"I still post because as far as I can see Barbelith is the only place on the Internet which isn't full of complete arseholes, and thoughtless, spiteful nonsense."

I'm here, because I see it as the complete opposite!

Just kidding.

Sadly haven't had much time to be more involved for quite a long while. I manage a lurky read regularly though.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
22:18 / 14.06.08
"Lurky read" fills me with uncomfortable dread. Buckets of, really. It's a dripping way to read things, dripping icky things 'pon them.

I have had too much sugar. I am the sugar high.

'Lurky Read' does sound fairly sinister, as you say like peering over someones should to read about Pisces and drooling on their pin sprite.

Muwahahahaha

Why do you keep saying that, DM?

It's his catch phrase. Everybody needs one.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
23:14 / 14.06.08
Lurky reading is reading with one's tongue, over someone's shoulders. I'm going to go hide under the covers now. You can't see what I'm reading. No no no. You can't look at it. Is mine!

*shakes himself to death with sugar hysteria*

Why do you keep saying that, DM?

It's a Doctor Who reference, which is fitting for this thread because I'm mostly on the Films and TV forum these days. For those who do watch Doctor Who, it might even be quasi-funny

I keep posting so you guys don't have to browse the *chans yourselves. I'm a bit like Jesus in that respect. Taking one for the team.

More seriously, most of my posting now is in the $cientology thread. While people are still finding that useful, I'll be doing it.

Then I'll come back to Convo and talk about pirates.

Actually, their third album was much more cheerful. I think they got a ska drummer or something.

... sorry, I'm sorry to everyone who got that, I couldn't help myself.

Nobody's guessing how many!

I've changed my guess.
I now think there are 12 people here, and hunnerds of sockpuppets. I strongly suspect Stoater has more accounts than Jesus has miracles. And I know Evil Scientist has at least five.

Fess up, people.

If the lurkers coming out of the woodwork get the nerve up to post something now and again, we could treble the activity here in a few days. Come on lurkers! Throw of your lurky hoods and step blinking into the bright light of Barbelith's AWESOME INTELLECT.

Or alternatively, post about how hungover you are in Convo. It would be a start.

Count me in Chief. This is one of the few message boards that slips through the web filter at work, so I spend quite a lot of time reading old threads and occasionally posting.

Sorry I didn’t lurk last week – I was on holiday. Not that you would have noticed because I just lurk. I’m fairly obsessive and hardcore about it though, been around since ’99. And I’m so not gonna leave.

(I used to post, but it was mostly far too personal, cringe-worthy stuff and that’s what blogs are for, right?)

Love to Lurk, but find that I rarely can add something useful myself. Or am too late. Or get distracted by work or other matters right in the middle of a discussion.

Will try harder though

Sadly I'll probably be vanishing for a couple of weeks from Friday while I wait for the broadband to get put on in my new flat...

One minute I think you're trying to date feminists in London and now this.

I can assure you that whatever else I may be up to, I am not trying to date feminists in London.

I am, however, trying to destroy all busters worldwide, which probably explains why I'm still here.

I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the many, many busters you have so far destroyed by posting on Barbelith. I'd also like to acknowledge the heavy price you pay in health, and the damage to your own now pathetic life.

Still, hanging around a forum is certainly noble work, and I wish you well with it. If only there were more like you, there might not be any wars.

Not sure what you're on about there, big man. Between this and "you like a drink, don't you?', you seem obsessed with speculating about my off-board life. That raises some questions, don't you think, that might be a bit too sensitive to address here, man? It doesn't seem like you do know much about me so it might be better if you decided to just jog on, eh?

I pop in every now and then.

Well some nows and the odd then, to be more accurate.

Around thrice yearly, I'd estimate.

Give or take a couple of times.

I'm here, and lurking mostly, although I can only manage about a once-a-week barbebinge at the moment. Tweed Bastard brings up a valid point for why I still stick around, aside from the quality of the posts compared to the rest of the internet: Barbelith is quite possibly one of only two or so websites I visit that is not actively hostile to dial-up. Rather chummy in fact. And that is something that, even when I am not on dial-up, I appreciate.

I think it's already been established that Milton Friedman doesn't respond to Life Critic's PMs, brb, which presumably means that we will have to suffer through these Crimes-of-Fashionish speculations about other people's offline lives on the main board, forbearance not being, it seems, an option,
