ugh! 2!

I know NOTHING of the bible, apparently.

I'd be excommunicated with a score like 4.

Rev. Orr
12:32 / 14.02.08
Well, that's just flat out wrong. There are five book of the New Testament with John's name in the title. The Gospel, three epistles and the last cocking one is not called 'Revelations' it's 'The Revelation of St. John the Divine'.

Sadly that only pushes my score up from atrocious to bloody awful.

Must go and look up this word 'hubris'...

Yes, Rev. Orr, that´s another thing that gives this quiz the extra edge: some of the given answers are just plain wrong. Which makes them the pendant to the odd ambiguous question.

HCE
18:55 / 14.02.08
I had eight bible questions and two that I think were supposed to be based on Islam, though really they were more like questions about Arabic.

Mistoffelees
15:33 / 16.02.08
How do you answer all ten questions in 23 seconds? And answer them all correctly, too? That´s just amazing. Are cyborgs posting in our midst?

and now i know that closing the laptop when a customer walks in isn't really an effective strategy to stop the timer...

Indeed. As Half Man Half Biscuit taught us:

"If you're gonna quote from the Book of Revelation
Don't go calling it the Book of Revelations
There's no 's'- it's the Book of Revelation
As revealed to St John the Divine..."

I got 10/10 today. And I feel dirty for it.

I have purchased a stack of books with my filthy winnings. This pleases me.

Ha!

A_Transfer: I would like to dissent from the idea that Russell Crowe was
Llama: I had five Adam Sandler movie questions. How is that fair?
stoatie: erm, I got 10 this time. I 'm not proud.
fred: I have to read some of these twice to understand them.
A_Transfer: This comment box is misleadingly sized btw.

Mysterious Transfer Student

Yes, my opinion of Russell will remain unheard.

Today's was a toughie, for me if no one else.

Aaaaaand it looks like my 10 yesterday was a mere blip in my run of straight 5s.

"New Nelson"? What the fuck's one of those?

HCE
04:46 / 19.02.08
"You don't know about me, without you have read a book by the name of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, but that ain't no matter."

See what I mean? That's not even a question!

Paralis
08:00 / 19.02.08
Apparently there's a version of Lord of the Rings in which Frodo marries at the end. I've never been especially proud of how many times I've read the book (best guess is 25 or so), but now I just feel like a failure.

Stabbo.

My Mom Thinks I'm Cool
09:42 / 19.02.08
i got lucky guesses on three questions I had no idea how to answer, followed by missing two questions in a row about a book I've actually read. awesome!

there is really an awful lot of stephen king in there.

Mysterious Transfer Student
17:40 / 19.02.08
Well, I fluked that and no mistake. My knowledge of Brecht has gone up by one, at least. And no Stephen King!

To give an insight into the byzantine power politics behind this tournament, Impostor75 is my ex, who only does better than me because her browser runs faster than mine does. That's my story, don't question it.

My 4/10 score for the day was totally made ok by recieving a question about the "11 satanic rules of the earth".

Rev. Orr
21:36 / 23.02.08
Dammit! That's twice I've missed out on 10/10 because I was trying to answer quicker than I can accurately click. One 'no answer' means Orr=made of fail.

I'm off to the garden to eat thistles.

I am bad at easy movies Questions, I like to think this is a good thing, but in my heart I know this not to be true...

My Mom Thinks I'm Cool
10:01 / 25.02.08
I don't think I got a single question today which was actually "history". grammar, greek myths, art history, british vs american english...yeah, no history whatsoever.

Paralis
10:06 / 25.02.08
A little slow, a little late. Grah. As long as I don't get jobbed on the scoring like I did yesterday, though, I'll try not to let myself feel hurt about it.

HCE
10:13 / 25.02.08
Yeah, when did musicals become history? I know that complaining about an internet trivia quiz is possibly not the best use of my time, but come on.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
10:57 / 25.02.08
8! None of them were history, though.

Paralis
16:10 / 26.02.08
One day, I will be faster, will be smarter, will be WINNER!

But not yet, evidently.

(also, yay on no stephen king!)

My Mom Thinks I'm Cool
12:56 / 27.02.08
just wanted to point out that I totally, totally don't deserve the 10 I got today. at least five of those questions were movies or actors I have never, ever heard of, and random lucky button pushes.

HCE
05:51 / 28.02.08
Why is religion the only category where there are no questions about Stephen King or musicals?

Genesis tell the story of:
a) creation
b) the von Trapp family
c) a little girl who can start fires with the power of her mind
d) all of the above

Paralis
12:56 / 29.02.08
Well, that's a shame. I guffed another easy one.

My Mom Thinks I'm Cool
19:23 / 29.02.08
dang! I was that close to actually EARNING a 10. but sadly don't know the history of credit cards in the 1950s, which is a vital part of science and technology, obviously.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
20:29 / 29.02.08
Having got 9 yesterday through random button bushes, I'm now back down to my usual 5. And only some of them were guesses.

Oh crud. From now on I am not even going to try and think!

I'm done.

Tsuga
21:42 / 29.02.08
Keep trying, Papess. I totally blew today. The one question about mushrooms I got wrong, I don't know if I should have. I was trying to go fast, and didn't even see "magic mushroom etc." but saw "Amanita", and the Amanita muscaria does grow in the Pacific NW, dammit. The rest, I have no excuse but ignorance.

The first month's tournament is over.

I hereby retire, undefeated.

So long, all. It's been grand.

I have fallen in shame from the top 10.
