Hi Barbelith - not visited for a few months.

Working nights and thought I'd pop my head round the door to see what's going on. And yes, just as I thought, everything's the same, except the layer of dust coating everything is perceptibly thicker.

Lovely.

Think I'll climb on the sofa in front of the fire and read a book...

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:13 / 14.04.08
I recommend the latest Winterson. Welcome back.

I, for my sins, am watching Doctor Who.

This Sunday
00:46 / 14.04.08
Hi all. I'm a bit AAAAaaaargh! because someone called and I just missed part of a very important hockey game.

I'll be fine in five minutes, when I realize it's just hockey.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:49 / 14.04.08
Would a trip around time and space help you feel better? We could always skip back to the bit of the game you missed. I could just, I don't know, hang out in the kitchen and eat while you watch. Then, you know: the big bang.

This Sunday
00:51 / 14.04.08
I'd probably step on a squid and destroy the present as we know it.

Can I be on Lateshift? I'm not actually working, but I can't sleep due to acid reflux - a regrettably common problem with me which the drugs don't seem to be fixing. I'm beginning to think I may have Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.

This Sunday
00:56 / 14.04.08
If I say 'No' will you shift anyways, so I can feel contested and never listened to?

I'd like to, I think.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:14 / 14.04.08
VV -- I had that problem for about two weeks due to some nasty antiobiotics I was on at the time. Eating nothing but yogurt seemed to help, but the despair was awful. How long have you had the problem?

Udon noodles + parmesan cheese + scrambled eggs + white onion + salsa = not a bad combination, surprisingly.

Of course, if you can't do the lactose, all-yogurt all the time, may not actually be a grand idea.

They do have prescription-strength aids, though, which you may want to look into if you're just trying Tums and such.

No, I'm on lanzoprazole which has helped a bit, certainly made my stomach less painful, but my oesophagus still hurts like a bitch, which leads me to think all the acid has inflamed it.

On top of the reflux, I was recently diagnosed with iron-deficiency anaemia, which has got me thinking of ulcers, but also, bizarrely, with something called reactive arthritis, which is essentially an arthritis you get in response to an infection because all the post-infection debris gets in your joint membranes and fucks you up. Frankly, I'm something of a wrhysical pheck at the moment.

I may attempt the all-yoghurt diet, though. I know what caused my reflux attack tonight - I stupidly had a diet coke with tea - so perhaps a more proactive (and indeed probiotic) approach to my digestion would help.

VV - have you tried esomeprazole (Nexium)?

I have indigestion troubles and the lansoprazole helped for a while, then became ineffective. Since changing to Nexium I've been able to abuse my stomach to my heart's content without so much as a twinge.

Worth looking into, at least.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:05 / 14.04.08
Try the yogurt out for a few days...obviously it's not good to do for a long time, but it calmed my stomach down enough for things to start returning to normal.

This Sunday
02:16 / 14.04.08
Good luck with it, however you manage.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:31 / 14.04.08
Are you feeling better about the hockey game?

This Sunday
02:47 / 14.04.08
Hockey was good.

Now I'm (a) fielding a phone call of crisis-ness, (b) eating more dinner, and (c) rereading Gail Simone's Gen13 stuff.

This Sunday
03:20 / 14.04.08
How 'bout you, Papers? What's new w/you? What's on the calendar and what's getting scratched off?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:20 / 14.04.08
Crisis? Shit!

Sigh. Soon I will have no more Who to watch, and will have to do the dishes.

But I might write afterward.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:28 / 14.04.08
Me? I'm awright. In the mood to go adventuring, but stuck for the moment in sticky time. I'm looking forward to Tuesday & Wednesday -- my days off.

In the middle of that story I PMed you part of the other day; I'm liking where it's going.

This Sunday
03:41 / 14.04.08
Cool. I really dug what I saw of it.

I'm trying to do a memoir-esque thing, but can't shake the feeling I'm selling people out, so I may do it for myself and then destroy the evidence.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:53 / 14.04.08
You can always change the names to protect the innocent.

I've also decided I need some new clothes, as I've become rather boringly staid in a regular wardrobe and need a bit of a change.

This Sunday
04:10 / 14.04.08
New clothes! Get something good and horribly flashy.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:13 / 14.04.08
I want some argyle, finally, a nice argyle sweater. You know, to fulfill my Jimmy Olsen fetish. But I haven't found one yet, and if I did I suppose that would finish my life's goals and I would die right there.

Actually, I want a new jacket and some pants and T-shirts. Flashy would be excellent, actually. I've sunk into a swamp of earth tones and actually almost-possibly-maybe missed my wild raver days the other week, when I the most ridiculous colours...

But this time I'll aim to actually look good, of course.

This Sunday
04:16 / 14.04.08
Being deep in the desert, I am denied much of my fabulous very very black wardrobe. And the leather. So it's all creams and low necks at the moment. And shoes shucked at any given chance.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:21 / 14.04.08
I may also succumb to my unnatural luggage lusts and buy myself a new courier bag if I see one I like. I've been dragging around this big black Swiss Army backpack for the past couple years and I mean! Some weeks demand a rebirth of one's material presence, know what I mean?

How long have you been in the desert? Bit longer'n forty days, I presume.

This Sunday
04:34 / 14.04.08
Off and on since just after the year began. So, of course, I retired the jacket a few weeks ago. Like they say, watchagonnadoo?

I still haven't been able to bring myself to start wearing t-shirts in public. Which is absurd, but my love of collars will not allow it! basically.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:53 / 14.04.08
Collars have their place. But I wear t-shirts far too often, I suppose.

This Sunday
05:17 / 14.04.08
Well, I think it's lapse into a small coma time for me.

Liger Null
00:21 / 15.04.08
Anybody there?

This Sunday
00:55 / 15.04.08
Hey! I'm pretending to work, as the actual work would mean less typing and more pretending what I have to type doesn't make me want to kick out windows and threaten to glass the ceiling for looking at me funny. So it's happy music and the internets for me, yes.

How're you doing?

Saint Keggers
00:58 / 15.04.08
Im here.

This Sunday
01:03 / 15.04.08
Hey, Keggers. World treating you good?

Saint Keggers
01:09 / 15.04.08
No. The world isnt treating me at all. I keep pressing the paging button and yelling "nurse! nurse!" but nobody pays attention to this patient. Im getting no treatment whatsoever.

and you fine lot?

This Sunday
01:15 / 15.04.08
Relearning why I loathe confessional modes in print, when they're my confessions. Drinking whisky and coffee. Pixies and Thrill Kill Kult on the headphones. Busily not working.

You know what you need? One of those little things where the patient just hits the button and it kicks the stuff right in you, rather than trying to ring up the duty nurse. Or a cookie. I hear cookies help most things.

Saint Keggers
01:17 / 15.04.08
sadly I have not cookies and from what I hear the cake is a lie.

This Sunday
01:21 / 15.04.08
You never have sweets when you're lateshifting! What's up with that? Stock up, man, stock up.

Which is precisely the point I run out of animal crackers and whisky, but there but for the grace of god...
