Videodrome, you do indeed rock. Consider the mortal soul of my firstborn yours. (Not legally binding, terms and conditions may apply.) If you could see your way to scanning 2,3 and 4, it would be greatly appreciated...

oh, and disinfo's got a new article on morrison today, for those who care about such things, but it's more of an introductory thing. links to barbelith as well. which is nice.

That disinfo article's a bit out of date.

quote:...for at least the time being it seems that his dealings with DC Comics are a thing of the past.

Currently, Morrison is working on a Marvel Boy mini-series for Marvel's "Marvel Knights" imprint.

He'd also been tapped to be part of Marvel's re-working of the X-Men (2001).

impulsivelad, much as I'd like to help you out I'm not too confident about the chances of them surviving the journey in one piece. Sorry.

Issue two is now available by the same means discussed above.

I was told there was a problem opening the .zip file in Linux - dunno why that would be, but anyone with suggestions should make them.

Issues three and four should be up in the next day or so.

***update***
I'm changing the location of the files to protect my account a little better. Access is still through FTP, but now through an anonymous account.

PM me with problems.
Only problems that have to do with this, though, OK?

Videodrome you are the Prometheus of Comics Land.

Bringing the warming fire of Flex Mentallo to the people.

Other than our prayers, offerings, and first born children, is there anything we can do in return? Any comics you're desperately searching for?

I'm going to start making notes for the annotations to issue #1 tonight. I hope I'll post some time in the next couple of days. I know it's a bit ahead of schedule but I've been thinking of it for months and want to get started while I'm feeling enthusiastic.

I will keep my eyes open for any and all Flex that I can. I will buy it and then offer it up here if you'd like. I think it's a good idea for a whole bunch of people to do it. Everyone needs a full set of Flex.

Zoom.

Yeah. Never mind. Umm...is anyone else having trouble with these files? I think that they might be corrupted or something. I've only gotten one or two of them to work.

I didn't have any troubles with the files when I got them last night. What sorta problems are you having?

Yer, Arthur - be more spcific (PM me if you have to) and I'll fix if I can. Everything was done through Photoshop, saved as typical JPG and checked. Seemed fine on my end, but that's no guarantee. (Thanks, Bill! you fuck.)

So, lemme know and I'll fix if necessary. Will have issue 3 up tomorrow.

I've done something. I didn't know where leave it so it's there. It's only one file with javascript. Save it the same directory than the .jpgs. It's the first time I use jscript and it works well with me.

This one is for the first issue, for the second, it's there too.

For opening in Linux, if you hadn't change the .zip file for #1, the error comes from me. I had too few free space on my HD account at school, I hadn't time and didn't notice that. Sorry to annoy you with that kind of problems.

Oh oui, videodrome, ça le fait grave !!

Issue Three is up now.

And for those who had problems reading the JPGs, I encoded the second half of this issue a little differently. There are sample files from each encoding batch in the FTP directory. D/L those if you want to check - if the newer files work, and the old ones don't let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix all of them.

thanks videodrome, my trip to the comic mart on sunday proved less than fruitful on the flex front - but seeing as i picked up the first EXIT trade and one of the missing issues of the second series for the princly sum of £1 i couldn't complain too much[/LIST]

Woo! Ta videodrome, that's excellent. Just read the first one (first GM comic I've read in fact) and I tell ya, I liked it.

Moving on to 2...

Are you guys gonna look at this in depth and all that malarkey?

That's because whatever mikl did is on the Invissy list on Yahoo groops. And Yahoo groops is down for maintenence or something. So we'll have to wait until Yahoo gets their shit together.

Incidentally one very cool thing that any MacOS X and iPhoto users can do is to import the images into iPhoto and then turn them into a Photo Library.

Then using the book functionality you can create your own trade paperback. I've just tried this on the first three issues and it works very well. You can even print the whole thing to a PDF file to get that book feel.

So no need to wait for DC to release that trade paperback now.

Yahoo groups are OK now but I removed the files. It seems Yahoo remove the javascript of the files I upload.
So try
here now.

Right. Issue Four is available now. Get it while it's hot.

MiKL, I took the liberty of adding a copy of the browsing file you made, with alterations to use the fourth issue's files. Also added a line that will load the cover image as default when the page loads.

The only thing missing now is the two-part essay that ran in issues two and four. The text just don't scan well, I've not got OCR software, and damn if I'm going to type it in. If I can make the scan work I will, but my free time is rapidly coming to a close. Anyone with the issues that can fill in, please do so, and I'll host the files on my FTP for a while.

Would love to throw in a few annotations on the gnostic side and I'd love to know what all the over-my-head comics references are...
