I have a warm glow now. God bless you all.
Saveloy has always reminded *me* of Capt. Beefheart (or They Might Be Giants or Bonzo Dog Band), and Rizla of either Beat Happening or Unrest (at their "zine-y-est" if that makes sense).
I know Margin Walker is a big Replacements fan, so I associate them, even though Margin is less rough around the edges.
Dao Jones is Steve Albini, yes.
Haus as Momus I can see.
Crunchy as Madonna, though - not nearly punk enough. It'd have to be Jello Biafra.
Flux I've gotten CDs from which I associate closely with him. It'd have to someone encyclopedic & discerning, a band with deep love of music and an ability to cover just about anything, but with a low cheese factor. First names I came up with: The Kinks, David Byrne, Houston Person, The Zombies, Bacon Ray (www.baconray.nu and Neil Young. But I think John Zorn will do.
Is Kooky Slant 6, or is that just me?
Mazarine as Gillian Welch, maybe.
PATricky as Zappa.
Rosa/Disco as Michelle Shocked, at her most political. (There's this new "texas swing" Michelle Shocked that's all weird.)
Tom, of course, is Duke Ellington. |
