And I just feel I should underline this point again: fuck the 4 main ideas - he bends them into more shapes than Beckham. Always a new slant, always a new narrative trick, always a new approach to writing....and all that wonderful throwaway weirdness: Mutants mouthbreeding exotic canary UFO's to whom they feed chocolate, for fuck's sake! Creamy Goodness!

Just want to add that Dimitri shooting at the cat made me piss myself.

More Russian, ex-cosmonaut monkeys (in jumpers fresh from Granny's knitting needles) should take pot shots at dying cats. It's very important.

yawn - dont knock the cryptosprid, it's the reason half a million Glaswegians can now effectively pronounce a six syllable word.

And haus of whateveryouarenow - like i said - "write a new story, you know you have it in you."

Am I the only person that suspects that Greg really IS a paedophile, and those little graves aren't just dead cats?

I don't think that would work in the context of the story for several reasons; Despite the porn, Feely's clearly a character whos motives are supposed to be simple, good and basically empathetic. Considering his "giving dignity to the little animals" thing, if he were a paedophile, he'd be overrun with such intense paradoxical self-hatred that it would be splattered all over the previous three issues.. whereas instead his manner (aside from all the interference of The Hand) is very calm and "I've got my simple life & I'm happy with it".
I think what's far more likely to happen is that he'll get framed, and that element of the story will become a simple tale of "See, he was basically a nice bloke, and you were all nasty to him because he was a bit weird.." Also, he's clearly becoming this comic's Grant fictionsuit, and he's unlikely to want to present himself as a paedo, is he?

ooh - and the stuff with the lady next door spying on him - clear echoes of Rear Window.. d'you reckon it's consciously intended as a reflection of Secret Original's whole deal, as previously discussed in this thread?

yeah this comic's called the filth - you shouldn't expect the lead character to be a saint. or at least, not just a saint.

Riz: I'd say the hand is a pretty good example of Mr. Feely "splattered all over" the last three issues - a perfect rendering of one man and his disassociative disorder. Feely escapes to a secret world - lurking in the cracks of the world-we-know - and what does he find there beneath consensus reality? The Filth, and the constant attempts of a super-ego desperately trying to clean it all up.

Grant isn't interested in looking all pure and cool with this one - he's more interested in.... Remember La Coste and the semi and the filthonauts and their work with the anti-mirror. Remember the nigredo. Remember the anti-sun. The Filth has nothing to do with denial and "we're not paedos"...it's about the bad thoughts, the nasty thoughts...the ghoul devouring the corpse.

I don't think there'll be some shock ending - "Hey! Greg turned out to be a childrapistkiller all along!" - but that demon might rear its head along the way. The Filth will be as complex and multi-levelled/modelled as anything Morrisons written. Greg can be a saint as well. But he's a saint in Hell.

Hi folks.

My real name's Duncan, but I see you already have a poster here using my name.I usually post as Jack Frost 23, but I think that would look stoopid here.

Anyway, love de site, and all that metafiction jazz goin' on in T'Filth. Anyone remember Planetary #10 - I think? 'Planet Fiction.'

It was dedicated to GM and had a character from 'fictional' reality entering the WS universe. Mmmmm.

having just read 'The Pro' by Garth Ennis I have come to the conclusion that it is his 'Filth'

Ennis' interface with all that is unhealthy within the field that he tills. Taking his technique and style to the wickedest, poorest, most unpleasant conclusion he can manage. (okay, this is not exactly what the filth is doing but I'm sure you understand my point)

I belive we will see something entirely disfferent from Ennis with his next creator owned project.

has anyone managed to find "crack!comicks.com" that is mentioned at the very bottom of the last page. It promises more filth. And I want more.

“Atom-avenger’s thermovolver…real.”

I’m obsessing over this bit for some reason.

The idea of retrieving something from a fictional world – bringing it into 3D “really real” reality – this thrills me.

But Secret Original could also be thought of here as akin to the sad types who buy those “limited edition” sculptures of superheroes you see ads for in comics. Or the kind of people who get excited over work by that guy who makes a living out of painting “realistic” superheroes – whatsisname – did the covers for all the first ABC issues – Ross. That’s it. Alex Ross?

“Batman’s batmobile..real.”
“Wonder Woman…real.”

So is Secret Original a “geek” with an unhealthy obsession for old comics?

Or are people who like the work of Alex Ross(?) – and who buy models of superheroes – in fact manifesting without shame the Will to See Dreams Come True? (While I’m the truly sad one, for sneering at those who openly seek the thrills I’ve already admitted to experiencing?)

Doh!

Ahem. Yes. 5D.

Which reminds me (changing subject quickly) – you know when you’re watching a movie that had originally been made to be seen in “3D”, with the special glasses, but now its just a regular movie, and every so often you’re treated to a minute or two of bizarrely meaningless “action” that seems to have no relevance whatsoever to anything that’s gone before or will come after, but would presumably be amazing if the film was still “3D” and you had those special glasses? E.g. the guy with the rubber-ball-on-a-bat in “House of Wax”?

Well…do you ever have moments like that in real life?

(very drunk now) Hang on -- "five"? (counting stupidly) 1,2,3...4...

What's the fifth dimension? Have you got special glasses or something?

(grumble...mutter...elitist barbelith motherfuckers with their secret special glasses...mumble...)

Ack, I'm late to this one (hell, I haven't even got Filth #4 yet). Anyway, #3 was my favorite so far. Greg Feely could be one of my favorite Grant Morrison characters ever, pedophile or not. Anyone who takes care of small animals always wins me over, especially cat people.

A week after reading that issue my own pet cat, dying of cancer, had to be put down. I was with him when he got the shot that put him to sleep. Later on I buried him in the backyard. Looking at that last panel of the issue (and Greg's cat's face before he gets the shot) or even the dead kitten in the rain brings tears to my eyes, I can't help it.

I like Dmitri the monkey a lot too, even if he is a stereotypical communist.
