Well, shit. Grant and I have both written interesting stuff that is not getting published...

Is blogger having problems I don't know about??

Last time I went on, I noticed the last entry was posted, but not published. Lemme see if it's the same this time....

Minty seems ok to me....

The latest thing I see on the public blog is Minty talking about the plague.

Where are famine in Africa and Clark talking in his sleep?

I'm sorry to say that so far I've only read Arthur's journal and nobody else's. I'll get around to it soon though, I promise..

Monkeys Moo!

Ahhh. I think it's a Blogger problem - see this post.

Well, blogger's back up. And somebody's beginning to feel a strain in their credulity...

I thing Minty should go off about it on the blog:

I'm offended.

A friend of mine, Arthur[link to blog], has gone missing under odd circumstances including the unnatural death of a mutual acquaintance who was interested in things occult, the police are taking it seriously enough to have assigned a detective to the case (more on that later), my personal life may be getting sucked into the same weird mess that swallowed Arthur whole and spit out Phil's corpse, and "somebody" without balls enough to leave contact info calls my experiences crap and thinks they're fiction.

Fuck you too.

On a better note, work's been almost pleasant. The Evil Virgin has been spending more time in her office, the tasks set before me are less than Herculean for a change, and I'm having lunch with Nora on Friday.

..... etc.....

I'm at work, don't have the time to put it up (may not even be able to - wouldn't be surprised if bloggers are "forbidden sites").

Somebody else want to cut and paste?

Yeah, they're having troubles lately, ain't they.

I wonder what our folks are doing for the holidays.

Well??

I dunno. I think something about it just hasn't been right. Part of my agreement with the Doubting Thomas guy is the fact that Minty has dropped concerned for her friend over the trivial, mundane in her life. There's no pathos over Arthur's disappearance. So when called on it, Minty responds with a stiffly defensive monologue about Arthur (and a link in his name. As if readers of the blog didn't know by now who Arthur is) and then ends in what feels like staged anger. The suspension of disbelief would be there if she actually talked about Arthur some. As a reader, I'd want to know more about why he's so important to her. I want to feel connected to the guy through her. Otherwise, Minty loses a friend and spends most of her blogs talking about boys, dating, and what's in the news today.

Maybe she gets depressed this holiday season and starts to talk about our favorite Cockroach-man?

S.A.D. reflections.

Yeah, I can picture something about that.

Done.

Hey, can anyone with web authoring skills make a page mocked up to look like a Boston Herald local news article, complete with the header and with links and all to the main paper?
Stephen's been out of action far too long.

Maybe something... happened to him.

Sound OK?

Yeah, I was thinking he's going to hear from his mysterious caller again, some point deep into his sheila-less despair, and accept the offer. Stephen would choose one of the abandoned buildings he knows. And he'd go and disappear. The thing is, I would want it to connect back to Minty in some way. Maybe before he goes, he tells Minty what he's doing. Would one more disappearence in her life heighten the tension or just make things seem repetitive? If she's going to have a nervous breakdown, it has to start somewhere. Maybe she follows Stephen to the abandoned building and sees him get killed or worse?

12:22 / 10.12.02
Well, I was just thinking she read about him in the news. It seems like directly witnessing something would be a bit too in-yer-face.

Maybe he's been researching, he found some stuff, shows up at her place all... transformed, like he looks crazy and has a bundle of papers, notes, or (to be digital) a CD-R filled with all kinds of weird files, and and he gives it to her, takes off, and is never heard from again.

And the stuff on the disc is scary. So she starts twigging onto the size of the stark, insane forces she is up against!

Yeah?

gravitybitch
16:36 / 10.12.02
I like. Maybe a combination of scary files on disk, and some papers or stuff he's found while exploring?

I dunno. I'm tired and fried, have no focus right now...

Maybe:

She sees him die.

Then he shows up at her apartment.

Where he dies again.

Then he shows up crossing a street.

Where he dies again.

And again.

etc.

gridley
18:34 / 16.12.02
that would be petty freaky, logos. And if she asked him about it, he could be like, "What are you talking about? Nobody shot me while I was talking to the DJ at ManRay last night! I wasn't even there...."

For convenience's sake, here's minty's blog, and if you feel up to writing, here's where you do the do.

So, Stephen = crazy, keeps dying. Minty = thinks she may be going crazy seeing Stephen die.

Right?

Since nobody's posted in a couple of weeks, may I suggest it's time for a big finish?

Whether Arthur comes back (NuArthur, that is), or the Great Old Ones return and throw a rave at Minty's place, it's time to wind things up and ship the whole thing off to Asimov's...

If nothing else, kids, we convinced a couple people.

Volare just left this comment on Arthur's blog in March 2003:

"So, I'm kind of assuming you're either dead, or in a nice comfy room at McLean....
Sheesh."

Blast from the past. I received and e-mail today (May 9, 2005), via livejournal, which was titled "I can't believe it took me 3 years to track you down". This was someone who thought Arthur was real right up to the very end. Here's a link to a short piece written about Arthur's life and death, and some rather complimentary comments about it. Looks like we were a hit folks. When's the next one?

Oh, and does anyone have Stephen's blog archived? It's no longer active.

Oh, that is *so* beautiful.

I think I still have those blogs on my favorite places here at work. Yep, still do. (no archiving, though)

Aw, it's sweet to be appreciated.

This... is the most genius thing ever. This is why I love Barbelith.

I read all of Arthur's LJ yesterday afternoon, and had the willies for the rest of the night. I think I dreamed about cockroaches.

Must go read Minty and Stephen's blogs now!

It looks like someone found at least a partial archive of Stephen's blog.

Sorry to bump this again, but I'm a huge fan and it came up in the Lovecraftian Puzzle Box thread, so it must be time.
