Oh, and thanks for the info, moriarty!

Baz, the 18th is a Sunday - I remember this because a local goth bar is hosting a beach party that night (high weirdness indeed). That weekend (17-18th) is pretty good for me. The Black Bull is a good spot, being right across the street from the Silver Snail, and plenty of food & dancefloors nearby. Is there a general music preference for dance floor shenanigans?

Y'know, I've never actually been to Blow Up (Lee's Palace, Britpop, Sat nights)... I'm always upstairs, and say "Gee! I'd really like to dance to that!" on the way out. Lee's is at Bathurst and Bloor, about a 25 min walk from Queen and Soho (the Snail area). Down the street from there is... oh, hell. This is probably better discussed in person, isn't it? I have Saturday the 17th (6 PM on) free.

My mom is touching down in Toronto on the 16th and I will probably be there to see her whether the car is running or not. I'll probably have to return to Ottawa fairly quickly, so again I may be in town that weekend. I will keep you posted and bring my dancing shoes, just in case.

Baz, I'm very familiar with the "hitchiking is bad..." bits of the guidebooks. I'm sure with the wonders of the internet there isn't a need for guidebooks to provide more info anyway.

One other thing to add if you're considering thumbing it. Getting out of big cities isn't any fun at all. Usually you have to take the transit as far as you can and go from there.

If we're going to Blow Up, we could head to Beguiling for our comix fix, rather than the Snail, and stay in the Annex area. Future Bakery is nearby, with an excellent patio and cheap food.

Shall we say Future Bakery then? any time preferable?

Ok.....I'll be there too. Prefer not to be near a dance floor.....alcohol is a must :-)

Sound like a plan? Confirmation? What do you all look like?

Unfortunately, plans have changed. I'll either be going through Toronto later, or not at all. Hope everyone has a good time!

Unsure if I can make it - a good friend just accepted a job at the Hague and is leaving on Monday, so Saturday has been assigned as a farewell gathering... Will do my best to pop by Future's between 8 & 9, but no promises. If I don't make it, have a good time!

I'm always up for a pint and I'm usually in that neck of the woods. I'm curious as to seeing what barbelith people are like in person. Count me in

oh GOD, but I miss my Blow-Up. Next week it'll be one year since I rocked the nasty carpeted stage floor at my beloved dance night. Okay, end threadrot. Everyone drink one for me, because I've given up drinking as of monday morning (world hockey championships, canadian ex-pat in helsinki with nationalist sporting pride to prove, many drunk people buying me alcohol, you get the picture. more shit was spoken than I'll ever tell you about).

We'll have a pint in your name, wembley. Sorry you can't make it though. (come on! Finland isn't that far!)

To help us find each other, I'll try and get a seat on the patio, and will have my top hat sitting on the table. Umm.. brown hair?

Sounds like we'll all have a pint for wembley... both you and moriarty will be missed (along with the others I met a few years ago).

I'll be there, though, around 8-8:30. Baz' top hat should make the table easy to find. Failing that, shout "Namu Amida Butsu", and I'm sure one of us will take notice.
