I was just rereading 117 and I noticed something...

On page 6 Beast and Prof X/Cassandra are talking and the professor says "No one should feel outcast, or alone, or ugly. Especially here at Xavier's." If it was the professor talking and not Cassandra he would have just said "here at the school" or something. Professor X doesn't refer to himself in the third person. it was a nice touch.

I also noticed that logan is taller than Jean when they have their chat in the woods. And VanSchiver made him tall as fuck on the bike at the end of 118. Damn it.

Jean and Logan both have a cold? If Scott had half a brain, he’d know the two of them had been snogging.

It's the little things. Like Jeannie taking solace in salty snacks. Of course I'm sure telekenetics don't have to worry about keeping the weight off.

I'm so dense. Sublime runs a PHARMECEUTICAL company. Of course this is germ warfare...

i thought:

flu thing was sign that wolv and grey are at it.

didn't fink of 'thrax at all.

Man - anyone remember Thrax - evil dude in Bad Company? (2000AD)

I just don't think Jean and Wolvie are going to "go at it". It's too predictable. It's far more interesting and fun to watch Emma and Scott dance around each other. Oh yes, he's a bit stiff at the moment, but, you watch, that boy's got some moves........

NXM 118.
Scott and Emma are talking to John Sublime and we see him touch a brain full of needles filled with a pink fluid. He says "As I said, we use only the latest surgical techniques and X-hormone mutagens to release the mutant within."

NXM 115.
Just before the Sentinel Manowar kills Ugly John we see...

Indeed. Looks like Cassie and John Sublime may share a connection... perhaps literally, in the sense of 'dealer'. Or maybe Sublime *is* her dealer.

Funny, because isn't Cassandra Nova herself actually 'The Third Species'?

One of the things Quitely does is to almost always compose the frames so that Wolverine is positioned lower than the other characters, to emphasize the fact that he's a little short-arse. It's very subtle but effective.

He really is very good, is Frank...

Very interesting Biolicious. Third species indeed?

Zoom.

p.s. Cassandra Nova as recipient of first mutant-human transplant from Prof X, hence them being related somehow.

No, I don't buy that. They're definitely twins.

1. Because it's a soap opera.

2. Because they're binary opposites.

3. Cause Grant said so (see back of trade).

4. Because they look like each other.

Kay?

And why would Grant sell 121 on the strength of Jean getting covered in "Dad paste" unless she and Emma were heading into Xavier's memories of the womb? Where he and Cassy, Grant tells us, were locked in battle....

Oh yeah, seeing as we're being introduced to a gaggle of new X-Men (The Man From Room X, Angel, the Moslem girl [whenever she shows up]), do you think we might be looking at the new A team?

And "The Beak" as ugly duckling? You betcha! We're looking at a greasy young chick who has a proud, strutting eagle waiting for him somewhere in his future.

the above comment concerning the beak is profound and probably true.

the muslim girl will help make this title the best selling comic in christendom too.

Hey. If Prof. X's parents produced arguably two of the most powerful creatures on the Earth, shouldn't we be getting a little back story on them?

I really want to see the beak developed! He should have been the new angel! At least he has feathers. Don't get me wrong, I like the ghetto girl but she should have been called something else.

a few brief appearences and they'll all be wiped out by a mutant strain of the legacy virus... thus underlining that everything is mutating- even this once thought 'cured' virus

Uh-uh, think about it.....

The new Angel is the inverse of the old in every respect: Warren Worthington was white, aryan (at least by the looks of him), rich, well educated and beautiful, whereas our young whippersnapper is black, poor as fuck, badly educated (I suspect) and a bit fat. Calling her "Angel" gives the finger to the old X-verse in the naughtiest, most progressive way imaginable. Angels can be found in the gutter, too......

Just a quick mention for the last part of Poptopia in Uncanny, here because it doesn't really deserve a thread all of its own. The change in artists, with Sean Phillips doing the layouts and Ashley Wood the final art, has improved this crock of shit immeasurably. Is this a permanent thing or just a fill-in for a few issues?

Now all they need to do is get someone to write a decent story.

Tom Raeney did the pencils for the latest issue... it actually looked Great but with the exception of Arch-Angel lording over his board-room...
And Iceman playing cool at a brothel it was pretty lame...

Warren's company has invested in an X-ranch a Nevada based Brothel specialiing in catering to those who want to make it with a mutant. Decient premis. Warren finds out after reading the riot act to his board members (didn't he loose all his fortune & business ages ago in X-factor?). The Uncanny crew go to check it out... some ammusing scens with customers. Iceman enters undercover as "Mr. Friese" (cute) and meets Stacey-X. She knocks him for a loop... ArchAngel swoops in to "chat"... then things go DOWN HILL.
Some mysterious sect "beems" in to kill everyone as doing-it with mutants is a sin against god. The X-men fail miserably to stop them saving only Stacey-X (Xstacey). The bad guys "beem" away & she's now an X-man...
