I've already been groomsman twice and then best man, but now my friend has asked me to be the PRIEST at her wedding. I'm pretty sure that's an honor, if an unusual one.

apparently, everyone else she's friends with is an atheist, and she wants the ceremony done by someone she knows.

I got the official "you're a reverend!" license off a skeevy internet site, so I think I'm legal, but otherwise...advice? I guess advice could go in the questions thread.

I've celebrated a few weddings (minister in the Universal Life Church, from when you had to send in a postcard). The outline is pretty simple, and most of the ritual trappings will change depending on the desires of the couple (and their families).

I can talk more about this elsewhere, if you like.

It's been really hot and sticky these last few days (and nights). Now the air has cooled down and there is a thunderstorm brewing. I'm sitting right by the window which is wide open and I'm getting a wonderful breeze in my face. There is also a lovely fresh smell in the air. It's pure bliss.

One of my best mates from work has just moved back into the area... just been round there, drinking mojitos and talking shit. And it took two minutes maximum to walk home. I love this place sometimes.

Watching Psycho Beach Party this afternoon more than made up for seeing Dark Knight last night and being disappointed with it. Lauren Ambrose is awesome.

I am going to pick up my brand new rabbit friend. He is a netherland dwarf and will be named Moth after one of the fairies in a Midsummer Nights Dream.

(I've always wanted a black rabit called Phooka, but the black rabbit in the shop looked a bit of a sour puss. Moth looked like a nicer one, so I changed fairy name)

I no longer need human friends, I have replaced them all.

He fits into the palm of my hand!

I just found out about the breeding of dwarf rabbits. It has marred slightly my purchase. I thought they where just small rabbits. I didn't realise they where carriers for fatal congenital issues. 1 in 4 is not compatible with life. I do feel bad to have funded that.

HOwever, I've just learnt that the constant twitching my rabbit is doing in my prescence is a "binky". Which is a sign of joy and pleasure. So I'm feeling very flattered. According to the books he should still be a bit weird and frightened around me. But he seems to really like my company.

So that is cool.

The Connoisseuse of Slugs

When I was a connoisseuse of slugs
I would part the ivy leaves, and look for the
naked jelly of those gold bodies,
translucent strangers glistening along the
stones, slowly, their gelatinous bodies
at my mercy. Made mostly of water, they would shrivel
to nothing if they were sprinkled with salt,
but I was not interested in that. What I liked
was to draw aside the ivy, breathe the
odor of the wall, and stand there in silence
until the slug forgot I was there
and sent its antennae up out of its
head, the glimmering umber horns
rising like telescopes, until finally the
sensitive knobs would pop out the
ends, delicate and intimate. Years later,
when I first saw a naked man,
I gasped with pleasure to see that quiet
mystery reenacted, the slow
elegant being coming out of hiding and
gleaming in the dark air, eager and so
trusting you could weep.

Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.

Today, I won the Haus Prize for Third Worst Use of Slang on Barbelith. Which is, Yo! how I roll, dawg. Y'dig?

The only downside is not knowing who beat me out and with what? That, and my newfound geek-need to create functional Bizzaro-slang. Would not be medium temperature!
