i love britney too. she's ace and i hate it when people diss her when she's pop.
i think that it's quite easy to hate hip hop music ifyou only go by the stuff you hear on the radio, because popular hip hop right now is in a bit of a state. the hip hop that has been recommended in this thread is truely awesome though, and totally worth downloading.
oh yeah, so what do i hate?
i hate that new song by p.o.d, the christian rock band from the united s of a who sing 'we are, we are, the youth of a nation!' ewww....take it away!
thats pretty much it.
oh yeah, and i really used to hate ska. i used to think it was the loudest dumbest music of all time, and now i really dig it and it sounds like summer to me. so, yr loves and disses can change and
different strokes for, uh, different folks?
ok, i'm leaving.

The more I think about it, the more modern garage "rawk" pisses me off. Oh, sure, there's a couple good bands in there (Mooney Suzuki, whatever Billy Childish does, the Gaza Strippers [who have an awesome name to boot], the Hellacoptors) even a couple excellent ones (The Makers, and I can't really think of another one, maybe after I look through my albums) but the vast majority of stuff out there calling itself garage is garbage (and if you pronounce garbage like rhyming with garage, that's almost a clever play on words, maybe). Murder City Devils, the Hives, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, the Gotohells and the countless other bands out there who rip off the Sonics, Didjits and the Makers, shamelessly without adding anything new or exciting to the mix piss me off to the point of (near) violence. And garage is one of my favorite genres of music, so it upsets me even further that no one can fucking do it right.

hate hate hate these bands
REM, U2, Incubis, Radiohead, Linkin Park, MXPX, Papa Roach, Hello Dave, O.A.R., Phish, All, System of a Down, Dave Matthews Band, Alcaline Trio, the Get Up Kids, Dashboard Confessional, $1.09 & countless other BAD ska-punk bands people swear to me i'd like, Sum41 and any other mall punk band that i never heard of until suddenly they're gettin' mad radio play (also know as the "why jose likes blink182 and green day factor") and any local band that doesn't know my band or the bands we usually play with (i just like to say "have you ever actually BEEN to a local non-christian band show in the past 4yrs?")

i've also thought i'd like Reggae seeing as how much i dig Ska, but saddly no, no i don't like any of what i've heard at all, i've also tried to get into jazz but alas that can't be done... also i pretty much do not like any classic rock, about 1/2 the coutry i've heard i dispise, and the "suck ratio" of the rap/hip hop i've heard is only about 20%, it's not my thing but only about 20% of what i heard i actually think totally bites, prolly the only style i'm not into that i think is okay (i've also defended that and country in many a argument)

the only bands i've ever had my mind changed about
MU330, Johnny Socko, Belle & Sebastian, Solex and 311

and yeah i like the Spice Girls, Vitamin C and Jimmy Buffet (and that's basically to piss all you JB haters off, oh and how i do hate the fans as well)

This thread is really pathetic.

Why are you all wasting so much time and energy going on about things that you "hate"? This whole forum has negative vibes lately, which is just awful...if there's something that I can't stand, it's reading music forums full up with people who write as though they hate music. C'mon, stop dwelling on this sort of thing, everyone! It's easy to complain, and it's also very boring to read. How about some enthusiasm? If you've got to say something about the things you "hate", then could you at least give it a fair and thoughtful critique?

I'm afraid I cannot give a thoughtful critique of Jazz without learning a bunch of crap about Jazz and listening to a bunch of Jazz albums. Neither sounds pleasant, given my historical response to Jazz. However, if anyone can change my mind, it's you; you know where I live.

The Natural Way

But it's not as though you have to be particularly thoughtful to realise that massive generalisations like "Jazz is crap" are utter turdtalk. I mean, I'd understand if you were talking about Gabba.....

bear, i like the fact that you like s club seven. i'm not sure if they'll be any good now without paul. and have you seen s club juniors? talk about music you hate! i think dressing up young children to look like teenagers is way fucked up. the girls in the band look older than me and i'm twenty-two! and the song's rubbish too.
oh yeah, and that song ronan keating has just done is not only lame, but it's depressing too. and the new westlife video is sexist. have you seen the beginning of that video? it says, "back in the time that men were men and women were virgins" gross!
fucking westlife.

So fuck you Flux!
We be ranting and having a great time.
Your, like, acting so, like, square.

Ok, shit storm admission.

Jay -Z.
God I want to slap him so hard. Dull, Dull, Dull. And that "wit" of his isn't getting him off the hook.

Irish trad music makes me want to start shouting about the fact is not 1847 anymore and these people should stop rehashing this shit over and over again.

Pink floyd/ Zepplin/ Most of the doors.

Stoners please leave the room. Now. Why, when I'm trying to relax and have a smoke do you people try to play me this rubbish? "Oh man, you gotta hear" Shut up! I kill you!

oh and anything with pointless guitar solo's will piss me off. Too much Thrash Metal as a kid.

*twich*

It's just not my bag anymore. The best thing nu metal ever did was loose the obligatory 2 solo's a song.

...is it me or after a while, it's easy to abandon music you used to like? Hmmm...

As far as pop is concerned, it's almost all brass on the Titanic...what ever happened to Michael Jackson? People young and old generally gave the man respect cause he did what pop is supposed to accomplish.

Uhh...indy rock...

Have to say, it's difficult for me to hate an entire genre...there's at least one or two song of each that aren't nails on the chalkboard.

And...Polka...no one bashed it yet. I hate it, but then again when your really blitzed, already twirling and surrounded by old people that're happy, it might show its appeal...

Can anyone explain why a passion for a type of music requires that you positively hate others? Is it not possible for a person to love everything or to be simply indifferent to the things they don't love? The only scenario I can imagine where hatred might be completely neccessary and unavoidable would be where genre 'B' positively threatens to destroy genre 'A' (which you love).

Anyone want to take this further or not (possibly in another thread)?

That said, I've got no problem with a bit of hate, and find the slagging of genres quite refreshing.

i don't think that loving something means that you have to hate something else; but i find that is usually the case with me.
i hate some stuff, i love some stuff. i couldn't really ever know what really loving something is without hating something else.
thats why i'm not too keen on the boring mor stereophonics, travis schtick. i mean, with pop music you have one extreme; and lo fi noise chic another. the boring trite music of those mor bands doesn't incite hate OR love in a person. just a shrug of the shoulders.
which, in my humble opinion, is worse than hating it. faaaaar worse.
did that make sense?

Hey, I hate plenty of stuff. I just think it's bad for discussions of music to focus too much on things that people don't like, I've been involved with enough of these conversations to know that they tend to effect the tenor of all the conversation, eventually making everything negative. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

You know what I hate? People who hate Jay-Z. Yr all out of yr minds.

Um .. actually, I don't get Jay-Z either. Everyone seems to think he's The Man, and I'm sure they're right in some sense, but to me he just sounds like .. yawn.

(Um, that's of course yawn the thing you do when tired/bored, rather than yawn the barbelith poster. A rapper who sounded like him would clearly rule.)

Oh, and:

Yes, PERFECT SENSE! Exactly!

I wish I was in travis just so I could destroy my career in a brilliant way, by launching into Ace of Spades solo-ing half way through 'Driftwood' on a live TV festival performance and playing thrash metal and swearing relentlessly.. I'd love them if they did that. And if they had any decency or sense of humour at all, they surely would.

Yes! YEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! And Jay-Z has a funny head and mumbles lots! What a twart!

Sometimes I dream about Travis turning in to Ikara Colt in a live performance. These are the only things that can get you through life.

And I do think some people are taking this thread to seriously. twats.

It is the broader discourse within which this thread is situated, particularly as interpolated by yr comment, that I refer to, silly.
