I am currently playing Star Trek: Armada II. It rocks. You get to control Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Borg or Species 8472. It's fast, shiny and has lots of explosions in.

And its so nice to hear a Klingon woman say "Give me more power."

So what are you playing?

I went on a game buying spree (well 3) I got Final Fantasy X (which I've given up on for the moment, Virtua Fighter 4 which is really great and is making me feel like I know Kung-Fu...

But mostly I've been playing Deus Ex which I'm really enjoying although all the moral stuff is a little bit freaky, I'm starting to feel guilty for killing so many people, and for going into the ladies restroom

Recently, I've kinda gone off video games. Partially because of lack of choices (I've got a Mac and it's too slow to play games) but also because there seems to be alot of redundant games out there nowadays. I remember playing FPS games where the pixels were almost bigger than the enemies and thinking "Wow!!!", but there's so many shooter games out there.

But to answer your question, a couple of months ago I was still working my way through the Starcraft campaigns (I'm playing as the Protoss now--which is hard as hell). And even though I've got a Dreamcast, I don't hardly play it anymore. But one day I'll find Phantasy Star Online for DC and maybe that'll get me back into gaming again. Hopefully, anyways....

These days, I rarely play games on my PC. Odd as it may seem, I find web designing and chatting more fun. I sometimes play character-mode Nethack though.

If I play games, they're on my GBA. I've nearly finished Castlevania (after a long pause) and I think I'm in the final stages of Advance Wars, though it's hard to tell. I need some new GBA games, really.

Half Life, picked up a cheap copy and its quite fun despite the fact I'm getting my ass handed to me on a regular basis. Not as good as System Shock II but the fact I'm getting nervous about whats on the celing when I go into a room now is an indication that I like the game

And having intelligent enemies is very different.

Personally I'm waiting for Master of Orion III (MOO3 to its friends), Civ 3 disappointed as its a bit too fiddly and takes far too long to run through the other empires turns to make it as fun as Civ1 or 2. But I've got high hopes and it does look oh so shiney.

And also with you there on Republic, start your own revolution, or become a drug dealer and work up to be a dictator. It has scope :-) but I'm still worried I'll have to sell a kidney to fund the computer updgrade to run it.

I'm (still) hooked on Arcanum, even though lack of a decent internet connection at home prevents me from engaging in any online multi-player stuff. The scope of this game is simply astounding...I've played it right through with six different characters, just to see what differences having different character attributes and technology/magick balances makes, and I've been surprised every time.

Let's see. I just finished Arcanum with my 50th level elven mage so I started Deus Ex. I suck at first person shooters most of the time, but I think I'm doing pretty good on this one. I'm only on the second mission because I keep getting barbequed.

Then there's Final Fantasy 8. It seems to be the black sheep of the final fantasy family. So what if you actually have to modify your weapons, and draw magic from enemies? So what if it's not like the rest of the games. It's still pretty fun, and I know the story will be interesting up until the prison escape on Disc two, then it'll go completely to shit.

Having only got a computer last summer, I'm still catching up on all the old ones, while not being able to resist the temptation of all those shiny new ones... Half Life, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Jedi Knight II, Deus Ex, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds... all are vying for my attention.
And don't even ask Barry Auckland about Civilization III...

Gauntlet II on the MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator).
Basically, remember all those arcade games when you were a kid that you wanted to play SO BADLY but never had enought 10p's? Well this is a free software download that emulates the arcade machines and then you can pick up the relevant software for just about any old arcade game.
I suspect it was invented to ruin my career.

I just finished a rather clever game called Freedom Force, which is basically a parody of the comics made during the 50's and 60's. It was a bit short, but a lot of fun.

Other than that, I'm playing a bit of Tribes 2, Starcraft, and Morrowind.

I'm replaying Deus Ex. The AI's a bit ropey, a lot of the interactive plot is smoke and mirrors, and the lead character is really dull.
But damn, it's good. Fun in a cyberpunk bun.

I cured myself of my MMORPG addiction about two months ago- kicked Dark Age of Camelot the hell off my hard drive. It was just a kind of Everquest patch anyway.

I haven't had time to play anything this week but I did plough my way through Dungeon Siege a week or two back. Very good game, very very very addictive (no sleep for the best part of a week.) Now I'm having a retro phase, because older games seem less likely to trigger obsessive-compulsive symptoms in my frail pixellated psyche.

My brother has a new Gamecube, so in the beginning I would play a little Resident Evil when he wasn't on (which was very rare) and we had a good time with Super Smash Bros. I can only really play games for maybe 20 minutes at a time before I get restless, though. He rented Spider-man, but I only got to play two rounds because I was on my way out.

Other then that, I have Bionic Commando (the only game that I will allow in my NES) and I'm considering digging up the C64 for a little Montezuma's Revenge.

I just discovered that there is a Z axis in the Star Trek game, so as well as being able to move around the map, you can move "up" and "down".
It's so cool having your fleet hiding beneath a gas cloud

Still, I wish that the defiant actually did something in the game instead of being blown up after being shot once (once!) by a borg cube.

Gah! This sucks. I've tried everything. I've tried using the stealth pistol and sneaking through the vents, I've tried the rambo approach with the shotgun, I've tried just running up to the guy and bashing his brains in with a baton. Nothing. I keep getting barbequed. I refuse to enable cheats. Why must Deus Ex be so hard?

I don't know why I bother. I know I suck at first person shooters, but I keep playing them. Maybe I should go back to playing something I'm good at. Now where did I put my copy of Planescape: Torment?

In Deus Ex, I found that a strategy of stealth followed by excessive use of the assault rifle after being discovered usually got me through most of the missions. What part are you having trouble with?

Try to use the stun darts. Shoot, run away, wait for body to drop unconscious. Pick up body, hide it. Repeat to fade. Alternatively, simply resort to the traditional PC FPS tactic or frequent Quick Saves.

Currently plaing my way through the PC version of GTA3 which is fairly addictive despite having major moral issues wrt content. Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind has been started, by my computer's starting to show its age (P3 733, GeForce 2, but plenty of RAM) and the frame rate's pretty low. That said, I can see myself losing the summer to that game once I get into it a bit more. The character development system's well thought out and it's got the feel of a MMORPG with the bonus of a proper storyline.

Tribes 2 is still where it's at online for me.

Still got to finish Aliens vs Predator 2, Operation Flashpoint, Baldur's Gate 2 and need to get my head round Europa Universalis 2.

Just about to fire Advance Wars up again to try to get past the level I'm stuck on and also need to hone my Mario Kart Super Circuit skills in preparation for an upcoming two player tournament.

Then there's my brand spanking new Gamecube, where Waverace, Super Monkey Ball, Tony Hawk's 3 and Super Smash Bros Melee are taking up far too much of my life. Three or four of you plaing against each other in the same room still beats online play into a cocked hat any day of the week.

I dug up Hexen, which I don't remember ever playing, as it was on a disk with Heretic, and I jumped right into Heretic. It's VERY old school, but is more like the first Quake than Doom (which it immediately followed). I'm also playing Halo on my X-Box, and if I get a day off this week, I'm going to dive back into Final Fantasy IV on my Playstation.

Who knows, I might throw Hexen on my laptop and make that my Bored as Shit as work game.

What part are you having trouble with?

The second mission, where you have to take out the terrorists in the castle. I've found the back way in through the soda machine and I'm able to take out the first few people using either my heavily modded sniper rifle or the stealth pistol, but I keep getting barbequed by the guy with the flamethrower.

I'm about to go give it another try. If only I could find a TNT crate. Those things solved most of my problems in the first mission.

The trick there, as with most of Deus Ex, is head shots, head shots, and more head shots. Oh, and when used properly, the tranquilliser dart crossbow is easy one the most powerful weapons in the game, especially when the victim is unaware of your presence...

Agent Under Fire? Not played it myself, don't have a huge amount of enthusiam driving me to do so at any point in the future. For a start, they're developed and published by completely different companies. EA bought the rights to the Bond license for the forseeable future after they saw what a massive hit Goldeneye had been for Rare and Nintendo. Main difference between the companies: Rare & Nintendo both generally tend to stick to a policy of delaying the release of a game until they're satisfied that it's the best it could possibly be, the quality of the finished product having as much importance for them as the profit they receive from its sales. EA, on the other hand, are justifiably derided for being a 'fast buck' company, happy to churn out any old tat that looks like it'll sell (say hello to the bi-monthly FIFA 'updates' and the ever-growing library of Sims add-ons, all of which could quite easily have been released for free as patches over the Net).

For what it's worth, most reviews say AUF's a passable attempt; steady workmanship rather than striking brilliance. Rent it, or save your money for something that displays a spark of originality. Rant over.

I messed up level 2 on Deus Ex I got into the subway train before going to the castle but it still lets you complete the mission, the female agent complains but thats all...but she aint complaining no more

Like Fist of Fun I've been using MAME - I got a CD with lots of ROMS and I've been playing all the classics, Outrun, Bomerman, Bomberjack, Gauntlet II but the one I like the most is a Japanese puzzle game like columns - great stuff.

But I've been playing Championship Manager this weekend which is weird because I don't really like football that much, but its very addictive and weird using players I used to muck about with when I was young.

I have been playing Civilization. I have been playing it since 1992, and I can't stop.

The 3rd being the greatest with borders and mutual protection pacts and etc. I miss the thousands of maps and scenarios you could download with the 2nd one though....

I've wanted to find a copy of the origional GTA for some time. It was set in the 60's, looked really Mod and had an early Ska soundtrack for the gameplay. For some reason, it didn't sell well and It's kinda hard to get a hold of.

And if you 1) are big into RPG's, 2) have a PC & 3) want to play for free, I've heard nothing but good things abou Ragnarok Online. I've seen a couple of screenshots and was really impressed (especially for the price). I think the main servers are in Korea, so you may need a fast net connection for it to work. The addy is:
