yeah, the new york scene is one i wanted to steer clear of. i love the city itself, its just that so many people making up the arts community there are so... i don't know... superficial, it's really uncomfortable. while i may diss a lot of kids in this school, at least they wear their hearts on their sleeves when it comes to the art. i appreciate that. the career-mindedness of so amny of the NY artists really doesn't sit right with me. and FIT is a weird school. Knew a girl who is going there. totally not my scene. you're right about the Limp Bizkit kids there. don't really understand what they're going to pick up at a fashion design school, but hey. you never know, they might spit out the next Mark Ecko.
and there is a huge difference between the indie and emo scene. frankly, the emo scene is too painfully and childishly sencere and non-aware of irony to really get my juices flowing, but i do pick up the occasional album. Got the new Saves the Day and Thursday over xmas.
Camille Paglia teaching here is the weirdest thing in the world to me. i wanted to take her class next semester but i knew it would kick my ass, thus i went for Medieval Art as my elective. sometimes i wish i hadn't been so afraid of it.
and, to answer utopia, been a vegetarian for coming up on six years now, so i don't eat hot dogs thankfully. and i shower daily, or just about (i'm man enough to tell the truth and say that every once in a while, when i didn't do anything all day, i won't take a shower!). do you know anyone else on the board that's a philly resident? |
