the 'dyslexic' rule - which means that I have to name Brixton next. (try giving me some choice next time, Tez. you know how it works, surely?

The Strobe
00:34 / 29.11.02
Oh hell. And now we're down in Brixton. What a mess, I can't even play a bloody unbunk countershuffle because I'm at the end of a line. Hmn.

Oh, of course. Baron's Court. Silly me.

Kit-Cat Club
08:10 / 29.11.02
This may seem counter-intuitive, but

Hammersmith

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
09:44 / 29.11.02
Oooh... clever. And, may I say, somewhat sneaky.

Ealing Broadway.

(And Tez... I thought Snodgrass was posthumously disqualified for an unauthorised use of Gillespie Road.)

Tezcatlipoca
12:05 / 29.11.02
I thought Snodgrass was posthumously disqualified for an unauthorised use of Gillespie Road

Ah..er...he...ahem...he was. You...er...weren't supposed to pull me up on that...ahem...

Which I suppose leaves me only one option:

Marylebone

Our Lady of The Two Towers
12:14 / 29.11.02
Northwood Hills!

Tezcatlipoca
12:56 / 29.11.02
*ouch* Vicious play by the Lord there. Although...perhaps this will cause a stir...

Finchley Road

Now, if I'm right - and taking into account Bloomsfield's Full Body Switch - that should force play onto the Metropoliton line...

Saveloy
14:20 / 29.11.02
Full Body Switch or no Full Body Switch, you need a ride-over to enter the Metro line. Does anyone have a ride-over? No. That means you're all jammed, unless I come in on the fresh with:

Tottington Partway

The Strobe
22:06 / 29.11.02
And where the fuck is that? I've had to go to my pocket reference map to look for that, and still can't find it. So I'm just going to have to play my Re-roll Jungian Shift to get out of this mess.

Brent Cross.

Far too early to play it, but I wasn't going to get out of that alive otherwise.

Our Lady of The Two Towers
11:07 / 30.11.02
Well, I have to be honest and thank the Lord that you were forced to do that now, because I can counter with Mill Hill East which often gets closed due to that double-shunt rule later on in the longer games...

Kit-Cat Club
11:50 / 30.11.02
Farringdon

Heheheheheh....

The Strobe
11:55 / 30.11.02
Oh no you don't.

Bethnal Green

(Good play by the Lord, though, and opens the mid-game up nicely).

Tezcatlipoca
13:58 / 30.11.02
I don't think you people really understand the principle of this game, that being to not only let me win but to also congratulate me on the fact for some years afterwards. But, let's see where this takes us...

Warren Street

Kit-Cat Club
10:37 / 01.12.02
I still think this one is a bit tight, chaps. Let's blow the bloody doors off...

Mile End

What's life worth if you can't take a risk, eh?

Our Lady of The Two Towers
10:44 / 01.12.02
For the benefit of Bengali in Platforms, The Blakes 7 version of Mornington Crescent

Hmmm, what are you up to Kit-Kat?

Perivale.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
11:08 / 01.12.02
Wonderful link there, Lord, but the distraction will get you nowhere.

Fuck it, as Cat says, let's have a fucking laugh, right?

Wembley Park. HAH! How'd'ya like THEM apples?

Our Lady of The Two Towers
13:49 / 01.12.02
Woh-ho! But Stoatie, did you ignore Ealing Common or are you just feeling as sleepy as your God?

The Strobe
22:19 / 01.12.02
Parson's Green

What more can I say?

Kit-Cat Club
22:53 / 01.12.02
As I believe Greenberg 1886 allows me to employ the double-back and forward multiple move I'm going for

Borough

stopping off for a quick pt at the George, of course.

A five-rung leap (the Davies' Diversion, I think they called it at that tournament in 1974) to Waterloo Station, where I'll meet Terry and Julie.

The Return Of Rothkoid

Maida Vale

And you thought you'd not see a Coates-Resident Manoeuver this game, eh?

Our Lady of The Two Towers
10:25 / 02.12.02
I noticed you only have the cheek to try a move like that when there's a planet between you and me my young Padawan...

London Victoria and let the chips fall where they may.

Goodness Gracious Meme
14:15 / 02.12.02
You see Lada, that might have stolen you a march, if it were someone else's turn next. As it is:

Theydon Bois!

Kit-Cat Club
17:34 / 02.12.02
Edging towards it...

Waterloo East

grant
17:46 / 02.12.02
Is that legal?

The Strobe
18:00 / 02.12.02
Not sure. I say play on, because it was a pretty bad play on K-CC's part, given that if it was legal then she's in Nid. And if it was illegal, then it never counted anyhow. Coming at it from a different tack might have been crafty... but AFAIR, Greenberg 1886 doesn't play Bank/Monument single-move interchange. So yes. K-CC's in Nid, and I play

Shadwell.

grant
19:15 / 02.12.02
I wasn't thinking about the single-move interchange, I was thinking about the main/branch location recursion rule, since I'd just been to (and presumably was still at) Waterloo. I'm not sure if Greenberg 1886 lines up with the only notes I have on Greenberg (which I think come from a 1969 revision - my parents got a copy at the aforementioned 74 tournament).
